Thank you for your research ![]() garcia had lied it would be headlines - but tiger little said - golf channel -- nothing --- I really think most of the announcers would marry tiger if they could - that goes for all of the experts that call the game - every shot tiger takes is a very hard shot and then a great result no mater where it lands - everyone else it just a normal shot.. LIAR -------LIAR ---------LIAR just a little insight into tigers personality --- |

I am very disappointed in the head marshal's comment about character. He has no basis for this statement. A proper response would have been that no marshal told Tiger that Sergio had hit and it must have come from someone else in the crowd. But to intimate that Tiger purposely lied is unprofessional, IMO. It will be interesting to see if that marshal has the same job next year. |

Do you think if the situation had been reversed that Tiger would have went at that pin? Can you imagine Jack Nicklaus going at that pin under the same circumstances? I think that you know the answer to both of those questions is NO. Jack, Tiger and thousands of other tour pros would have hit it over the bunker and hoped that it would trickle down to the hole or or gave themselves a chance to make birdie with a long putt. There are very few players that I've seen in my life that would have tried that shot under those conditions. By hitting the ball in the water, Sergio took all the pressure off of Tiger on the 18th hole. Had Sergio made three on 17 and stayed tied for the lead, Tiger's whole mentality on 18 would have been different. And, Sergio would have come to the 18th tee with a chance to win the tournament outright or at least get into a playoff. Like I said before, Mickelson at Wing Foot and Jean Van de Veldt come to mind when thinking about what Sergio did. The absolute epitome of stupidity.

And to the posters who call Tiger a LIAR: Please look up all the PGA players who have been married, cheated on their spouse, got divorced and then remarried a trophy wife. It happens so much that many players have a name for the not so glamerous wives, they call them "First wife". Crude? Yes. Reality? Yes. |

I'm not saying that there was anything wrong with that attitude. The only problem with it is that a few years down the road when you are not considered one of the greatest ever to have played the game and you are desperately trying to create a legacy for yourself, you have no on to blame but yourself. I'm not judging Sergio for his choices, but it seems that now that he's seeing the results of those choices he's not liking it so much. For some reason, he's now come the conclusion that he wants to be considered one of the greatest ever, when that wasn't a concern ten years ago. maybe it had to do with having so much success at such a young age, but he's going to have to live with it for the rest of his life. I'm not saying that Sergio is a bad guy. In fact I like Sergio very much. But, he does have what appears to be a bit of a character flaw in that he seems reluctant, at times, to take responsibility for his own actions. He is often putting the blame for his failures elsewhere. He always has some kind of excuse. He complains a lot and likes to play the victim.

Regardless of the varied impressions it was one of the best games to watch for some time, imo. Bottom line, Sergio is a professional and he should never let external forces take him out of his game. He is not there to "beat" anyone , he is there to play his best and win the game. Concentrate, play your game and do not let yourself get distracted... it is what you train yourself to do. hoping the "golf gods" will give you that 10% chance on a risky shot is not professional. We could well have had a tie and likely would have if Sergio did not "take himself" out of contention. All in my opinion.

i would think if anyone were to ask Elin Nordegren about his character and his history of lying - i need not go further, we all know the rest of the story or have we forgotten. --- just call it like it is a """lie."""
who is the better golfer, probably tiger is --- tiger should be happy he now has another blond waiting at the 18th hole, lets see what happens. I rest my case and yield to the tiger lovers |

If anyone has ever walked a PGA tour event, the number of female groupies was astounding, at least to me. Not that it makes it right but many have fallen victim to that temptation. |

Not sure if that was a dig at me but Fred Couples divorce from his first wife is well documented on-line. I actually think the hatred towards Tiger (mostly from non golf fans) has a little root in racism. I can't quantify that but just feels that way to me. The number of men who cheat on their wives if very high (again just do any research on-line) and PGA players with fame, money etc. are at least as susceptible. Doesn't make it right but it is what it is.

Like Russ, I'm not saying that it's right, but it's out there and it happens. I was at an event a few years ago and Angel Cabrera was driving around in a golf cart with three young girls. I don't know for sure what was going on but the next time I saw him he was with two different girls. Maybe it was all innocent but there is a lot of temptation out there and for Tiger Woods there are it's times as much as any other golfer out there.
