my wife and I wear a neckerchief covering our nose/mouth when we are going to be inside/within 6 feet of others (drug store, Publix)
….other than that we're still waiting for a shipment of 10 masks to arrive from Amazon

Amazon, in this case, is the middle-man. They take your money on behalf of the seller. They collect a fee from the sale because it was sold through their company, but they aren't the ones selling the product.

Just like buying a third-party product from walmart.com. If they aren't the actual seller, they're not responsible for refunding you if it's not a good sale. The seller is responsible for it - and only if they offer refunds and returns in their policy.

If the picture and description of the item you were purchasing was a Bowling Ball and you were supposed to get 4 Bowling Balls and you happily opened your envelope and found they shipped you one 8 1/2 X 11 piece of paper do you think that that may change your outlook? Deception at it's best and I will not stand for it.

In the past we have had several items that were previously owned and certainly not packaged properly or without the owners manual or scratched and they were all third party sellers. Amazon stood behind each one of those purchase and refunded the money immediately. They also supplied a prepaid U.P.S. return sheet that I print and put a Barcode inside the box and the Mailing Label on the box and drop it off and before I get home the refund is done.

I have come to find out that this is a common practice with this company. They have hammered plenty of others before me. The picture and description of the item is perfect for N95 masks. Not a piece of paper with two elastic bands on them.

I have made Amazon purchases from third party sellers, but Amazon has always accepted the credit card on my Amazon account for payment. I have not returned any third party purchases, but, if I did not receive what I ordered, I would dispute the credit card charge with my bank (within 60 days). You should not even need to return the item. I cannot find anything on the Amazon website that would alter the Federal credit card protection rules, even for third party seller purchases. Good luck.

I know of several people who are making masks. The Gilded Matilda in Wildwood (you have to call though as they're closed) is selling them. Google for the phone #. Last evening I googled face masks and came up with several sites where they may be purchased. As for the OP who used Amazon...I always check out the seller on sites as well as comments of other purchasers. IF the "addresse/name" seems funky in some way---I'd never order. I did see some that interested me and once I clicked on---delivery was until late May and some in late June. Now why would one try to order those when we need them now?? There are tutorials on Youtube where you can even make some that aren't sewed. Saw a fun one on Facebook just cutting a sock.

On another note...we recently ordered an item from Amazon with tracking. Got the notification that our item had been delivered. It never was and it didn't show up from a neighbor being mis-delivered. So we contacted the seller (3rd party) to tell them we'd not gotten our item. We were refunded our money! NOT sure if it was related or not (maybe was, maybe wasn't) but my CC was compromised around this time. Contacted the CC company and got a new card. So be careful when, even ordering from Amazon. I do a lot of online shopping but this was a first.

EXACTLY! Our orders are charged directly to the Amazon Credit Card attached to our account. I'm not shipping this back, not a chance. I'll get the credit thru the Credit Card Company. In the end I will prevail. Amazon should be ashamed of themselves. They have slipped in resent years. I prefer to use local merchants but under the circumstances and because of the item I ordered they were the best option. And all to do a favor. Go figure.

Exact same thing happened to me. The mask was smashed and when I put the manufacturers numbers in to the Internet, it was nothing more than a contractors dusk mask although advertised on Amazon as a true N95 that protected against viruses and influenza. Amazon not taking phone calls. Will keep, better than nothing, but sure makes buyers be ware.
