Default Catching Thieves

During COVID there was a large uptick in appliance thieves in new construction zones and areas, the gates cameras helped cut that down and many were caught. The cameras and gates are a great added security measure here.

Did the developer get it right, or does the law deny a private entity the ability to question someone using a public road?

But based on some recent reports on this and other sites, I wish they would "query" some people intensely.

Gates and gate cards are here to say. I don't mind gates as I am using using my cloned gate card in the mirror to auto open the gates.

Don’t hold your breath. That “cloned” card still needs to be listed as active on the system. Or was that a clone of your own card??

At a manned gate, sometimes visitors stop and ask questions which slows things down.

Even longer slow down when they think gates go up on their own. Drive past the button/card reader, and just sit for awhile waiting for the gate to go up

Happens everyday, until car behind open the gate for them, problem is the person still doesn’t understand how the gates work.

That's interesting. Can you propose some criteria for screening non residents?

Where are you getting any of this? What the heck is a "imbedded passive RF code"? If you don't know how to spell embedded properly, then there's zero chance you have much technical knowledge on this subject.

The cloned cards will still work.
Exactly!

They are also using licence plate reading camera's in some construction areas and the street of dreams.

The only gate that REALLY is affected is the gate in the historical side that lets you in / out to get to BJ'S and Lowes. It's not manned and doesn't have a red button. So if you don't have an active card you're out of luck.

IMHO, the visitor side is to be used like the visitor parking spaces at businesses and church. It’s like opening the door for a guest.. be polite, use the right.

In my case, the cloned card I am using is a clone of my issued card given to me during the purchase of my house in the Villages.

So, my personal cloned card should work until I sell my house. District staff seems to state that all cloned cards will not work which I believe is not correct. Waiting to see what happens at the end of June.

People sometimes wait for someone to go through that gate and get close behind them and ride their tail through the gate without using a valid card. When someone tries to do that behind me, I pause my cart until the gate begins to close so they can’t get through behind me. I’ve been flipped off a couple times for doing that, but it doesn’t bother me in the least.

I've never used that gate but I hope if I ever do that I'll remember to do the same thing.

It's also very useful if I'm taking a left immediately after the gate, since the visitor's lane is the left lane, and the resident's lane is the right lane.

Conversely - if I'm taking a right immediately after the gate, I always get in the resident's lane on the right.

At the Boone gate, it actually matters since the cross street is Paradise, and that's the main road that runs parallel to 441 on the Historic side. Traffic there can be pretty awkward. Cars coming in from 441 do NOT have a stop sign at the intersection. Their stop sign upon their approach to the gate. Once that gate is up, they are supposed to move and /not/ stop.
