The guy confessed to the police when we told him prior to the police arriving that we had a dash cam. $150 dash cam kept the guy honest. Last edited by GizmoWhiskers; 05-22-2023 at 06:05 AM. |

Best yet reason to live in a bubble with over 100 miles of golf cart paths! Love it!

The reason why USAA went up so much is because of last years hurricane. USAA doesn't insure homes on the coast, but they did take a "HUGE" hit on all the vehicles destroyed, flooded, etc from Hurricane Ian.

I have been with them for 40 years and my car/golf carts premium doubled! I looked around and went with AAA, which was HALF of previous premium for exactly the same coverage. I stayed with USAA for home insurance as that premium only increased $230 and was competitive with other insurance companies.

Been with usaa 45 years. This year i got $350 back from the "subscribers savings account" and $750 back from senior discount...over$1000 total, on top of decent rates ($1100 on 2 year old subaru and $1200 on home)

Well those thoughts were in my head as well after the last renewal but…….we get back a dividend check every year which I apply toward the price increase and then I consider the thousands of dollars that is “banked” in my account. I understand that once we leave USAA that is released to us as cash. Figured that, given our age and the couple of bucks I might save if I jumped ship (for the first year before that insurance company bumped it up), I might as well stand the course.

Was that for the new car discount that USAA would have given you also?

I could be wrong but I believe that the uninsured coverage also gives you liability protection if you are injured. I would get a clear explanation of coverage before I eliminated the coverage.
If you change to a different carrier you might get a better introductory rate but it will go up quickly. It is generally better to stay with one carrier for the long term unless you are saving a bunch of money. |

I have USAA and wouldn't change for "cheaper". I've had to file 2 claims, 1 home and 1 car, in the last 2 years, and both were handled quickly, easily, and worked out as much in my favor as I could have hoped. The customer service is hard to beat. Yes, my golf cart insurance went from $120/yr to $180/yr...but if they knew we were riding in the lane next to cars going 35, it would be $1500!
