He is continuously drunk driving his golf cart to the courses and also in his car.
The other neighbors seem to think this is ok and he can live his life the way he wants, they say it is the villages get use to it.
Well some day he is going to hurt someones grand kids or another adult.
He is also very rude on top of it, not a nice person!
On another thread there are many who say "live and let live" I wonder if they would apply that in this case?

If he is intoxicated and driving on a cart trail in a public road , he is subject to arrest. "Rat" him out. He will eventually maim or kill himself or others. Your actions may save his and the life of ohers.

Occasionally you will hear a pop top. Golf is hard enough sober. Driving with an open container means you have a serious problem with alcohol.
This is obviously have hit a sensitive subject for some.
I have witnessed enough to know it is a problem and the amount i have seen him consume in the garage could intoxicate three men in an hour.

Just a observation, not flaming anyone.
Doesn't help their game, but after enough beer, they no longer care.

Why would you do that? Him having prior convictions does not preclude him from driving a golf cart.
Don't make a fool out of yourself trying to be Magnum PI. It will only make the police take you less seriously.
And for God's sake, don't video him and call the police.
If it's bothering you that much, call the police and let them know it's going on. They may make the beat officer aware of it, but they're not going to stake out his house waiting for him to appear.

Where are you when you say you continuously see him driving drunk in his car & cart. You say he has almost caused an accident a number of times. You see beer cans in his trash bags. You want to know how to prove his blood alcohol level.
I'm not getting this post. Are you following him, looking through his trash ?
I'm so busy here in the Villages that I couldn't imagine having the time to see all of this.

Bingo. I can't imagine sitting in my yard watching my neighbor drink in his garage long enough for him to drink enough to intoxicate 3 men.
I have a couple of friends with Sumter county and it's sad some of the stories they tell me of people trying to play James Bond because they have nothing better to do. It does provide entertainment for the deputies, but I wish people would get out and enjoy their lives here instead of spending so much time snooping on their neighbors.

Rather than posting on an Internet blog, call the Sheriffs Department and tell them what you have posted on here. They are the professionals and know what to do.
Worried about being a "scapegoat"? I would rather be a scapegoat than having him kill someone, knowing I could have done something to prevent that happening.

Ok i have said enough.
I have been in his garage work on a project with him helping him repair something
and live in direct proximate to view this on a weekly basis.
consuming a 18 pack in an hour seems excessive to me but i am not a drinker
I guess people have taken this out of context and i am only worring about mine and my family's safety, have a nice day folks, this was not the outcome i was hoping for.
I was just looking for some advice on how to handle this.
Sorry if i offended some of you

I wasn't offended and was only asking for more info. 18 beers in an hour is excessive. I wouldn't be able to stand up, let alone drive. I do put out my recycling and among it all are beer bottles. I never put out too many so the trash guy doesn't herniate himself.

Wow...you guys are brutal. At what number of posts do you become more believable? I only wish someone had the guts to speak to my ex and let him know he was endangering his and everyone else's life when he chose to drive drunk. On the other hand, I can fully understand why they didn't. An alcoholic won't listen to you anyway. Rather than immediately be suspicious of the poster, I choose to commend him on asking advice on how to handle this situation. Unfortunately, I have none, but will keep my eyes open in the neighborhood when out and about.

I don't understand the suggestion that the OP is making this up. It is not a wildly improbable story that a person who lives in the Villages is an alcoholic, and a drunk driver. He asked what this forum suggests he do. Call the police, tell them what you have observed and ask them for their suggestion. Do they want you to alert them the next time you see him out drunk driving? I, personally, thank you for being an alert neighbor and trying to protect me and mine from drunk drivers. On this site people are always praising the conscientious neighbor who notices the possible break in nearby or person casing the area.. we are told to call the police to report our suspicion. How is this any different except in one case it is protecting property and with a drunk it is protecting a life.

18 beers in an hour ? Did you count them ? I don't know if there is enough time in an hour to drink 18 beers.
I'm in view of several of my neighbors. Can't say that I've ever watched them.
I hope they aren't watching me ! LOL

If he is drinking 18 beers in a hour or even two hours you won't have to worry about it too much longer.

I feel confident that going through a mans trash, spying on his activities in his garage and talking negatively about him behind his back on a public web site would not qualify as being helpful.
