Dang it Russ, why do you have to bring the "get real" part of this voting. I agree, the winner will ultimately be the one that the teens and tweens vote for. And who would that be???? Duh. Scotty is good however and I conclude that at this stage it is more of a popularity contest for those who vote. Most of the top five to seven contestants (maybe more) will wind up with a recording contract or a singing gig with a band when the dust settles. I have just so enjoyed this season. In my view it was the best group of talented singers yet on Idol.

Don't get me wrong - I think these guys are very talented. But as with year's past some very talented people don't make the finale. (Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry, James Durbin etc.)

Russ, reread my post and you know how you think it is supposed to be stated and how it might be misconstrued. I was trying to 100 percent agree with you about the idea that the winner is chosen by the demographic of the most voters and not necessarily by the talent displayed. I hated to see Durbin go as well. My bad if my post was taken wrong. Dang, I'm still getting used to this posting thing. Hope I get better as time goes on.

No problem with your post. I really was just responding to my own post about how people vote.

Normally if I want to 'answer' a post I would quote it first, then answer.

You made good points.

I don't think that talent or performance has much to do with the voting when you are down to the final three. In the end, AI becomes a personality test (the lesser talents have already been eliminated) and the voters' opinions are pretty well set by now. When there are only three contestants remaining, a performer would have to have a horrific night to have the bad performance impact their final place in the competition. So it comes down to the tween vote, and my guess is that Haley will win that. I wouldn't vote for her (I'd vote for Scotty), but I'm an old white male, and everybody knows that we don't vote!

Scotty is a good ol' American boy who yesterday asked all the young girls in America if they were "gonna kiss him, or what?". I may be a grandpa, but I'm thinking he knew what he was doing.

Now it's just down to Lauren and Scotty. Both are great talents. Haley will be a success, also, I predict. My bet is on Lauren.

No, I don't bother to vote. I'm just a watcher. But, I mostly am on the money every week as to who is voted off. It's a gift.

I think they probably got the final two right though I really enjoy Haley rocking. And I think Scotty will be the last one standing.

So now it's down to Lauren and Scotty. I'm sorry that James was eliminated. As Bosoxfan said, "it's a teenage popularity contest", and there's nothing wrong with that! The final two contestants both have tons of self confidence, wonderful stage presence, great voices, and maturity way beyond their years.

I think anyone who get to be in the top five is a winner and will go on to have a great career.

As Bosoxfan said, "it's a teenage popularity contest".

I agree with Bosox.

I would like for Pia to have a career. I thought she was a great singer who could really belt out a tune.

May 29th. PBS will air a live event; a tribute the the 9-11 victims in a special concert from the Capitol Lawn in Washington D.C. hosted by Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna.

Pia Toscano will be performing at that event FYI.
