I meet Lou Branch, the man killed in the Mack truck collision at a Hanger Flyers Club meeting earlier this year. He was very welcoming and energetic. Ever since that one encounter, I have received interesting tidbits of aviation history and stories from him every week by email. I am very sorry to learn of his passing as I was looking forward to seeing him this winter season.

It saddened me too to read the article about his life. He was a wonderful person with an amazing life. How sad that his beloved daughter was badly injured in that accident.

I hope and pray that we all will know when it is no longer safe to drive.

The only article I read from the other "news source" was that the identities of those involved in the accident only mentioned the drivers of the vehicles and who were injured as listed by the FHP. There were no mention of a fatality. I'm hoping it stays that way.

The headline in the email sent by the other news source:
90-year-old Villager killed in collision with Mack truck
So sad, but it appears to be fact

Last word I had was the Driver and spouse were in ICU in Ocala , Driver had surgery last night . What is source indicating the driver has died?

Couple was involved in golfing and involved in the neighborhood league. We should rally around this couple and do anything we can do to help them during this difficult time.

There were 2 accidents Tuesday. A 90 year old man died when he hit a Mack truck on a county road and a couple was injured in an accident with a van on Odell Circle.

I believe you are correct. Only the 90 year old driver sadly died when hit by the truck. Only injuries were reported in the van/golf cart accident on ODell.

The other news source has the 79 year old driver, Donald Timothy Browne of the golf cart dying, this is the accident on Odell circle. It appears he was making an illegal U-turn in front of the van. His wife is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Both the golf cart driver and his wife were wearing seat belts. He has sadly passed and his wife is seriously injured. The online news stated that the accident was caused by the golf cart driver making an improper turn.

I don't think that additional speed limit signs would have helped and obviously this demonstrates that seat belts are not the be all and end all.

My advice is that when driving your golf cart you want to avoid turning into the path of an oncoming car. This poor gentleman mike the unfortunate fellow who died on Morse last year seem to have made the same mistake. No signs or lanes would have prevented either of these tragedies.

It is my understanding that in both cases, the drivers of the vehicles that struck the golf carts had no chance. The golf cart driver in both cases simply made a horrendous error which turned out to be fatal.

The families, survivor and driver of the other vehicle are in my prayers.

Condolences to the family of the deceased.

From the pictures I did not see any external side view mirrors. Get them as well as seat & shoulder belts.

This accident, again proves that when a golf cart ties with a car--the golf cart always loses.
