And pass up the opportunity to publicly complain...about the publicity the perp(s) get?

That's downright...Un-American.

No, but it is healthy to discuss our concerns. I am confused that when this subject is brought up, the subject of Islamic terrorism, that many people try to make light of it; saying it doesn't happen often, more people die from this or that, and even calling people racist who are concerned about it.

One of our villagers grandson was killed by an Islamic terrorist five years at the Boston Marathon and his little sister had her leg blown off.

I, for one, never thought this thread was about any extremists of any ilk...EVER.

I am not sure, especially after all the violent behavior (NY subway push on tracks, school shootings, Waffle House shooting, etc) which never approached any terrorist activity, certainly the word Muslim does not deserve mention AT ALL.

The NY situation had political overtones, but it is extremely unfair to even mention it. Every "bad actor" especially acting alone can say what they want of their motivations.

As I said earlier, we have been cyber attacked.....we get fed a string of lies on Facebook, etc daily simply to rouse emotions. THAT should be of concern.

To jump to the same conclusion about every chaotic situation or killing and defame a religion each time is unfair. As a poster said earlier.....wait, read and get educated before jumping online and implying a terrible accusation about any human being.

Rest assured, the minute a Muslim does anything, it will be everywhere on line and used as an example.

Does anyone know the religion of any of these last few instances or care ?

Nobody should defend any terrorist acts, any killings, beatings or such acts that are simply based on hate of skin color, religion or absolutely anything. Doesnot matter to me what religion these people are.

"White supremacists and other far-right groups committed the majority of extremist-related murders in the United States last year, according to a new report by the Anti-Defamation League."

White supremacists committed most extremist killings in 2017, ADL says

White American men are a bigger domestic terrorist threat than Muslim foreigners - Vox

I bring these things up only because MUSLIMS seem to be the only group you fear

Again, as I said, when these horrible things happen MY first thought is how life changing it is for people who were simply going about a daily routine. Life never the same. To answer your question in post 1, that is my first thought

Canada has pretty much decided this was NOT a terrorist attack. Like Bucco, my first thought went to the people dead and injured, not to why it was done. To automatically assume an event is related to terrorism is just wrong IMO. To blame it on Muslims with no facts is, at best, prejudicial. At worst, racist and bigoted. Wrong in either event. Get the facts before assuming or blaming.

The same applies to those who are more worried about a demographic who they fear might kill them, rather than being more concerned about...that which is thousands of times MORE likely to kill them.

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

My first thought was that it was a terrorist attack. They don't run a crawl on your computer if it is a multiple hit and run. I don't see why thinking it was terrorism is wrong. There have been many incidents, two in France, One in Germany during Christmas season and one on the bridge over the Thames that were terrorists driving vehicles into crowds in order to kill people.

This was just flashed on my computer; Read the second to last sentence. "Authorities have not ruled out terrorism". Are they bigots and racist for considering it a possibility?

Not worth arguing about, but you specified a certain religion.

Last few terrorist attacks in US...an attack on Planned Parenthood and a killing by white supremicist

Not sure but think the last one in Canada had to do with Somalia. Not sure of this...off top of my head

Canada has decided it's not terrorism? Depends on who you ask.

Toronto Sun Editor-in-Chief Adrienne Batra asks National Comment Editor Anthony Furey if the attack was terrorism.

“You bet it was,” Furey said. “It may not fit the typical definitions of terrorism defined by the criminal code. But this is a guy who took this straight from the terror extremists’ playbook.”

Muslims and idealogues are not the only ones who can commit terrorism. I can assure you that the people mowed down by this idiot were terrorized.

Nobody ever doubted that.

I, along with others pointed out that our first thought was the terror and life changing events and how it must be horrible to with.

But, it was not in anyway connected to any religion.

Of course it was terrorism........a robbery of a 7/11 is terrorism for gosh sake.

Terrorism in the sense that the victims, onlookers and even we newshounds were shocked and terrorized? Yes. Terrorism in the sense it was in the name of a cause or religion? Probably not according to what I’ve read.

To have your first thought be that an act of violence is an act of terrorism that is Muslim based is, to me, very sad. I would hope that the first thoughts would go to the victims and their families. To do a post on a public forum that hints or suggests it was an act of political or religious terrorism of ANY sort without any facts is, to me, just plain wrong and frequently just continues fermenting baseless hatred and fear.

That is what I think.
Some thoughts are more appropriate to be left in your mind. Stop ! Think ! Think how social media is feeding these acts. I don't know how to completely stop these heinous acts but I do feel quite confident there would not be as many if it got less publicity - almost gorification in a strange way. So to that point what really was the purpose of starting this thread. I would have asked does anyone know what happened with the white van ........ ?

Well said.

I always come up short when trying to express these same feelings.
