The recreation facilities will never be controlled by the residents. They will eventually be turned over to the central CDD which are controlled by the developer.

We have gate cards to open the gates here. I think we could have such cards to open recreation facility bathroom/dressing room doors, too.

That card reader is just above the button to open the gate.........by anybody.
I have not heard of any abductions, rapes and murders at the pools. Who you trying to scare?

Ok, there has been a lot of discussion on this topic; was it ever defined what the filth was? vinricci, would you care to elaborate? Mud slapped on the bank or floaties left are one thing, but if it is just a sink left a little dirty - come on now.

Just today as I was running errands, I wished there were some convenience stores in TV south of 466. I have seen the circle K's up there, but south of 466 there is NOTHING!!
I was "jonesing" for a Diet Mt Dew, not a restroom.

But if you look at the number of Service providers here, lawn care, electricians, window tint, painting, etc, etc, etc. These guys do have NOWHERE to find a restroom between Brownwood and Lake Sumter Landing. When at the neighborhood pools we have seen guys come in and get water from the fountain and use the restroom. They have always been polite and in and out quickly and quietly.

I certainly do not object to that. We call for repairs and they are always prompt and polite. Why on earth deny them the use of the neighborhood pool restrooms?? I see that as very insensitive!

Oh, and the comment about showering before using the pool. Growing up in Fl. we always used the shower AFTER swimming to get the chlorine off, not BEFORE swimming. That seems to be a practice of our neighbors to the north and seasonal residents. The same with the showers at the beach. Shower AFTER, to get the sand and salt off. No real reason to shower before in either case.

The point is that key card entry can be done affordably. A bypass button to enter without the card is a different matter and doesn't have to be with a card reader.

As for your accusations of "trying to scare" people, are the Sheriff Departments and FL Dept. Of Law Enforcement just whipping up hysteria by publishing the online sex offender registries for us to use?!??!??

That's it. You got it Bay Kid.

There are no classes in The Villages. No one group is better than any other group. What would we do without the contractors, builders and lawn care people? And old white women who are know it alls???? That would be me.

Good Morning EVERYONE. It's another wonderful day in THE VILLAGES!!!!

Didn't see anything about any abductions, rapes and murders at the sports pools.

Just because one has/must use a 'key card' does not insure they are of good character.

The real point, is that the developer is in charge and has chosen to allow workers to use the facilities. It is unfortunate if that troubles your sense of security.

To my knowledge there have been no attacks in restrooms here in the long history of our community. If there were, I am certain the news would spread like wildfire. I would invite any real knowledge of dangerous restroom episodes occurring here. I think we all would.

There are people of questionable intent in this world. They can live anywhere and look common, weird or wonderful.

Allowing a guy who works hard for a living, under company supervision, to use a public bathroom when needed is how it is done here.

It's comforting to know that with all the globe-girdling events going on
(economics/finance, ISIS, ebola, 66% of American's not having faith in their gov't, global warming/cooling, domestic vs international terrorists, the welfare vs warfare State, et al.) we (in The Villages) still have time to devote EIGHT pages of our attention to the truly (sic) important matters of our 'Time. Amazing.

A key card, for one thing, registers an identity of who's entering. The gate cards register in who's coming thru.

If somebody is entering the restrooms/shower facilities for purposes of harming someone, are they going to log themselves in with their ID card? I don't think so.

While we're on that subject, why do we have resident ID cards to enter the rec centers and to use the golf courses, if it's okay for anybody on the street to stop in and use them?

I still think some "rest stop" areas with PUBLIC bathrooms should be built along the main highways like 466 and 466-A etc. They could be set up like the interstate rest stops, where there is area information and refreshments to buy in addition to restrooms. TV could provide sales/visitor information and point people to the sales centers for a tour etc.

And regarding this: "Allowing a guy who works hard for a living, under company supervision, to use a public bathroom when needed is how it is done here"……..

Who says all workers here are "under company supervision"? There are oodles of lawn workers who work on their own, without "company supervision". That's why there's another thread going right now about the LIABILITIES a homeowner can incur by having uninsured workers getting injured on your property, or if they steal or wreck something!
