I feel that putting every form of ID, payments, account numbers, family information, etc. etc. on your cell phone is really not a good idea. With all the hackers and IT individuals who try to take advantage of us all, not just old people but the public in general it is so dangerous to have it all on your phone. Just per chance, can you imagine if you happen to lose your phone and one of those nasty, very technically intelligent hacker persons gets ALL your info?
I find that there are lots of times rather than carry all the cards, especially simple things like grocery store discounts, pharmacies, etc. just use your cell/home phone number. |

What will it cost The Villages and what is the benefit to The Villages? It won’t ever happen until the benefit matches or outweighs the cost. And their math skills are excellent.

Don't worry, we're moving in more and more by the day. To us, having a phone with us at all times is common place. It is an everyday appendage! lol

As more and more of the next generation moves in, that will have to change. Its just the way it is. Technology is not a bad thing.

Just had this conversation last night. We surmise it will take 10 to 15 years until this catches on but when it happens I will jump for joy!!

Or they simply don’t like being surgically connected to a cell phone full of apps that track everything they do.

When you vote Back home they don’t even have to show their ID and you can’t force them to. Not good in my opinion

Nothing is or ever will be perfect. We still use checks-Imagine. We moved to the villages about eight years ago. I have no idea how they got our address. I was turned over for collection for a claimed unpaid water bill. Typical of many companies, rather than investigate they turn you in for collection and you get stuck doing their job. The water company was sold. Due to their error or previous error they had my bill as un-paid. Perhaps, used to dealing with dead beats. I gave them my check number date etc. They went away for a year or two and then started the same thing again. They were shocked when I demanded a letter stating what the issue was and that if I was KIND ENOUGH to send them a copy of the cancelled check they would resolve the matter. I did that. As expected a year latter they started again. I told them to research their letter dated, signed by......... Paper pencil, pen still is useful. Imagine doing this as they expect-on line banking. My credit is excellent. We all have disputes. I always insist on a signed letter of apology and I have a pile of them. Computers do not solve all problems. For many things they change things, invent new problems and or make old problems more difficult to resolve. Mark Twain said something like-We don't make any progress because we lose what was. |

Just one opinion, but don't think I'd like the idea of having to take my cell phone every time I went to a pool or played golf, but would be fine with me as long as you didn't HAVE to have a cell phone with you, would continue to be an ID card. My other concern is that most of these are associated with large populations (air travelers, Starbucks customers) so the investment in the technology would pay off. But for Villagers ? WHO would pay the huge initial and on going costs since that would require substantial PROFITS the are sustainable; surely not the owner/developers ? Perhaps the $50 cost of a card could be pushed up to cover the app and associated technology ? For me it works just fine for me but would not fight it if this is what our community wants ! I would hate the idea that if I lost a phone (?) and cards were no longer accepted, that I would have no access to amenities until I waited the period to find or recover the phone... that's why it would not make much sense to discontinue the ID cards completely IMO. BTW, I've had very spotty success with my digital passport ! I for one will no longer rely on it !
