Same thing happened to us. They came and buried it the same week. No problem, no complaints.

I also contracted with Quantum fiber under their Price for Life program. About two weeks ago, I received the price increase email. On my part, I hadn’t changed anything: same modem, my own router, same speed.
I called and calmly suggested that there must be some mistake. They responded that because I was a customer for 2+ years, effective with my next invoice in August, when the increase was to take effect, I would receive a loyalty discount restoring my original price. I thanked the telephone representative, and asked what would happen at the end of the year, would I receive a further loyalty discount? I also asked if in the way she entered information into the system that she was changing the plan and that I would no longer be receiving the Price for Life program as originally defined. She could not answer either question. I asked if I would receive an email confirming this applied discount and she said I would. I have not received an email. We’ll see what shows up on the August invoice. Note that this pricing program has drawn the ire of customers nationally and a class action suit (which as customers we will all be members of) has been filed against Quantum. CenturyLink sued for allegedly breaking internet ‘Price for Life’ guarantee - oregonlive.com Lumen has had its own issues over the Quantum acquisition and other things. Lumen slapped with lawsuit over Quantum Fiber plan The Lumen stock price has been dipping. It sounds like this program may have a similar impact to Red Lobster's endless crab promotion. |

I have had a terrible experience with Quantum. Their "customer service" department makes Xfinity's look good. I switched to them (from Centurylink) and was promised a $45.00 for life price and a $100.00 gift card for making the switch. They refuse to honor either offer. The internet service from Centurylink was actually better and more reliable than Quantum's "faster" service.
I definitely would not recommend them. |

I had a friend in the Villages that lost his internet for a week or so while they were doing some local construction so I set his phone up as a hotspot and he was able to stream two TVs easily with no buffering, while he waited for his internet to resume. I don't know how much weather effects 5G service, but I am kind of curious as to how 5G might work as a long term alternative.

I had to switch from CenturyLink to quantum in April of this year and signed up for the $50 a month service. Last bill was for $70. Naturally I was ****ed and tried to call them. I was on hold with the stupid hold music for an hour, so I stayed on hold while trying the chat feature. I was number 100 in line on the chat. One hour later it was my turn, phone was still on the obnoxious hold music. The chat said that they raised it to help pay for their infrastructure but they would give me a 20 dollar discount monthly discount since I was a long time customer. After 2 hours of the obnoxious music I finally hung up.

Sorry for being a bit off topic, but what router are you using? I had Quantum Fiber installed a few weeks back and have been using their two supplied Wifi 360 pods and my 940 Mbps service drops to about 100 Mbps at some spots in the home. Quantum tech said it should be higher, promise to come back with another 360 pod, but never showed. Anyway, never like using provider equipment (which is excluded from "lifetime" price costs) and would consider buying my own if it improved speeds. Thx for any info!

It is not unusual for a technician to do a temporary aboveground installation to get you service. But, then another employee returns to bury the cable. Other companies do the same thing.

If this happened recently it's because Quantum is migrating to wifi7 pods and whatever they have done has messed things up. I have many friends who have the wifi6 pods and always get great speed and never a drop out of any devices. But the new wifi7 pods are buggy. I was able to install them in one of my friends home with one pod which pretty much covered the whole house but I understand they have wifi7 extender pods if you need more coverage. I think Quantum offering Wifi7 pods is a great thing once they get all the bugs out but of course if you want the best, get your own system like an Orbi or equivalent mesh wifi. I have an Orbi Wifi7 network with my Quantum 1GBS service and never had any issues, ever. Just plug it into the Quantum ONT and you are good to go. Now purests will say you are double NATing because the Quantum ONT has a built-in router but you can't notice any delays so not an issue.

My experience with Quantum is brief, but it has been excellent.
In July I switched from Xfinity to Quantum - never had CenturyLink here. They used existing fiber that had been buried when my house was built in 2011. Tech installed newest modem and WiFi 7 router (pod). All my devices connected to the router without a problem, including one 2.4 GHz device. My speeds have consistently been as expected - 500 Mbps near the router. Because of the wiring in my house, the wired (primary) pod had to be installed in a room at one end of my house. After about a week of using/testing all my devices, I found that devices in the opposite end were not getting a strong 5 GHz signal. The pod would automatically change them to the 2.4 GHz band in order to maintain the strength of the connection. I called Quantum and had a wireless (secondary) pod shipped to me. After using the app and installing it midway between the wired pod and the furthest device, all my devices stay connected with 5 GHz. Regarding billing -- the app shows that I will be billed $55. The website shows $50. Because I am using an automatic debit to my checking account, I am billed $50/month. |

I have had both Xfinity and Quantum. Both work well for internet - having said that, fiber will always be consistently faster and more reliable than coax. For those of you on Quantum - take a look in the change your plan section. They have been running a deal on 1GB service for $35/month price for life. They were about to raise my rate for 1GB to $75/month when I saw this - now I'm paying $35. They no longer offer the 200MB plan, but do have the 500MB for $50, but the $35 for 1GB is ridiculous!
