Congress' Financial Mess
Here's an eye opener for us. Are we are going to trust the very same people that say we need trillions more to fix this? I wouldn't trust them with my lunch money. How about you?

Excellent Article
Guess what, the American public and investment community agrees with you. Want good evidence: look at the markets. The DOW is again heading for the 7000's. I think (I fear) the majority of people feel like I do, that Congress has no clue how to fix this and their track record (re-read this article) shows that when financial catastrophe is smacking them right in the face they say all is well. Anyone who reads this article would conclude the fox is watching the henhouse and we are totally screwed. Our "leaders" have lost all credibility. I get so furious when I read things like this my blood boils. Too bad there isn't something like "political malpractice". There is no acountability. I just started reading Ron Paul's book. Everyone should.

There is absolute accountability. It happens every two years when we go to the polls. Those idiots have a 9% approval rating, worst in history and yet WE THE PEOPLE keep re-electing them. If you voted for any incumbent in this past election, you have no one to blame but yourself. And if the incumbent got re-elected then we probably didn't do enough to support their opponent.

I certainly feel your frustration. However, what you say is not exactly correct. Let's say for example that you vote Republican. If the incumbent is a RINO and you want to vote him out, you first have to have someone challenge him and win in the primaries. Now the primaries work differently in some States. However, the premise is the same. More than likely, when you have an incumbent, he/she is entrenched and has a very big advantage. Most people don't even vote in primaries. So, bottom line, get involved in promoting candidates for a challenge in the primaries so that you can run someone who is more appropriate to your Conservative views. Then the trick is to get folks to split their votes (if in a Presidential cycle). I really think many just tore down that Dem Obama line and didn't even give the rest a thought. Shame on them. |

It's a matter of public confidence now. People are holding on to their money and businesses are not spending capitol and in fact are laying of in anticipation of what the new government is going to do to them.
No amount of wild spending by the incompetents in congress is going to change it and in fact will make it even worse. Our only hope is for the bail out bills to some how not happen. If they would take those off the table and start cutting cap gains taxes and individual taxes, the folks will start spending and business will start hiring. The housing market will normalize and when the dust clears the economy will start to come back. Anything else and we are in for a long haul of pain. The thing that makes me mad is Obama and his crew in congress will always have an ala by. No matter how far they drive us in the ditch they will alway blame it on Bush although he's partly to blame anyway. Another funny thing I heard today on the news. Bush's inauguration cost 40 million and all the folks on the left went nuts and newspapers starting running stories on how the money could be better spent such as immunizations for poor kids, etc.. you know the list. Obama's inauguration is 150 million during the "worst financial crisis since the great depression" and not a word from anyone. Things that make you go hum... |

Obama's inauguration is 150 million during the "worst financial crisis since the great depression" and not a word from anyone.
Things that make you go hum... __________________________________________________ Glad you mentioned this Dklassen. I have been mulling (not exactly sure what mulling means but) over why I have trouble showing any enthusiasm for President Obama......I certainly did not support his election but he was elected and he is my President and I do wish him well as I would any President. Now, after simply reading this sentence you posted maybe I have it. The media has 100% sold out completely and totally to him. When Bush was inaugurated, I recall an article criticizing him soundly (main stream media and will try and locate an article) for what was being spent on his inaugration and it was total pocket change compared to this. The article, as I recall went on about how whatever the amount was could be put to better use, but we applaud the spending of 150 million dollars for this inaugration. Same with his new financial wizard who did not pay some taxes HOWEVER, when President elect Obama told the media that this guy was so important, they just shut up and applauded. Just two examples of may be bothering me about what is going on. There is no critique of much he or his followers do ! Someone posted on here that I should "give him a chance"......I will/am...got no other choice but are we not to point out things on both sides of the aisle. Yes, the 150 million at this time does make you go .....hmmmmmm |

Steve,
That's what I don't get. We just keep putting them back in over and over again. Washington needs a serious house cleaning. Hope some others here take the time to read the link up top. Oh would I wouldn't give to have Reagan back for another eight. It makes me want to cry when I think about where we are heading. It's scary just how accurate this quote is. "Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." Ronald Reagan. |

Our national news media has destroyed itself. It is no longer credible and they are losing business in both advertising and readership. Almost every major newspaper has lost readers over the past 3 years. Even the New York Slime is asking for a bailout claiming there archives are a historic treasure and will be lost if they go out of business. Most of the network news programs are losing market share. The only news media that seems to sustain growth is talk radio and now congress wants to put restrictions on that.
You just can't believe what you read or see on TV as it is so biased as to be on the fine line of being fraudulent. They take words out of context, show things how they believe vs reporting the news and information in an unbiased manor. I was not a Sarah Palin fan until I saw how the media didn't tackle Caroline Kennedy the same way. Remember how Palin had no experience? And Caroline has done what? They are such a bunch of useless information twisters that I have stopped using them completely. Let them go out of business. I hope everyone cancels their subscriptions. |

Although prices are still down overall, home sales in San Diego, LA, Las Vegas and other places are actually up as much as 15%.
Someone is getting credit... The media and government is handing us a bunch of BS. Yes the economy is bad but the stimulus in not designed to bail us out. It designed to grab more control over the private sector, pure and simple. Wake up and smell the coffee. Once they get it they will never let go. "No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!" Reagan. |

Relative to the few comments on the cost of the inaugration and how the press differs today in their coverage, I said I would try and find some articles on the Bush inaugration..this is from Jan 20, 2005....
"Giving Bush a pass -- again The D.C. press corps failed to ask hard questions about the inauguration's huge cost and its unprecedented security." http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feat...n_inauguration |

I'm just restating what I heard on the news but the typical double standard still holds true. Where's all the left wing media stories about how Obama's 150mill could be better spent on shots for poor kids and relief for the elderly when so many people are suffering from the economy? I believe they had quite a laundry list for Bush even though the economy was strong at the time. Where's the same outrage? The media dog piled on Bush if he even blinked wrong from day one. You'll see the same media give Obama a free pass no matter what he does.
