I didn't mean we should get them, just that they look better than bunches of varying bags of trash sitting out there, and the rollout canisters aren't subject to being torn open by animals etc.

if your neighborhood has such deed restrictions and covenants, perhaps you can just turn them in to community watch. might not be so neighborly but it might resolve your problem.

Apparently this is more of a problem in new areas as opposed to older areas, therefore it could be that new residents are not aware of the proper procedures. As I recall from years ago, it was written that 6:30pm the night before pick-up was the earliest to put your garbage out. Perhaps the Daily Sun could print an informational article.

district 1 deed restriction reads:
Garbage/Trash - Some restrictions state that all garbage shall be contained in plastic bags
and placed curbside no earlier than the day before scheduled pick up as determined by the
individual solid waste hauler. Yard waste shall be contained in biodegradable paper bags. Any
large yard waste must not exceed four (4) feet in length. This criterion can change, please
check with your trash service provider.

I disagree....the beasties are capable of knocking them over and doing what they do with trash. Have also watched them sit out for extended periods of time after trash collection. Have also watched the wind blow them down the street....I was amazed to see this the first time it happened!

Trash out in bags is removed and then there are no cans left around awaiting their return to the garage.

God bless those whose biggest concern is annoyance directed at those premature in taking out the trash. The rest of us should be so lucky

I don't see why a trash bag on the corner of my driveway
looks nasty. Don't be so negative.

You'd probably need shots with all the garbage floating around there.

The trash sitting out there in the sun often stinks terribly. And, when there are rules and deed restrictions about things like putting out trash, it means there are concerns about it based on experience.

Thank you. It was just an observation. I should remember that everything is perfect here and nothing is annoying. It's Nirvana every day with peace and love.

DianeM, I agree with you. However, I could have told you posting anything on here about people not obeying the "rules" would open you up to ridicule.....oh well.

I seem to recall, at our orientation meeting, going over things like clear bags for recycling, garbage out at dusk (or something like that), breaking down cardboard boxes, etc. I even called the garbage service to make sure what/when I was supposed to do. The man I talked to told me it's pretty much impossible to get the people here to do as they have been asked about the trash. People always brag about the pristine appearance of TV, then immediately decide those rules, or suggestions, don't apply to THEM. Some of our neighbors don't even use plastic bags all the time. I have seen garbage and recycling actually tied together instead of in a bag.

One of the garbage pick up guys said often the garbage and recyling are both in white, or other colored bags, including store bags. They cannot make the call as to which is which, even if they can see obviously recylable items....can't know for sure some of it isn't trash, so if not using a clear bag, it just goes in the garbage.

My garbage/trash always goes in a dark bag and recycling goes in a clear bag on seperate sides of the drive-way.......just as we were asked to do....and nothing goes out before dark. I feel better doing it right, but that's just me!
