I do not take issue with someone pointing out that they had poor service or a less than satisfactory meal in a restaurant. But . . . "worst service ever"? Did someone die?
While others respond in a reasonable manner we are stuck with the thread titled "Glenview Country Club - worst service ever" even if the customer is subsequently satisfied by the restaurant. I think the administrator should change outrageous headlines such as these. JMHO. Allan.

As for having admins changing "outrageous" headlines, you calling it outrageous is simply your opinion (to which you are certainly entitled). My wife simply stated her opinion (to which she is entitled) for the headline, an opinion which she deems accurate. I am not comfortable having admins arbitrarily decide which headlines are "outrageous" and which are heartfelt and accurate. As a public forum, readers have the option to comment whether they feel the headline and the post are outrageous. Let's give the readers of TOTV the ability to make their own opinions without having an admin make the decision for us.

I think that it's worth noting that Glenview has been taken to task for bad service, bad attitude, marginal food several times on this board. A search should come up with at least one other thread started with an equally upset entry.
Yes, every restaurant has its bad days/nights. That does not, however, excuse rude and insensitive replies by "management." SWR ![]()

I think long after we have an emotional reaction to what someone typed, we may pause and think...of just what they said and we will know more about this place we call home. I really love this forum and I always love what you say swrinfla.

I think Glenview is in the top 3 best restaurants in The Villages. We go there quite often and have never had bad food or service.
We love you Bonny, so chin up and keep your opinions coming please. |

Welcome mermaid! I can understand your frustration.
You're entitled to your opinion. We've only eaten at Glenview once and it was a good experience. Give it some time and try it again. There's no way the person you dealt with was the manager. It was one employee covering for another. (when I was a youngster, and worked in a restaurant, we did that all the time) Welcome to TOTV and TV. Even though we're only there 1/2 the year, our hearts are there full-time. Hope to meet you sometime! |

Hey Capt,
I've have a few bad days on the boat, but the good ones make you forget those odd ones. Nice ketch. The same will happen with Glenview. Fair winds. |

When a brand new member registers and their very first post is recommending OR sharing a bad experience regarding a contractor or restaurant right out of the box, could heighten the sensitivity as to if it is someone trying to steal advertising from the site or is perhaps a disgruntled former employee looking to gain personal satisfaction from the poor recommendation. The site administration will typically watch their future post for a pattern in these cases.
However, our protocol is that everyone is presumed to have good intentions until they prove otherwise and are given the benefit of the doubt. There could be a long term member on the site with many post that could participate in some of the before mentioned dubious practices. It is also not our protocol to edit titles unless it is to add more detail so that the information is easier to search for in the future. It is an open social network site and all respectful discussions are welcome and not censored. We appreciate and welcome all feedback from honest good intentioned posters whether new or veteran at Talk of the Villages! ![]() |

I think it is wonderful that you had excellent experiences at Glenview. I am glad your circle of friends have had similar experiences. That does not negate the fact that my wife experienced bad service on her visit. That is a logical fallacy, a hasty generalization akin to "well, I have always had a great experience therefore everyone must have had a great experience." If you do a quick search on the restaurant discussions forum, you will find many other posters have complained about the service at Glenview. I might be new to TV and to TOTV, but I know how to use the search function, you might want to try it--it could enlighten you. To say the blame lies with the reviewer's attitude and approach is mean spirited. Without your witnessing the incident, your claim is based purely on your supposition, not on facts. The facts are as follows: 1. The waitress forgot to put the order in in a timely manner. 2. The food took over 50 minutes to be delivered. 3. The waitress never offered to refill either my wife's drink or my mother-in-law's drink or to see if they needed anything in the 50 minutes they waited for their food. 4. The waitress never apologized for the mistake or the delay. 5. The "alledged" manager also refused to take responsibility and only made excuses, coming off as sarcastic and dismissive. A non-fact (purely my own biased opinion) is that my wife is the nicest, sweetest, most well mannered person I know. She rarely complains about poor service and for her to get up the nerve to say something to the manager means something must have been really wrong. For you to suggest she had a bad attitude or approach is out of line. It is your snide comment that now has my wife reluctant to even participate in TOTV. People wonder why many new posters don't stick around TOTV--this explains part of it.
