I hear you Fumar but hasn't 'Katy already barred the door' with what is happening in the world today? Can it really get worse? I hope you are wrong.
In a single word - YES.

Taking a step back from the negative thinking that is pervasive these days, let's look at reality. On the national security/terrorism front, thing are far from dire. Iraq has been turned around to the point where the light at the end of the tunnel may indeed be real and not that of an oncoming train. Obama's "judgement" calling for withdrawal, if enacted when he first pronounced it, would have resulted in unbelievable chaos across the Middle East. Obama's other judgement in the earlier days of the Iraq war, when he said there was "not that much distance between his position and that of George Bush's" was they key reason why things went so badly there during '95 and '96. So, Obama's judgement has been remarkably wrong.

People like to cling to Obama's "judgement" concerning not going into Iraq in the first place. While this is perhaps debatable, one must be honest and admit that the choice was not one of maintaining the status quo and going to war. The status quo was rapidly changing into exactly the scenario that caused the vast majority of Congress to vote for war. All information obtained after the invasion from Saddam's "cabinet" and from Saddam himself pointed to the fact that a sanctions-lifted, WMD-armed Saddam was inevitable. Would that have been better than the scenario of today with a democratically run Iraq that is on the road to security and that is no threat to the region or the US? I doubt it.

On terrorism, how many people actually would have believed that 7 years after 9/11 that there would not have been another domestic attack? This didn't just happen by accident. Yet, Obama and the Dems have been fighting to rescind the measures that have been used to keep us safe. If he gets into the White House and actually follows through with what the left wants, things can get remarkably worse in a matter of seconds.

Fumar..........a friendly word. Writing in "CAPS" is considered to be shouting, which is rude. Unless, of course, you mean to be shouting.

Default vote for obama

we will be voting for Obama, but with the shape the country is in he won't be able to do anything. we are bankrupt. where do people think this money is coming from? SS is bankrupt, the pension guarentee fund is bankrupt. If China cashed in all of its us bonds and t-bills we could not fulfil the demand.

Gulp!!!! Unless something dramatic happens to change my mind, I am on the verge of voting for Barack Obama. (duck and cover)

Don't fret too much. As we age, moments of senility hit many of us, more and more frequently, yet are not necessarily debilitating. When hit by one of these bolts, try to find a quiet place to just sit and rest for a bit. Kinda like tight bowels, these feelings will pass. It is critical, however, that you do nothing foolish while under the influence "feelings." That's how a lot of 4th marriages occur after a night of Rocky & the Rollers.

Oh, and have no fear that Fumar's prediction of a resurgence of James Carville will follow a Dem sweep. The Ragin' Cajun is way too moderate for the current Dem powers that be.

Default I just have to say this

(I forgot to put the quote from Muncle in here, but it is right there above this post. I think. I can't figure out how to go back and grab the quote after I have already written the stuff to go under it. ) Oh well. I digress.

Anyway,

OK, I have to leave in a minute, but I just have to say this before I go.

First of all, I still have no idea who I am going to vote for. I have been in and out of the closet so may times, I cannot count them. I don't see myself in either one. But that is not what I want to say.

What I want to say is that I love it when Muncle writes stuff in that Muncle style of his.

IloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveit.

Keep writing Muncle and making me laugh and pretty soon I will just vote for whoever you tell me to vote for.

OK?

Muncle,

When your moments hit, why do you think posting messages will help?

Here is a clue - It's not working!

Default Seriously, I Wouldn;t Worry Too Much ABout The Dems Spending...

...for the simple reason that the outgoing Republican administration will be leaving such a monstrous national debt that we are nearing the limit that we can borrow to continue the grotesque deficit spending of the last eight years. All it will take is for the Chinese and the EU tp stay away from the next federal t-bill auction. If they do, the jig's up, we'll be broke and will have to begin acting in that reality.

THEY WILL SPEND !!! And even worse than that...I am scared of their constant attack on the rich (over 250,000 is I think the definition). I know that is not a popular thing to say and I surely dont make much, but they are going to destroy the fabric of this country with a ploy to "even the playing field". What motivation, as with socialist countries, will there be to be successful. I actually heard an Obama tape today where he was talking with a woman who was upset that SHE HAD TO PAY FOR HER SCHOOLING BY HERSELF !!! Imagine...she had to pay for her own schooling. Maybe it is me, but that simply goes against my grain !

Question Curious?

Just curious Bucco. Do you know the cost of colleges today? We do. We sent 3 kids to college. One to Berkley, one to Stanford and one to Wharton. You do the math.

Talk Show Host - you are not the only one. I've spoken to any number of people that used to be Repubs and are now saying they will vote for Obama. What is troubling to me, is how those of us who feel that way, almost feel like we have to keep it a secret. I play golf, go out with friends, go to club meetings, and many people, including those that run The Villages are very pro Republican, which is not a problem for me, but they hate that I'll vote for Obama. I've never run into that before -- if people I knew had different viewpoints, we'd just laugh about it and go on our merry way. But here, you feel like you're ostracized from society because you favor a different candidate. If you read the Villages Daily Sun you seen how that pro Republican ideal is reinforced. Letters to the editor or editorials are always pro McCain or anti-Obama. But the thing is, everyone does not think that way. There are a lot of us closet Obama people.

I think I should make it clear that I am not switching to the Democrat party. I will not be voting for Obama because he is a clear choice. If I vote for him, it will be because McCain has not convinced me that he is the best candidate. As unique as Sarah Palin is, I am concerned that she would not be a viable president. I think she lacks experience and polish. It's not so much her role as Vice President that concerns me as the possibility that she could be president in a heartbeat (or the stop of a heartbeat).

One of the things that would stand in my way of becoming a Democrat is that I see an overwhelming amount of intellectual snobbery in that party, and it is not warranted. I am, however, becoming weary of that portion of the conservative movement that refuses to move forward. Franklin Roosevelt said, "I do not undersand a man who has two perfectly good legs who refuses to move forward."

Well stated TH - You summed up my current reservations about the party (both of them in fact) very well.
