Default Luigino's much improved

I wrote to this column months ago about the bad service I received and the apathy on the part of the manager.
I am very HAPPY to report that things have changed for the better.
I attended the Easter buffet with my family. The food was more than good, but the biggest change was the attentiveness of the staff. Plenty of help available,
They kept the warming trays filled and hustled to make everyone's experience positive.
There was constant supervision of the staff by management. Management made a point to visit with us to insure we were please with our meal.

I WILL BE A RETURN OFTEN. KEEP IT UP LUIGINO'S.

Glad to hear about this. Luigino's opened a few weeks after my last visit, and I have wanted to try out this place when I return in June.

Exclamation The Italian restaurant in Spanish Springs square has a terrible manager

We have a home in the Villages and had friends that wanted Italian food. We chose Luganos (if that is the right spelling) We asked the manager for a table outside for five & he said his tables outside only seated four. We went inside & the hostess asked us where we wanted to sit....we said five outside. She said follow me and we did.

She said it's happy hour until 8 and wine is half price. We said good & ordered some nice glasses of wine (not house). When the bill came we were charged full price & questioned it. The manager was called over & he said that's only house wine and was quite matter of fact. We said your hostess didn't tell us (she had gone home he said) & we expected he would do the right thing by us. He didn't. I finally said I would have to penalize the waitress & I didn't want to do that. He sighed, made a face & the wine was changed. Our friends, however, didn't get an adjustment. I will never go back there as long as he is the manager.....the food was good though!

Thumbs up Excellent dinner at Luigino's

I had the the lobster and crab ravioli tonight -- excellent. My friends also enjoyed their meals - lasagna -- enough to feed 2 people. Great bread. Would definitely go back to Luigino's.

Default Gross food

Heard lots about Luigino"s and was excited to finally be going. Wow was I so wrong, I should have saved my money and stayed home. It was so cold inside you might have thought you were at a meat locker. The pasta was warm at best and as you got to the center of the pile it was cold, grilled chicken was burned and dry. Worst meal I have had since moving to the villages three years ago. Save your money and stay home.

Hopefully you made someone in management at the restaurant aware of the issue(s) while you were there.

It's always a shame when such basic issues like those come up. But I've always found that politely informing/discussing it with management is the best way to help bring about a resolution and also improvements for the future. If those kinds of things become continual issues (or if management doesn't seem to take it seriously when you bring it to their attention), a restaurant probably won't stay in business too long.

Sorry to hear you had the problem!

You may want to consider if the restaurant manager was terrible or the waitress mistaken . It may be that the manager believed that four at the outside tables were more accomodating and comfortable for people than five. Also while I don't eat out much restaurants normally only make available house wines for their happy hours. However the really beneficial outcome for you and your guests is that you enjoyed the food and around here that indeed is a rarity

Ciao

I agree. I ate there about a month ago for the first time and immediately crossed it off my list. The food was just not good.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our past experiences at Luigino's and because our daughter was visiting, we wanted to take her there this evening. Once again, we had a great experience!

Our daughter had the Penne Vodka, a dish I've had in the past, and she loved it. My wife ordered pasta Bolognese and it was as good as her last visit. I ordered the cowboy rib eye and it was cooked perfectly and great tasting. This was the first time I ordered a non pasta dish at Luigino's and given tonight's experience, it won't be my last.

We enjoyed a great dinner and bottle of wine. Unlike other restaurants, at no point did we feel rushed. We even have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow!

Restaurant experiences are quite subjective and after several visits to Luigino's, I continue to look forward to our next visit.

I had dinner there last night and was very disappointed with the management. A reservation was made 3 weeks ago for the dinner buffet. We called to update the number of guests and they could not find the reservation. We were told not to worry and it would be added to the list. When we arrived we were told there was no reservation and the best they could do was seat the 8 of us at two different tables that they refused to put together. There were no apologies from management and even though the food was good and the wait staff was attentive we were very uncomfortable with the seating arrangements. I will not be back there for the buffet in the future.
