Didn't I read that one of the reasons for the gate is there are apartments or homes being built on that side that are using access via golf cart to your area as a selling point. Are all the entrances to stone crest open to all? I thought it was a gated community? I am not there so trying to understand through your posts.

Actually, I think a fee for a gate pass for non-residents would be a more than fair solution. If we're honest about it, they really don't add enough golf cart traffic to really make a difference. I don't think full amenity fee would be fair -- they don't have access to our clubs, recreation centers, pools, etc. Yes, some cheat and take advantage of those things, but those that would do so whether by car or cart.
Taking a cart to LSL from Stonecrest would be onerous for most -- it's a far distance and done far more easily by car. FYI -- One main reason I'm for "outsiders" using golf carts here is that our parking is so limited as it is and two carts in one spot is a lot better than one car in the same spot.

Unfortunately, Stonecrest is in Marion County and that transportation system was not posted (if it exists - I have no idea).
Also, no argument that anyone can drive their golf cart in the marked lanes on the public roads (like Morse) or the unmarked public roads benind the gates of most villages. As Villagers, we pay for the privilege of driving our golf carts on the "multinodal paths" our money built and maintains which are not part of the public road system, as is the golf cart bridge and most of the tunnels. Want to drive on those paths - move to The Villages and pay your part. |

It looks like they are cooking the books. Only 26% of the surveys were returned, but they are presenting the statistics as if they apply to 100% of the residents.

Is Stonecrest accessible to golf carts from The Villages? Just curious.

Wish we could get an actual count of the number of carts that would be added to the paths if allowed or maybe set up something that carts would be able to go no further than Brownwood for Fruitland Park/Wildwood residents and no further than Spanish Springs for residents off of 441. I do understand the Developer's reasons. I don't understand TV residents' reasoning and, quite honestly, I hope I never do.

![]() Well well well ....Stonecrest residents protest too much, methinks The medical angle being used in Stonecrest's POA letter is a red herring. Stop and ask yourself if someone was not able to drive a car to a medial appointment do you really believe they would be in good enough health to drive a cart? and if it is true then make it street legal Clearly the claim that only a few Stonecrest residents were utilizing Village cart paths was pure bravado. Based on the wording of the Stonecrest letter I suspect their entire community or close to it were joy riding on our golf cart paths free. Given the population explosion here it does make an appreciable difference on traffic congestion. Despite some people's claim that Stonecrest residents will not, the people of Stonecrest will continue to come to the Town Square ,restaurants etc in The Villages only now by automobile unless they own a street legal golf cart. If the Developer is responsible for installing the gate then I applaud him and thank him. Now I believe we need to utilize our gate passes for all of the gates for any other entrances were non village golf cart drivers can gain access. |

Fruitland Park asked for it as a consideration for The Villages of Fruitland Park that was a no no. Wildwood wanted access via a new path on 466A that was shot down by Sumter County. I'm sure they try again off of 44A when the new Villas go in on the West side of Brownwood. They don't pay to use the MM paths or build them. There's a stink being made about the traffic on Colony Blvd. Yes the paths are getting crowded and are only going to get worse by our own residents who paid for them and pay to maintain them. If you don't live here drive your car or take a cab if you have to get here. Period. JMO

If the Stonecrest POA is genuinely concerned with medical access for its residents, perhaps it can establish a transportation network within its own community. |

Keep in mind that Spruce Creek South would love direct access to The Villages and what would keep the business south of Rolling Acres Road from petitioning that county for a golf cart bridge to cross Rolling Acres Road. Who doesn't want direct access to what the Morse family has created? I think one has to look at a map and the total picture to see what open access to Villages multimodal paths would entail. |

I researched where was the best place to retire and chose The Villages. I paid for my home and continue to pay a monthly amenities fee to maintain the lifestyle of my community.
I have read many posts where people who have decided to move to other retirement communities want what I PAY FOR. I personally have spoken to some of these people who live in outside communities who brag about their larger homes for less money, etc. There has to be a bottom line....you chose to live there, you get what you paid or are paying for. I live here and get what I paid or am paying for. I went to the Stonecrest website and believe that there is a big misconception on it. Stonecrest Country Club - Armstrong Homes - Active Adult Living Florida They are publicizing (promoting) that their residents can take a golf cart ride to ALL THE AMENITIES IN THE VILLAGES. Medical facilities can be reached by car. Stonecrest and any other communities could make arrangements for thei residents. |
