Default How many of you who added pools are very satisfied with your decision?

After just reading the long list of opinions with regard to the unfriendliness at a certain neighborhood pool, I noticed the thread was closed.....

However, even though we never used any of the neighborhood pools when we visited for the five weeks.......we did totally enjoy the swimming pool which was under the birdcage off the lanai of our home rental. Lovely, with a waterfall......and heated.

We decided then and there, and still feel 100% sure that we will either add a new pool or else buy a home that already has a pool in good condition.

It would solve all the problems of the "high school or middle school clique"
mentality that seems to be out there.......sad to say.

Having been pool owners in the home where we raised our family, we found it very convenient to have the inground pool right off the back sliders and deck...........who needs to drive away when you have it in the privacy of your own home.

The Villages homes are ideal for pools with the sliders off the master bedroom as well as off the living room or great room areas............
perfect for guests, visiting grandchildren and ourselves.........privacy.

Nice to eat out there .....near the pool......read out there.....and what a nice view when you walk into those homes and "look past the interior" out to the lanai and pool.........just refreshing to look at the water in your own back yard....."under a bird cage" which to us is a great plus for keeping out the leaves and bugs.

Who needs to revert back in time to the high school popularity contest?
Why go to pools where there is a clique? Or anywhere else for that matter? Very childish to be rude to the original poster.

How many of you who added pools are very satisfied with your decision?

After having a pool for 28 years, I am not not inclined to have a pool. Too much work! However a summer time stay in TV may change my mind.

... I keep hearing about the social aspects of TV. Clubs, get togethers and the like. I would think this would extend to the pools also. Pools could be a great gathering spot to meet and get together with other TVers. Anyways what is the real deal when it comes to pools, do many people in TV even go swimming?

Love my pool. If you do it you should buy or build one large enough to swim in. Can't believe folks waste so much money building pools that resemble large bathtubs.

Very satisfied with our decision to have a pool. A pool was one item on our wish list, when we were looking to buy here, that we had to have. There are many reasons why we like it so much but probably the biggest reason is that it is ours and we have the freedom to pretty much use it whenever and however we want to.

I would also add that I disagree with the post about the cost being high. Not true. We have found the cost of the pool here versus the one we had back in CT is quite a bit less.

If one desires privacy they would be better off living in a rural area. I moved to the Villages to get away from that isolation. I find the neighborhood pools to be a great place to swim and chat with my neighbors. If you want some privacy to read, etc., you could always go to another pool outside your area, but I have always enjoyed swimming in my local pool. I had a pool in my back yard when I lived in California and I, personally, would never get one again. It was too much work and money, I love just taking my golf cart down to the neighborhood pool. No work, no fuss.

I find the Villages to be a very friendly place and I have no problem meeting and chatting with all kinds of people. I think people just need to get themselves out there to enjoy the camaraderie that abounds in the Villages.

Absolutely would do my pool again. I might change the composition of the decking. It makes the summers OK.

I respect your opinion to not have a pool as it is an individual decision.

Personally, I would not like to live in a rural part of Florida........we found The Villages to have everything anyone would need and then some.....

Having always had our own inground pool (Olympic sized with sliding board and diving board, steps at the shallow end........of course the diving board at the deep end.) we did not feel it was too much of an expense....and aren't worried about the expense in TV as it will get a lot of use.

Two dermatologists have advised hubby to soak in a chlorinated pool for his skin issues....what better than at home??? Day or night. Nice relaxing dip before bedtime.

We plan to build a large pool for swimming.......with a spa at one end.......we’ve seen many beautiful ones in The Villages, photos shared by owners. SHARE SOME MORE PICS....

We believe a bird caged pool will increase the aesthetic value of our lanai and property in general. Keeping out bugs and leaves, etc.

We would use our pool as a 4 season entertainment center, and our five grandkids love pools. Ditto our two adult children and their two spouses.

Easier to have it off the living area.....then to keep driving to the pools....not to say we'd never use them.......I'm sure we would.

When our adult children and grandbaby visited, they spent a lot of time in the pool before “naptime” so it’s CONVENIENT. No driving to a pool.

Our elementary aged and middle school aged and older teen grandchildren love to swim, dive, snorkel and are like FISH in the water.
They even have their birthday parties at pools.....to invite their friends who also love to swim.....

Pools provide an easy way to instantly cool down on hot days. It’s just nice to dine out by the pool....again, convenient from the home. Pretty to look at the water from inside the home.

A Swimming pool is great for in water exercise , adding health benefits.

Swimming pools can bring added value at resale, especially in hot climates like Florida...........

Hubby sold his boat and towing vehicle and is looking forward to using that profit to go "towards" his big inground birdcaged pool. I know he will get a lot of enjoyment from it.

I've noticed almost everyone uses the same pool installer so I've made notes and appreciate all of the input from everyone so far...........please share some pics if you can. Thank you in advance.

We have owned four homes with inground pools and found we didn't use them as much as we could, while the maintenance was unrelenting. Great for when the grandkids were visiting, but otherwise, not so much. I was working full time when we owned the pools, so more leisure time might encourage more pool time! Having said that, none were in a climate like TV, especially in the winter, so that may be different there. If I were inclined to have a pool today, I would definitely go for a salt water pool with solar heat. However, in our case, if we purchase a home in TV we will likely be there no more than six months out of the year, so don't think a pool would be logical. We have rented in three different villages and found the pools in each, during the busy season, to be relatively uncrowded and friendly. We have rented a home in Hemingway for the last three years, and the pool is within walking distance, so the convenience factor is definitely mitigated by that proximity.

Always had a pool. We put a pool in both homes we've had in the Villages. I would definitely do it again. We like relaxing in our own pool as well as having friends over for a pool party.

We love our new pool and enjoy it as a water feature too. We like hearing the water from the falls and sconces and the cost was well worth it.
That's our opinion and we are sticking to it.

110%

We switched lots to have room to build one.

I know about a half dozen couples that added one in last 6 months and one more will install one soon.

It's as Florida as a palm tree

We've always had a pool cause I love the water. When we moved here in May 2010 we decided we would not have a pool and would use the neighborhood pool. I think I went to the pool about 10 times the first year, maybe 4 times the next year. Luckily our lot was big enough to add a pool which we did January 2013. Absolutely love having a pool again! The birdcage makes it so easy to take care of compared to our other pools. I use it every day and love just hanging out and reading.

Default Two thumbs up on a pool

We had our pool built when we built our home and every day we mention how glad we are that we did. The convenience of just walking out to our lanai to swim is priceless. I don't want to swim in a pool where other sweaty people are swimming or using instead of a shower. Even in the winter just sitting by it to read a book is wonderfully relaxing. We wouldn't change a thing. Built a 16X 32 and it even looks bigger. We had 8 people in it yesterday and could have easily fit 8 more. Love it.

Different strikes for different folks!
The pool homes look lovely! And I am sure that most owners do really enjoy them.

We had an in ground pool when we were raising our family in Florida. While in Utah for the past 10 yrs we have had a hot tub/spa. And enjoyed both over the years.

But we have absolutely NO interest in a pool in TV. There are dozens of pools here that are conveniently located. And we don't have to clean them or pay an extra line item in our budget to maintain them. To us that's a great perk!!

If there were few pools, crowded and distant, we might feel differently. But we are thrilled to have access to so many lovely pools with out the work involved. If you find people unfriendly at one pool, choose a different pool or a different time to go.

We visited 3 pools during out LSV and found people friendly and welcoming. At least there are lots of locations to choose from.
That is one of the things that impressed us the most during our visit!!
