.
I would like more information on a vegetarian lifestyle. I'm curious. If you were to hold an information meeting, I'd attend. I think that was your original question.

Strange.

I'm only posting this subject for those that care about their heath in the form of diet rather than pills meds and surgery.

but I'm certainly not twisting anyone's arm, eat as you wish if you don't care. (don't let your scripts expire)

But if you do I'll be happy to answer questions or refer to books etc.

.
How long are you doing the Vegan thing?

I think you have some interested people .... some committed, some skeptical, some confused .... but wanting to learn more. When is the first meeting?

As with most everything there are plenty of contradictory views as well.
There are plenty of contradictory views. In fact there are many cardiologists who have the exact opposite opinion. They believe that most heart, cardiovascular, and weight problems come from excess sugar mostly from carbohydrates. many recommend staying away from carbs and eating mostly low fat proteins in the form of chicken, fish and low fat beef and pork.

I'm not saying that one is right and one is wrong. In fact I am very confused because the evidence presented and results attained by both of these groups is impressive.

I've tried the vegan thing for about three months and I've put on about 10 pounds. I've probably been too much into carbs like rice and pasta, but I find it very difficult to follow the green leafy vegetable diet. It takes a lot of time to make meals and eating out, in spite of what they say is pretty much impossible.

I don't go to doctors anymore so I have no idea what my sugar and cholesterol numbers are. I'll probably go have them checked in January when my new insurance kicks in.

They also say that reasonable alcohol consumption is fine. What is that? Is 2-3 beers a day reasonable?

Winston I can say with authority, that it is virtually impossible to gain weight.

No one ever reported that unless they didn't realize something in their diet was wrong.

If I do set up a meeting you may want to attend, you are eating something very wrong.

Ok if there's interest we'll have a get together, I'll be there in two weeks.

Can someone that knows how to reserve a room in a rec center help arrange it?

Or where ever else may work.

Like I said a lot of pasta, rice, quinoa with beans, corn and other vegetables. Lots of salad with lettuce, corn, beans, cucumber, celery, olives, beets, carrots and only balsamic vinegar as a dressing. Two or three beers a day. A bowl of very low sugar cereal with a banana and sometimes some blueberries and low fat, low sugar soy milk in the morning.

I make my own pasta sauce with no oil. I put onions, peppers, olives and mushrooms in it.
Veggies? Did you read my post? I listed everything that I put in my salads which I eat every day.
I only buy whole wheat pasta and brown rice. Nothing enriched.
The other thing about this way of living is that I'm hungry all the time. I eat lunch and want to eat again within 15 minutes. Then I want to eat again a few hours later.
