For those jumping up and down saying all bills will all come to a vote, remember any bill sent to the President is subject to veto. It takes a full two-thirds of the House and Senate to over ride a veto. That is not going to happen.
If bills look good but someone attaches a rider for repealling Obamacare, it will be vetoed. The President does not have a line item veto. For those who say the President can now be impeached, yes he can, but it takes 2/3 of the Senate to convict him. It is not going to happen. It actually looks like 2 more years of obstructionist government instead of both parties working together for a better America. |

Congratulations to the winners! Let's all try to support them in the difficult work of governing us. It will be tough. This country is more divided politically, economically, and socially than at any time in my memory. The major political parties are too busy trying to trash each other and win elections rather than do anything good for the country and the citizens that need their leadership. The minor political parties are so out on the fringe as to be frightening. I'm sad that the mantra for Americans seems to be "what's in it for me" rather than "what's in it for us."
Nevertheless, let's try to come together and be whole again. Let's stop treating elections as if they were sporting events where winning is all that matters, which clearly they are not. Let's stop treating those running for office as if they were scum and criminals, which clearly they are not. Let's be tolerant of each other, work to continue the prosperity that we currently experience, and do good things for all Americans!

Only time will tell, but getting rid of the wall in the Senate will open it up. I am hoping that all bills that go to the WH will be now discussed, instead of how it has been done, and be veto proof when it gets there. There has been much, much room for compromise and the Senate was the main, and greatest impediment to getting things done. Should not say the SENATE, because that implies that all members have been complicit....it is NOT the entire senate at all. The leadership just squashed totally all debate and ammendments that may offer compromise. His not being the head of the Senate, hopefully, will begin to show results quickly PS.....much of my comment also applies to the House, where a very stubborn minority stopped a lot. NOW, with a larger majority, that group has lost its power and must comprmise |

I don't see the senate change of control as "more" obstructionist when the lead obstructor will soon be out of the way.
I would like to see more discussion of the issues based on each issues merits or lack thereof AND ELIMINATE the tainting of everything based on party agendas. Maybe that would allow more decisions to be made for the good of the country and less about politicians concern and obsession with re-elections and pandering to special interests. Move back to the concept of right or wrong and not the wishy washy isolated magnifying of the grays! |

I also think it is worth mentioning because of all the verbage wasted on the subject........in Utah, the state of Mormons and whites, a BLACK WOMAN REPUBLICAN was elected to congress.
She is a great story and everyone should read about her...Mia Love PS..she is also Haitian American |

The election results should be good news for the energy, medical devices, and defense sectors. Think Keystone pipeline, medical device tax removal, and increased defense spending. No matter what views one may have our investments are what got a lot of us here.

Sometimes the obstruction of destruction is the only course available given the circumstances. Hopefully the drain we have been circling can now be successfully plugged.

Positives for me....
No activist judges for the next two years. Benghazi will finally get investigated.

There are a few things that the WH does NOT want to gain momentum and would rather bury.....Benghazi, Bergdahl, the IRS situation are three as examples. Will the WH "compromise" on some legislation come a a result of agreeing to "back down" a bit on some of these investigations ? I certainly hope not, but that is how the game is played quietly to make things move. |

The line item veto was signed into law in 1996 by President Clinton. It was declared unconstitutional in 1998 by the Supreme Court.
