I think many are underestimating the talent and creativity of Philip Philips. Not only was his cover of Bob Seger's "We Got Tonight a masterful performance, but his recreation of The Four Seasons "Beggin", leaning heavy on the feel of Madcon's take on this song, was the most all out rockin' jump up and down performance of the night, in my opinion. I just loved it.
Joshua and Jessica have big voices, but Philip stands alone in his uniqueness. Phil Philips is the next American Idol.

I have been wondering why Phillips has not been in the Ford commercials. At first I thought it was because he was sick the first time. But he hasn't been in about the last four times. Perhaps he is not a Ford man and thus doesn't want to be in it. Anyone seen the reason why?

I googled and could not find a reason Philip is not doing the Ford commercial.
The two finalists get a Ford next week. That will be interesting to watch. Richie mentioned Phil's first song Beggin'. I probably had more Four Season albums in the 60s than any other group. I googled it and enjoyed. |

Doing the Bob Seger song won me over..and I don't feel bad about any of them going "home" because with the talent they have all shown I'm sure they will have great futures. I thought I heard something about Jimmy already signing Joshua (or maybe I'm making it up??

Overall an entertaining show, except for the latest J-Lo 10 minute promotion of her latest whatever. I'm glad I had the Yankee game on the flip channel during that self engrandizing nonsensical crap. Congrats to Phillip. I was pulling for the voice (Jessica) but he's a special talent for sure.
Can somebody tell me what the hell was that insane performance(?) by Fantasia Burrino??? It was a screamfest between her and Joshua (whom I usually like very much, but not this time) and she was acting like someone who had something very wrong with her. Too weird for me. |

Well Phillip Phillips won. My personal choice would have been Jessica Sanchez but with all the young girls voting so many times; it is usually the attractive teen to twenty male who wins. That's been the case in the last three AI winners.

I had Philips pegged to win because of his uniqueness and his musicianship. He reimagined other artists songs in a way that made them seem new, and you couldn't help moving when he turned a song into a rocker.
Jessica and Joshua have good voices when they can keep them under control. Phil Philips was the only true music artist of the whole group. (except for Colton Dixon, who should have been there at the end)

I am quite cynical about all reality shows...this one included. I love watching AI and watching how these talented young people grow during the course of the show. When Jessica was voted off the show, then saved by the panel, it seemed scripted. It only makes sense to me that the Phil was chosen over the incredibly gifted Jessica because Phils style will appeal to a larger audience, therefore making lots of money for the American Idol corporation. (I have to admit, I grew to really love Phil these past few weeks, especially when he did our hometown guy's song..We've Got Tonight.). This is where the cynical part comes in...they could tell us ANYTHING about the voting and we have no way of knowing what the truth is. This is all a money making business and we are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy it.

I was a fan of Philip from the beginning. He is an artist, not just a singer. He can take most any song and make it a "Phil Phillips" song and it takes talent to be able to rework a famous song and have people like it. He is very humble, and I don't believe he knows how good he really is. Last night when he sang after he won and then couldn't finish the son due to emotion, my heart went out to him because I think he may have been struggling more than the other contestants due to his illness. I think the world finally came down on him last night and he just let his emotions go and his guard down. These contestants are under a lot of pressure, get little sleep and are away from home for a long time. I think we forget that most of them are just "children" in a big people's world with huge expectations of them. My hat goes off to all of them for a great job.
