Ecuadog’s Michelada

Wet rim of 18 ounce glass.
Coat rim with Tajin.
Add 4 ice cubes.
Add a few good dashes of Tabasco.
Add a good squirt of bottled lemon juice.
Add a few good dashes of Worcestershire sauce.
Pour in beer til glass is about 2/3 full.
Fill glass with Clamato (Original, Picante or Limon).

You can find the powdered Mexican seasoning Tajin in the international aisle of Publix. Use whatever beer is on hand. I just scored some New Belgium Voodoo Ranger on a BOGO at Publix. Once in a while, I’ll sneak a scant shot of vodka in there too.

Budweiser makes a Clamato chelada also, very popular in the immigrant and working class neighborhoods of So Cal, easily found in many 7-11's.

FWIW- Michelada is a beer cocktail with a Tajin (Tah-heen) rim and contains many of the ingredients mentioned above by Ecuadog (worcestshire sauce, tabasco etc.). Chelada usually uses just salt and lime.

I actually had an Aunt Roberta. She enjoyed Southern Comfort when she imbibed which was rarely.

My tastes have changed over the years. Back in college we made rum runs to Tillie's liquor store in Palomas, Mexico. Columbus alumni honor 'Tillie,' Dona Irwin Pete's, a bar across the street, while our cars were being loaded, gave us Zombies which were iced tea glasses filled with multiple layers of rum. (Last time I was down there Pete's was gone. I was told the Federales had arrested Pete.) We came back with Bacardi flasks in baskets and gallon cans of Everclear grain alcohol. We mixed the rum with Coca Cola and poured the Everclear into punch. Coors was the beer of choice although I never was much for beer. The Delta Chi Tau fraternity in "Animal House" had nothing on us.

Now I enjoy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons such as Stag's Leap and Bordeaux, especially Chateau Palmer.

Right now hubby and I are drinking Patron tequila to watch Formula 1. (F1 is in Mexico, Patron is too.) He made his into margarita; blue agave, lime with salt rim and crushed ice and is looking around for a straw to sip it. I’m having a small amount straight as this stuff is goood tequila.

Usually I drink Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, reserve. Hubby prefers bourbon. We drink about once a week…maybe.

Thank you for asking. In my personal glass you will see either Absolute and Kahlua with shot of Bailey's Irish Cream; OR Patron Anejo with Triple Sec and little bit of mixer. Either way, both are my favorites for year.

Usually, Captain Morgan and ginger ale (preferably Vernors), but lately Vodka/tonic/lime. Always have beer in the fridge too

Don't drink brown tequila- ever.

Any beer works for me in a Michelada.

I have enjoyed Voodoo Ranger IPA in the past. My recent BOGO score was for Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze IPA. It has a little higher alcohol content and is a little less bitter. I enjoyed it also. My favorite brew is probably Duvel, but don't look to me for beer advice. I am more of a cocktail person.

Fresca, that's so 1970's !!! I have some circa 1985 "New Coke"(a-Cola) I keep in my soda cellar. I mean refrigerator for special celebrations. Opened one for our 50th Anniversary using a special needle to keep the fizz fizzing for weeks after opening.
