I think she was referring to the 11,000 homes that have always been planned for the land south of 466a. They have owned that land for a long time.

I am so sorry for the distress that this potential dilemma has stirred among those who have posted here - but it sure makes me happy that we bought on the original villages site! I think that if I ever became more than a snowbird I would just buy more square footage there!

Living in Buttonwood and attending St Vincents we always marvel that there is not a straighter route. I can see problems for those that live there as mentioned above. The only way I would be for it is if it was truly a residents only gated entrance with someone at the house all the time, Have you noticed that at many residence gates that are not staffed the gate goes up automatically, pass or no pass, if one sits there for a short time. At least the ones going west do.

Is TV any more "residents only" than a wooden duck on Lake Miona can quack?

The streets are all public, maintained by the County. You can't keep the public from using public streets.

I don't understand the concern about additional traffic. We're talking St. Charles, Tamarind, and Carriage. St. Charles and Tamarind are already major roads designed to get us to and from our neighborhood. We don't know about Carriage yet but I think it's safe to assume it will be a similar road if there is a gate at one end.

Think about it. If someone wants to take Buena Vista to, let say, the library on 466A they would still use streets like St. Charles or Tamarind to get to Buena Vista. Instead of turning left onto St. Charles they would turn right.

And, as mentioned, homes along these streets already see a steady flow of in and out traffic. For every car taking the shortcut route there's one less car going toward Buena Vista. Same number of cars but more evenly distributed.

There's no other way for any of us to get to and from our homes without taking one or more of the major roads like St. Charles. We're not talking about cutting through any one's neighborhood. We're talking about using the same thoroughfares we use now.

Also, adding an unmanned electric gate would provide the same security as most Villages' main entrances.

If the road is a public entrance it will be used by anyone living southwest of the villages who wants to go to work, contractors going to jobs, etc., etc., anywhere in TV, not just in your neighborhoods. It will be a major cut-through for pick-up trucks, moving trucks, teenagers going to the squares, and other people in a hurry. Homes that back on to the road will hear traffic noise 24 hours a day. If you don't believe me ask anyone who lives in Ashland, Lynnhaven, Bridgeport at Miona Shores or Bridgeport at Lake Miona backing up onto Rainey Trail.

You make it sound like people from all over the state will be descending on us. Maybe when the word gets out people will start exiting the Florida Turnpike and use it to get to I95 faster! Let's keep this in perspective. The only people interested in using this route will be the residents in that area and the people who service them. Don't forget, we're taking about after the construction is complete.

If what you say is true, and I'm not convinced it is, an electric gate that will only work with a TV card would solve the problem. Even better yet, TV could issue a special card for only residents who live in the SW corner of TV.

Lynnhaven is a speedway and a commuting artery for workers going to 466 from rainey trail, villages students and anyone else that desires to "cut through". I tested this by driving to the gate with my hand out holding a paper card (the size of the gate pass) and presto the gate opened courtesy of the installed camera. Try it for yourself, if this fails just press the button and you will have the same result. Don't wish for something that will cause entry for excess traffic as well as potential law breakers. Just my opinion.........

Since the roads are public the gates cannot be restricted. Anyone can come through by pressing a button (and having photo taken). Good luck if you push for keeping the road open. Rainey Trail was supposed to be closed but was left open with the assurance to homebuyers that traffic would be light. It's a remote country road (472) turning off of 301 -- directly comparable to what you will have at 462 (which is being expanded). If you don't believe me about the traffic come and sit by the road for a few minutes (day or night).

Obviously plans can change over time, but it's a very good possibility that the "short cut" is temporary and is simply being used to keep construction traffic off of St. Charles Place.
