The Ocala National Forest ls the second largest nationally protected forest in the U.S. State of Florida. It covers 607 square miles (1,570 km2) of Central Florida.
So, the non-golfers who only drive Golf Cars for transportation and hence can not go to the Ocala National Forest, not a park as such, are left out..

Last cruise we were on, in Dominca non-golfers paid a fee to go around with their golfing spouses. Talked to the golfers I knew, they said same deal all over CONUS.

Did any of you think, "Well, I'm not going to move to The Villages because the Morse family is rich"? Probably not, I would suspect. Get over it, OR MOVE OUT and go back to your life of staring at 4 walls. Myself, I'd much prefer living in a development where the owners are flush with money rather than a development on the verge of bankruptcy.
My prayer is for the Morse family to flourish and continue to give us a way of life that is way above the norm.

I have lived in communities here in Florida where the inmates ran the asylum and shutter to think it could happen here.

God bless the Morse family.

There is no limit to how much one can earn, but there are limits on how many homes an area can support and still maintain the high standards we expect of the Villages. Don't forget, many houses will be up for sale as their owners move to assisted living. These owners will want to sell their houses at a profit.

The Morses are still WORKING.

I for one want to keep them here and involved or we will soon have more of the inmates running the asylum. What makes ME want to bite is all the nickel and dime spending on "improvements" by the CDD elected folks north of 466 and folks wanting to add government restrictions to golf carts and change this and that. Build a covered pool, Etc. Etcl. Etc. Sooner or later the goose that laid the golden egg is gonna be deader than a duck due to folks who know NOTHING about running a city this size..........running a city this size.

And soon someone will weigh in about Freedom and Progress. I say you knew this was a planned development and not a voting city when you moved here.

There. I feel better.
Right on Gracie!
You mentioned "covered pools"...I can't believe the nonsense about covered pools and spending money on it.

I don't know anyone that plays polo or watches polo. I meet strangers everyday and I don't recall anyone ever talking about polo. So I don't care if they stop playing polo on that field. It would be a shame to loose the field and the bleachers.

Can you think of creative uses for the field and bleachers? Concerts? Circus? State Championship football games?

The Christmas parade has been held there for the past few years.

Apparently you, Vladimir, are not one of the many Villagers that deal with skin cancer....which is not "nonsense" to them...but it is something that must keep them in the shade - for their health.

To your first point, there is a limit on how man homes "an area" can support. But area of The Villages keeps growing. Additional homes in the Polo area will be fine as long as additional retail, pools and rec centers are built in order to accommodate the additional residents.

Your second point is correct but you fail to mention that other people will be turning age 55, retiring and looking for places to live.

The only limit on how many homes can be built here is how many people want to live here.

Thank you.
There were 76 million people born between the years 1946 and 1964, the traditional window for the baby boom generation. That means that they will retire over a 19-year period. Simple math shows that 76 divided by 19 is 4 million, or almost 11,000 people a day.

While a certain percentage will die before they reach retirement age, analysts say that immigrants will actually boost the number of potential baby-boomer retirees to nearly 80 million —and not everyone retires exactly at 65 or 66. Some baby boomers likely retired at 62. So let’s say it’s 80 million over 20 years—which still yields 4 million a year.
And with no state income tax here, plus far lower costs of homeowner, hurricane and flood insurance as compared to other parts of FL, people are still going to flock to FL from the frozen, high property tax states such as VT, NH, WI, MI, CT, NJ, MA, IL, etc., and to TV in particular.

I attended The Villages 11 A. M. Welcome Wednesday today and was impressed by who was there and the format of the meeting.

Almost all department heads were there as well as other additional staff and Ms. Tutt. Many District supervisors were in attendance to represent their district plus people who volunteer to serve on other Villages committees. So, there were about 30 of them and two interested residents in attendance.

As the staff brought everyone up to speed on current and new Village developments, time was allotted for question on those matters. At the end of the formal presentations, questions were again solicited from anyone in attendance on any topic.

As the polo fields may be moved, I ask that they think about building an airport there as it would be centrally located and I love to fly. In my small town of 11,000 back in Ohio, we have an airport.

Seriously, I you do have questions to ask, this is a good time and place to start discovering the answers. The more I learn about the CDD form of local government the better I like it. If you don’t, then live with it because it’s not going to go away.

At a Rotary meeting this evening, a representative from Southwest Water Management presented projections for population growth in Sumter County through 2035 that was less than I would have expected.

after baby boomers, the next generation will not have the resources to retire. For the most part, pensions are gone for most companies. Social security is threatened. They are not saving as much....soooooooo

Who is going to buy your home in the future in TV??????
