Sure he deserves privacy. So does Nike. I'm sure that they wish this hadn't happened - they have a multi-million multi-year investment in this yahoo, and he threw them under the bus. Jesper Parnavik was quoted as saying that he needs to apologize to Elin, as he and his wife introduced her to TW. Jesper said “We probably thought he was a better guy than he is. I would probably need to apologize to her.”. Ouch!

I don't see many people saying that they care what he does or putting him on a pedestal. Most of us have just pointed out that he indeed is human. I'd say the most basic reaction around my office is "nothing real surprising here". Agree that an affair(s) is between the husband and the wife but when you are a 'celebrity' then it (the TMZ's of the world) goes with the territory like it or not.

It's really not funny. But it was his choice. He didn't HAVE to do it and HE didn't get leprosy or polio. He got laid.

It is definitely not funny to his wife and his sweet little kids are gonna read about it one of these days.

Back in my neighborhood when someone messed up the answer was, If you burn your butt you sit on the blister.

I gotta hand it to him. He owned it. Now what he does with the rest of his life is his to choose.

I would guess that particularly in this community of people who have lived several decades that most of us have made some big mistakes and lots of little ones. It's what we do after that that is the measure of a man....or a woman.

Russ, I don't the problem is TMZ or Entertainment TV. These shows are driven by ratings and it's all the viewers that drive the TMZ's of the world, not the other way around. Maybe no one here cares what he does, but lot's of other people must or he wouldn't still be news.
For me Tiger's plight is only one of the countless details about celebrities reported on that I don't have any interest in.

I see your point Steve. But the mere fact that we, here on TOTV, or in my office talk about it shows that it is different for celebs. One of the things that drives ratings is the fact that even non-celeb shows talk about what TMZ.com is reporting. They claim that they take the high road but just mentioning it means that they are not. I'm guilty as well by continuing this conversation on this medium. I wish him and his family the best but the divorce rate in this country flirts with 50% for a reason.

Wrong or right, I think people expected a little more from Tiger than we do from other athletes for several reasons. Other than John Daly, golf has not had the scandals of drugs, alcohol, etc. that other sports seem to generate. Golf is known as a game of "doing the right thing". It is an honorable game where you call penalties on yourself even if no one is watching. Golfers like Jack Nicholas and Phil Mickelson and Arnold Palmer are popular for their golf but also are known for being good guys and a family men. Tiger falls into the same category. We've watched him since he was two years old swinging a golf club on TV. We've read about how Earl Woods groomed Tiger to be a golfer and instilled good values in him. Earl intimidated that Tiger was capable of much more than just golf, perhaps even political office.

Tiger Woods has always been perceived by the public to be a model athlete and person of good morals, certainly a hero to many young people. How many athletes do we see in other sports that have something akin to The Tiger Woods Foundation? And interestingly, the Tiger Woods Foundation calls itself a "nationwide character development program". As such, Tiger's dalliances with trashy women have struck a nerve with the public. If he was an ordinary guy we would all leave him and his wife alone and hope they could work it out, but his celebrity status will obviously make him a target of public discussion and scrutiny. You can't get paid millions in advertising endorsement dollars to have your name plastered on all sorts of products, and expect the public to ignore you. The money comes with a certain responsibility.
