Your very cynical cashman. Remind me to never play golf with you. I play the game as honest as possible and expect other to as well. And I believe that most all professional golfers do the same. Think about the times you have seen it in tournaments. Where a golfer will call an official over and show them their ball moved when trying to remove some impediment. When a ball moved after removing the mark on the green. When someone like Tiger is a habitual liar because of his trying to hide his affairs, so you have to believe he will bring that to the game of golf. So he can stay home as far as I am concerned. And if you believe that is OK and do the same yourself, I hope you stay home as well.

Have you never cheated in your personal life? Are you a habitual liar? Who are you to judge someone else? Have you apologized or tried to receive help? I hope Tiger comes back and comes back strong. Everyone deserves redemption if they are sincere and want to turn their lives around. I wish him only the best and his family happiness. I'll bet most people would rather watch Tiger play than you. Your judgment towards Tiger is laughable in a sad way. You have learned nothing in your life. |

Tiger's speech at 11:00 this morning
I was truly touching to me and I believe in him despite those that disagree with me.
He is returning to rehab immediately saying he has a long way to go and doesn't know when he will return to golf. He is angry with the press for following his wife and children, saying it is about him, not them - I don't blame him. I am fed up with the press and not just about Tiger.

I remember this old poem and some of it fits; TIGER, tiger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire? And what shoulder and what art Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand and what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? What dread grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp? When the stars threw down their spears, And water'd heaven with their tears, Did He smile His work to see? Did He who made the lamb make thee? Tiger, tiger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? Last edited by graciegirl; 02-19-2010 at 03:37 PM. |

L2 - I have to take a little exception to what you stated.
I don't see how his lies (despicable as they are) interfere with his honesty on the golf course. Tiger has called penalties on himself in the past as is his duty. I hope you don't think that the other 149 PGA tour members have never lied, or cheated on their wives. Life experience should tell you different. Granted, I may not want to personally play with a person that I know cheats since they may bring that to the course (and eventually to my wallet). But in the regulated on course life that these PGA members have it would be difficult to think that they could get away with it. Especially Tiger, since every shot he takes is televised or recorded. I can appreciate your statement that you will not support him or his sponsors and that is certainly your right. But we all contribute to it just by viewing a PGA event which brings in more ad revenue and therefore jacks up the price of almost every item we purchase in the store. Let's face it, when Tiger comes back later this or next year it WILL BE the most watched golf event in the history of the PGA. Last edited by Russ_Boston; 02-19-2010 at 01:41 PM. |

Are you calling a respected TOTV member a CHEAT? You don't even know the man probably and definitely have never played golf with him. I have played golf with him and I look forward to doing it again and I would never play with a cheat. You need to reconsider your words! That's funny. You were so condescending to Cashman. My point was that you are so self righteous to Tiger, yet you yourself have much to hide. You can use your free speech all you want, but I have the right to call you out about what you say. I just couldn't sit back and let you condescend with your own house 'out of order.' |

Tiger on the other hand is a public figure. He lied and cheated and admitted doing so. I take exception to him playing a game that is known for it's high degree of integrity. Where you do not have a referee or an umpire calling the fouls. It is a game played on the honor system. He stated in his news statement today that he "didn't think he did anything wrong at the time". I hope he didn't apply the same logic to golf. I do not support him returning to the game. My choice.

I know l2rd personally. We are, consistently, on the opposite side of the political spectrum. He's a nice guy. He's an honorable man. From what I have seen of him and his wife, they have a house that is well in order. I think the personal attacks on him have gone way too far. It is okay to disagree with him, but to directly attack him or anyone for that matter that you don't know because they say something you don't like even though it is not directed toward you is a line that should never be crossed. cashman crosses this line consistently. taller trees has in the political forum, so I guess it is no surprise s/he does it here. As to l2rd, he has a right to his opinion, no matter how misguided it is.
Personally, I could not imagine Tiger ever cheating on the golf course -- even if he were the only person on the course. That is something that has been ingrained in him from brith. Military brats really and truly are taught a pretty high moral ground. Do we stray from it? Yup, but not in the honor department. As strange as it sounds, cheating on your wife is not considered dishonorable to many (immoral, maybe, but not dishonorable). Lying about it is actually the "right" thing to do to keep from embarassing your wife. Sadly, I've seen this mentality many times both as a child and as an adult, especially with those in uniform. So, while I may not like what Tiger did, I don't think it takes away from his integrity on the golf course. Golf is not my game, never has been, never will be. Even so, he's a great talent and that should not be denigrated nor denied. Be mad at him. Be disappointed. Refuse to watch him or support his sponsors. That is your choice. Me, I'll buy his sponsors' products if they fit my needs and my budget. I'll change the channel when he's playing but only because I don't like golf -- I'd rather watch grass grow. And I will now try to sit on my fingers when it comes to Tiger.
