Did Bill McReynold's daughter die or was she returned to them?

I think the local PD blew it by focusing on the family from the start. Missed so much this will not be solved in my life time.

I agree that the local Investigators blew it by focusing on the family.

I think that her mother may have been on drugs given the serious diagnosis of very progressed ovarian cancer.

Two things that may seem silly to a man but Patsy Ramsey was very interested in her own appearance and that of her children, yet she had on the same clothes that she had worn the day before when the police and her friends came to the home.

JonBenet continued to wet the bed and Patsy would change her sheets and clothes nightly. Had her mother been either drinking heavily or was sedated from opioids and struck her in a drug induced fury?
Then did the other things to her body to cover up what happened?

GG: "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?" Sherlock Holmes.

Police first look at motive and opportunity. The family fits the second and as stated in previous post victims more often than not know their killer.

People do not like to pre-judge. then we have the most obvious cases such as OJ Simpson and Casey Anthony where a jury knew the truth but refused to exercise their responsibility to the victims or their community

The Ramsey's were wealthy and very influential and hence had superior connections and resources to other people of power and influence to run interference for them

The broken window was indeed convenient . The ransom note very troubling especially since the amount demanded coincided with Ramsey's bonus $118,000 indeed a curious figure. Why would an intruder stop to write a note when the chances of being discovered increase with the passage of time? And more importantly why write a ransom note when if you were the intruder knew the child was already dead..what exactly are you ransoming

It is also curious as to why an intruder would enter assault and kill this child running the risk of discovery rather than bind gag and kidnap her...but then the nature of an investigation would be to argue the counterpoint

Investigations are something where confirmation bias should never enter the equation. Openness and objectivity must prevail. In this case I return to Sherlock Holmes and my suspicions rest with this family. As to motive one will never know. As to their actions it appears they were protecting one another and their reputations

It appears Occam's Razor again applies

The whole 'child beauty queen' and attempts to make young children 'look sexy'...roils my stomach.

Any parent/family that is willing to do that to children, are IMHO...sick to begin with.

From there, it's a short step to further devolved mental capacities.

We will probably never know who actually did it, but there's no question in my mind...it was one (if not more) of the family members.

I've been here a number of times. I get upset with myself for jumping here...............but with so many unanswered questions, I come back to this position.

Because of the unknown DNA on JonBenet's underwear and the evidence of entry via the basement window and evidence of the stun-gun marks on her neck and body, I would have to agree with the DA's outside investigator Lou Smit that an intruder committed the crime. The intruder watched the home waiting for the family to leave for the Christmas party. If they knew the bonus amount, then it makes sense they knew the family would be going to this Christmas party. Once inside the home, they had free roam and a lot of time to write the ransom letter.

Once the family returned, they waited in the basement until it was clear. They took their ransom letter and traveled upstairs to get JonBenet. She was stunned and then carried to the basement and the ransom letter was left on the steps. Once the child was in the basement, they attempted to place JonBenet in a suitcase and to lift her up through the window. When this became impossible, the intruder decided to have his wicked ways before killing the girl. He might of even taken her back to the kitchen to get the pineapple in order to be her friend. Then he fashioned the garrotte and then choked JonBenet to death.

He is doing what he is paid to do. If he doesn't keep interest in his show, he won't be doing it anymore. I don't think psychology is an exact science and I am not sure how much applied psychology can do to help screwed up people but I think Dr. Phil says a lot of things most people agree with, does a good job getting to the heart of a problem and has a lot of common sense.

But having said that, sometimes I cringe when it gets a Jerry Springer flavor or he is touting his wife's crusade too much, not that I don't understand how we all need to help and protect battered women and men.

I think that the Dr. Phil show is getting getting to be too much too. But we watch it, a lot of us anyhow. People are very complex for sure.

I have never watched the show. Don't like the type. It all smacks of Jerry Springer.

John: You offer a logical alternative. One would have to be certain that the collection of evidence especially the DNA was done with zero tolerance for error. Did the police determine if the Ramsey's owned/purchased a stun gun?

If the culprits entered the basement window it is inconceivable that they could not exit this small child from this same window. Why the need for a suitcase when this home was well isolated?

It is conceivable that a mad man would show little concern of discovery and may have well ravaged the child in the basement. However if the intent was to kidnap why stop to ravage when the intent was to ransom her? Why the garrotte? Why write and leave the ransom note when it could be done once the kidnapping was successfully executed?

If it was someone other than the Ramsey's then s/he had to have had information about the interior of this very large home and Ramasey's business affair to have knowledge of the bonus. The child's bedroom would have been difficult to find without a blueprint or personal knowledge of the home ? If the intruder did take her from her bedroom it is surprising he did so without bumping into a member of the family

Why only ask for the amount of the bonus? if you are going to commit such a serious crime why would you settle for only and even stranger exactly $118,000?

The FBI people who originally investigated this case are going to have a documentary on Monday (CBS I believe) that identifies whom they believe was responsible. they do state that they believe the author of the ransom note was likely Pat Ramsey, mother....stay tuned

Does anyone know the name of the show and/or the time that it will be aired on Monday?

DNA evidence revealed Patsy and Burke's fingerprints on the bowl of pineapple.

There was no stun-gun found in the home. The third part of the ID Channel show on Wednesday night said that new technology has enabled police to process touch DNA from the blanket, and it matched the DNA found on the underwear.

The knowledge of the home such as JonBenet's bedroom location, the family using the back stairway, and the basement room, and knowing they were attending a party that night, all made me think of the McReynolds person who portrayed Santa Claus. He is the one that told JoneBenet he would be making a surprise visit the day after Christmas and it was their little secret.

I believe the CBS Special is on this Sunday night following 60 minutes. I have never watched a Dr. Phil Show, I just don't find his stuff interesting.

What a shame not for the authorities not to find the killer of this little girl after 20 yrs. Then to listen to this guy on 20/20 & 60 mins. that he made it sound at first that he did it. Why does 20/20 & 60 mins. waste their time airing this slow minded nut. Still can't believe a murdered little girl is dead & no one is found, but they'll find someone that killed 100's of people with thousands of people standing around at the Boston Marathon.
