When I see this situation, I move across the MMP (look behind me first so I don't walk into a cart approaching from behind), and walk on the right side of the MMP until I am past the blind curve. If I can't see the carts coming at me, I know they can't see me either. ALSO... When I am operating a cart and approaching a sharp right hand curve, and I can't see what is ahead of me on the MMP, I SLOW DOWN!!! There might be a pedestrian, or a runner, or a slow moving bicycle. SLOW DOWN if you can't see what's in the lane ahead of you. Please. |

Imagine how your life would change if you actually hit the pedestrian? Sued. Then financially bankrupt. Maybe even jail time. Right of way doesn't even come into consideration when deliberate reckless actions cause injuries that could have easily been avoided. |

Honestly, if I'm going around a right-hand bend then I'm hanging to my right side, close to the shrubs, in case some bozo is cutting the corner coming towards me. If I meet a pedestrian at just the wrong moment it could be close. It's a roll of the dice: do I anticipate a pedestrian or do I anticipate an oncoming cart in half my lane?

When the boys were little, they would hear a car coming & would say "Car coming, car coming" & dash off to the side. Now that they are twenty somethings they no longer yell out "Car coming" & rush off to the side. They both know how to drive & walk safely. But I'd assume they are aware of their surroundings & if an out of control car/bike/person came their way they'd scramble. Last edited by Dusty_Star; 01-14-2024 at 12:13 PM. |

I've noticed the same in cars in general guys will yield more than women some will run you into a wall (it's MY LANE and NOT move over to the empty lane) BUT if you pass guys even though they are slower it's a drag race - egos I guess

I work in a building where both men and women enter the front doors and the men always say hello or goodbye. The women look straight ahead as if I’m not even there. The men are much nicer and more polite.

I agree. And, when driving, if you let a man into traffic line, you will almost always get a thank you wave. With women, not so much.

I take exception to your statement that "women hold their lane". I'm a woman that routinely drives on the MMP. Not only do I move over for a walker, I also slow down. When passing a bicycle, I slow down and give them the minimum 3' (usually more) wide clearance.

I always give a wide berth and slow down on the MMP so the pedestrians have peace of mind that I see them and are yielding to them. Pedestrians give me a smile and a wave when I do this. |

There’s one on the golf cart path just before going under 501 from McClure to either Linden or to Magnolia plaza.
