I am guessing that there will be a number of Villagers who will want to use an indoor pool for "just relaxing" and avoiding the hot sun. And a number of athletes who want to excercise and/or swim laps, and participate in organized events. In my mind, there will have to be a balance reached to accommodate everyone.

I have to agree wholeheartedly. We looked at a couple of Del Webb/Sun City communities before we found The Villages. After that there was no sense looking elsewhere.

I for one think an indoor 25 yard long sport/lap swimming pool would be a great idea! As a dedicated lap swimmer' I would gladly pay a fee! Lap swimmers currently are very limited in the outdoor sport pools. We generally can only swim very early AM or before dark. The pools are taken by other activities during the rest of the day. Also, backstrokers desperately need pools with flags so they don't hit their heads on the wall (ouch). Also, I think it is great to see the developer adding much needed amenities in an area where they are not trying to sell new homes. Will miss the dog park where the pool is planned, but progress always comes at a price.

I agree with everything you said. Perhaps the fees for an indoor regulation lap-competitive pool could be part of the Priority Golf-Pool-Tennis, or Priority Pool-Tennis, or Priority Pool upgrade memberships.

Or it could be a separate membership fee like the fitness or woodshop facilities, but that wouldn't have as many payers as Priority Golf-Pool-Tennis, who are basically buying a "country-club" type upgrade.

She and Rotan probably pushing it on the developers land over by Rio Grande pool so the developers can get some of they're law suit money back. They keep pushing this parcel over the 40 acres in the north (not the NE) that lacks amenities which the law suit was over IMO. Course I sure all that live south el Camino Reno have different opinions?

I noticed that, also. I laughed when I read that the privately owned remaining land contiguous to the Morse property could be purchased using the "fast take" process. That sounds like a well thought out plan. This was actually proposed by Ms. Tutt! Purchase the Morse property; then purchase the remaining surrounding property using the court system to force the owners to sell. Not to mention the access and parking issues with this location. It is so obvious, and yet, I'm afraid the district supervisors are seriously considering this foolish endeavor.

The priority memberships still require a substantial user fee each time the facility is used; as much as $8 per person for tennis, $30-$40 for golf?; pools are free, but are open to families. I wonder how many people would be willing to pay $5-$8 each time plus a monthly fee to use an indoor swimming pool. I'm guessing very few.

With more than 80 pools accessible for the residents, and not more than a short golf cart ride between them, it would seem reasonable for at least 5 be covered. Four poles and a canvas roof would be cheaper than indoor pools. Seniors with Sun issues are paying for amenities they cannot use.

If memory serves, they attempted to do that at LaHacienda sports pool not too long ago and folks up there threw a huge hissy fit. So much so that TV scrapped the idea. Now, where is the indoor pool going?
