Yes, I know about the Barcelona attack and wouldn't feel uncomfortable visiting there. I know about the London and Paris attacks and feel the same. September 11th still troubles me and I admit would not feel at ease being in Manhattan at an time. Too many people, too many buildings with no egress other than tunnel or bridge. I can't afford my own helicopter and pad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Want to prevent lone wolf terrorism? Promote a 'sense of belonging'
Promoting a "sense of belonging". Something all of us can do. A lot of this amounts to being a good Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, etc. Quote:

I guess it wouldn't bother me if the protection was installed at the squares. Better now than after the fact. No one knows where the next attack may come. Always be vigilant and report anything that may be suspect. The law enforcement are waiting for those type of calls. On the other hand, the square protectors will not stop a backpack attack, so watchful eyes may help there. Hopefully our gate people have been trained to watch for certain suspect vehicles and people that they would be able to report them prior to any attack. It is so sad that our country has come to this way of life. So much has changed since we were kids.

First, although I don't think this thread is ridiculous, I don't personally feel that the odds of attack merit any of the proposed solutions, at least, not at this particular time (who knows what the future may hold). As far as his second statement regarding paranoia not being normal, by its very definition, his statement is superfluous. But, most importantly, to link paranoia to persons who conceal carry and call them "absolutely nuts" is not even worthy of an intelligent retort to such delusional thinking! He should be so lucky as to never need the courage and foresight of a permit holder when his life may be in peril! Lastly, what some folks view as paranoia, some others view as situational awareness, a skill set which could keep one around longer to enjoy the fruits of one's labor ... just sayin' ![]() |

To me, this thread is simply a transparency into how you voted.

When I was in the Navy and owned my own business--I felt personally responsible and made sure no-one got hurt on my watch and it happened not one cent was ever paid for workers comp and never had to make any injury reports

Well, you are just confirming my thoughts. I don't spend my days thinking that someone is out to harm me. That in and of itself is paranoid thinking. Any civilian that feels the need to conceal carry because of some unspecified threat they think they will encounter is as I said before is nuts. Just plain nuts to carry a weapon. To have such a state of mind is completely foreign to me. That may or may not be an intelligent answer for you, I really don't care. Live or think anyway you want. I disagree with those who think mowing down a group of someone's parents/grandparents is not a high priority target for terrorists/a lone madman. I'm sure the teenagers who were attacked in Manchester UK and all the random innocents would agree. Rather than assuming anything, we inside The Bubble should be prudent in protecting ourselves.

I am in SC as well. Did not specifically come for viewing the Eclipse but an added bonus...😎 Once I acquired the needed glasses to view!
