You make it sound as though I thought it was a sin or questioned his right to broadcast his ill- informed opinions on health and longevity. I was mainly questioning his judgement.

Me; I go to the gym 3 times a week and have been a "gym rat" for years. Except for my love of adult beverages, on occasion, I try to eat right (but I'm not a fanatic)
Good, it's very important to make sure that no one misunderstands and starts thinking you're a fanatic about eating right. It's okay to be a "gym rat" but not a health-food "fanatic." That would never be acceptable.

Although, my partaking of a buffet lunch the other day gave me a good case of "food poisoning". It's why I'm at the computer so much today. My office is right next to my "facilities" if I have to run.

Feeling much better now actually.
One thing to remember is that food poisoning symptoms usually don't show up until 24 hours after eating the food in question. Is that what happened?

Well then, here's another one for your enjoyment:

Back in 2006, Rush commented on a news story with the following headline: "Waistlines continue to grow in U.S." (I thought it was an interesting article so I saved it.)

The reason I bring this up is because he said something that surprised me. He said something to this effect: "What's the big deal anyway? Gaining weight is only natural." Well, I'm sure you will agree that gaining weight is natural, especially if looked at from an historical perspective.

Now, RichieLion, I have a question for you: Why doesn't Rush say the same thing about teenage girls who get pregnant and have babies out of wedlock? Isn't getting pregnant and having babies "natural?" This is what females have been doing since the beginning of time.

Why is one natural thing okay but the other not, when both have detrimental social and economic consequences?

There are many forms of food-related illness. Food-related illness can produce symptoms (cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, fever) from mild to very serious, with illness occurring from 30 minutes to 2 weeks after eating food containing harmful bacteria.-www.medicinenet.com

Thanks Villages PL and Katz for your concern on my short bout of intestinal discomfort. It did occur about a day after the lunch buffet I suspect. The only thing is that I'm the only one of 16 people I went to the buffet with that got sick. So I don't know what it was.

I had no fever and no vomiting, just intestinal pain and the runs. It felt a lot like what happens when you drink that gallon of awful stuff the doctor gives you before "you know what" testing.

I guess it'll be a mystery. I'm better now and hope I don't have to go through that again any time soon.

Have you had a colonoscopy in the recent past. Sounds a bit like diverticulosis to me. I should know, I suffer from it, and it is not pleasant.

Except the prep for "you know what" isn't painful, just a pain in the "you know where"...Still, I hope it was a passing (pun intended) bug! Take care

Plus. God only knows who coughed or sneezed what on that buffet OR what got left out too long...Happens to me at most buffets, so I have sworn off them.
I bet Mrs. RichieLion's food is much better anyway. If she makes you sick, she will feel obligated to nurse you back to health.

Nothing Jan, but I appreciated the concern.

I'm sorry for precipitating the discussion on intestinal problems.

You may go back to bashing Rush whenever you're of a mind to.

My wife has that condition and she doesn't think that's what I went through. Maybe if it happens again I check further. I'm not due for the colon test and I'm not going to rush that experience.

Thanks though, I appreciate the thought.
