We are up north now and can't wait to get to our Villages home ASAP! It's currently -2 outside and the min/max thermometer says it got to -8 last night, and the wind is howling so I can only guess what the wind chill is? As an avid former skier I used to live for the winter, but with bad knees now, I have no need for cold and snow. What is worse is the ice, very dangerous and easy to slip and fall. Our dog doesn't even want to go out in this weather as her paws instantly freeze. Not to mention how short the days are up north. At the Villages the sun sets almost an hour later than up here, where it is pitch dark before 5 PM this time of year.
When we are up north we always wish we were at the Villages, when we are at the Villages we never wish we could go back north. Dam those responsibilities keeping us from becoming FROGS. |

I believe TV has about 18,000 veterans, I think as a group those of us are use to change and moving all over the country and the world. Others who have worked for large national companies have also experienced moves for their job. The ones who have grown up and lived their whole life near family in the same town or city probably have the greatest difficulty when making a major move. If you're considering the move strictly for improved weather, maybe seasonal stays are best for you. For the others looking for better weather, lifestyle, travel and adventure, then make the move to Florida without hesitation, because it's here.

The longest 20 years I ever spent in 30 months was in upstate New York. 144" of snow one winter!
Last night it was about 10 degrees F in NYC at midnight whereas in Moscow, Russia it was (only) 33 degrees F. Weird, huh? Frankly, I prefer to live in a warm climate. If I want to see snow up close I can drive or fly to it up on a mountain somewhere and stay at a ski resort if I so choose.

So, in '15 we rented a house here in The Villages and stayed until all the snow melted back in NY. Much smarter! While here in '15 we decided to buy a house so that we could come back every Winter and not have to pay the high rent. Genius! Do it, you won't regret it. -- Bob C |

I think the thing that struck me the most was the $49 utility bill my tenant got in Florida this month versus the $240 utility bill we got up here. I said to my husband - we could have saved almost $200 just this month by having moved to Florida! To my misfortune, he didn't bite. Counting down the winters here and will be happy to say good riddance. I figure if I ever yearn for any of the white stuff, it's nothing a short visit up north won't cure. |

![]() We've been seasonal residents in TV for the past ten years from November to April. We would miss the seasons, but we spend spring, summer and fall in Ontario. And NO, we do not miss the coldness of winter one little bit. ![]()

Yes it can be that cold. There were several days when we had to wear winter jackets, hats, and gloves when we lived in Melbourne three times. No boots though. But still there were wonderful days during winter times.

I'm from Massachusetts and as I got older the cold really does a number on my body. I'll take the summer heat/humidity here in Florida over the north any day. A short plane flight and I can go back to visit family. I'm glad I'm here!

Woke up this morning on Long Island and it was 7 degrees. At 7:00 our electric went out. Due to the extreme cold outside it immediately started to get cold in the house. Thank goodness only out for 1.5 hours. Worried about our pipes freezing.

My AC bill in FL has never approached the cost of fuel oil in the winters of Taxachusetts. We don’t miss the snow, cold, winter, and..oh yes - the outrageous real estate and income taxes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
