Is stealing OK if you really need the money? Is assault OK if that guy really pushed your button? Hopefully, you get the drift.

If all motorists (and golf car drivers) simply did their part and obeyed the laws, there would be drastically fewer incidents that result in people getting hurt. Remember...driving is a privilege, not your right.

For those that are in strong support for cracking down on speeding, just what are you personally willing to be ticketed for?

- Driving 65 in a 35? I imagine we all could agree on that

- Driving 40 up the south section of Morse between 44 and 466?

- Driving 23 in a circle?

- Driving 32 on Pinellas? Would you truly accept that you were being unsafe at two miles over the limit?

Anecdote: The local authorities in another state lowered the speed limits in a community from 30 to 25. They didn't do this because 27 had become an unsafe speed, they did this so the ticket at 32 was now seven mph over the limit rather than 2 mph over and had a better chance of holding up in traffic court. Are our roads marked at the maximum safe speed or was the speed chosen for some other reason?

I personally support reasonable speed limits and reasonable traffic enforcement. The problem, of course, is everyone has a different idea of what "reasonable" is.

If it were feasible (and yes, I know it isn't), I would favor a rating system that set a "speed limit" based on the driver's ability.

We lost our son due to impaired driver last February. He was driving the wrong way on I 70. His two sons and wife will never have his love and knowledge.
How many family members must u lose to stop justifying these remarks u are making.
The laws r there for our safety.
Obeying them is how we as a society keep the chaos from running wild.
I had a state trooper say that as long as u follow the flow of traffic even if u r above the posted limit they will not intercede.
So please I hope u would understand where I’m coming from

Ever watch a NASCAR "restrictor plate" race.....all cars are limited to a very similar speed, they all get clustered together and when something bad happens many cars crash.

Traveling a bit over the speed limit isn't a bad thing, if it serves to stretch out traffic vs. clustering it. It actually allows many to remain sane, driving with cars on surrounding you makes many very nervous and leads to aggressive driving (road rage).

Chasing down the 5-7 mph over drivers is really chasing a revenue stream and not helping public safety. Chasing down those going above that, the reckless, the "street racers", etc. is taking action to make roads safer and i hope is where efforts are focused.

So, anybody know with the goal of this effort is? The casual speeder who arguably is trying to drive safe or the reckless driver putting others in jeopardy?

I really hope the catch a lot of speeders and they should also look for those who got through stop signs. It's about time!

You are SOOOOOOO wrong. The person going well under the limit is a far bigger problem then those that are going 10 over (not 20 or 30+ over, but 10, which is also like a golf cart going 2 over). I'm sure you've witnessed the mayhem that ensues when some bozo is going 55 in the left lane of an interstate, or even 25 on BV or Morse south of 466. Those drivers are not "following the rules", they are road litter and should turn their licenses in, because, as stated before, they might not get into an accident, but will surely cause one
