Let it grow. No one has to come down to this "remote" location. If you don't live down here the construction shouldn't bother you, 468, 301, Buena Vista, all will soon be in the midst of construction and when completed travel will be much easier in this area. Why should they not build for those who want to live here. It is not totally disconnected, only a temporary disconnect for golf carts, and only an additional few miles away from everything north. You might as well get used to it, this will be the only area available as soon as Pine & Osceola is completed and I believe the only area where you will be able to build on a golf course, and there are lots of good water view lots here. I'm sure they are already looking into the future for more ways of expanding and it should be welcomed. I agree with you that there is no jealousy on your part and not really negative but there is a lot of bitterness or hurt regarding future building.

We'll have 4 months to check out Fenney. So far, being from rural Minnesota, we prefer way up north near 42...but double garages are hard to find.

Smile Bridge over Turnpike is already there !!!

There is already a bridge over the turnpike. If you go to Google Earth and zoom down just south of the Okahumpka Service Plaza on the turnpike you will see the bridge. It's called "Bailey Rd" and will allow movement north and south over the roadway. Hope it will not be two years before golf cart access is available.

It took us twelve years to buy. First look in 2000 and finally bought in 2012. All of the stars had to align first. LOL

My stars are slow to align. But I was a young babe of 49 when I first discovered The Villages. Patience, grasshopper, I keep telling myself.

Default One Bedroom Patio Villas

I see The Villages is now selling one bedroom patio villas in The Village of Fenney. Currently there are 4 of them for sale, $128,498 to $144,093.

Think of resale-- 1 bedroom may have a limited audience

Think storage, guests using your master bath, doing laundry in the garage in the heat, and did I say storage or lack of it. Chat brat is right, re-sale could be tough. There is a world of difference between a 2/2 and a 1/1 but they have lots of choices down here.

Stay in your budget, which sounds like you are doing.

I have always said, it's about the lifestyle, not the house.

Good luck on your continued search! There's no place I'd rather be than right here in TV.

For $166K in Fenney you can get a 2BR 2BA Patio Villa with a 2 Car Garage. That's money in the bank. You know how many people would love to have a 2 car garage. Especially in Fenney I think you'll find those who don't golf or plan to golf buy in that village.

Owning two full size cars instead of a golf cart would be a great option for those, especially until a square is built or connecting cart paths are built, driving to a lot of Villages locations in a car will be the norm. Just going to the grocery store is a 5 mile trip that requires crossing SR44. Also Fenney lends itself to those who still work with it's access to the Turnpike and Orlando and to local areas such as Leesburg, Eustis, Clermont and Tavares.

This Topaz model has a freestanding Island similar to what you find in the Hommock Cottage that can easily seat 3 bar stools. Also the adjoining dinning area is vinyl flooring, that was one of the first things we did in our CYV, remove the carpeting from the dinning area. Here it is already done plus your W/D is inside the home. The front foyer has a much larger area before the carpeting starts. It appears they've looked at their two patio villa models, the Colony and the Cabot Cove and took the best parts of some cottages and put them into these new designs.

As far as staying in your budget. We purchased in 2011 and was all set to buy a new 2BR Cabot Cove patio villa in Buttonwood for $140K with vaulted ceilings and white kitchen cabinets and with a Dutch Roof, which I really like. We had sold our home in the north in one day, so I called my salesman Tony Trussler and was going to buy over the telephone. We had just returned from a week's stay and with these style homes you can only buy from existing inventory. That's when Tony told me a new 2BR CYV masonry construction and fenced yard was available for only $17K more, it had been reduced from $169K to $157K one village further south. We thought about it and even though though it was a little more, the reach was well worth it.

Oh, I'm not buying anything yet (I can't kidnap my dad and force him to move with me to Florida ). It was more like an observation that the developer is building one bedroom patio villas again. I know there are some one bedroom patio villas in established villages, but it seems like has been a while since the one bedroom option has been available in new construction. I think a lanai would be a must have for me in a home.

I wonder how many people who own one bedroom patio villas are frogs vs. snowbirds/seasonal residents or those who buy them for purely investment purposes and rent them out during high season and during the resf of the year as much as they can?
