It all has to do with that little star on your license (if you have Fl license). It means that the state follows some odd U.S. government rule. It started with travel, but many businesses use it also. If you wanted to fly the airline shouldn’t take military retired ID ether. As Lemon said Google it.

The DMV will add veteran on a drivers license if you take their form to the VA and bring in your DD 214 . In most cases you will get TSA approved.

Yeah, my wife faced the same problem when we moved here in 2016.

Her father was in the military when she was born and the military hospital at Warner Robbins AFB gave her a certificate of birth. She had used that to get a driver's license in several states.

When we moved to Florida, she was told she needed to have an official government-issued birth certificate to get a driver's license, so she contacted the government in Macon, Georgia and they sent her a birth certificate.

It was refused.

I was told they no longer take a military ID card as a valid Government issued ID card. A State of Florida driver's license, which I have been getting by mail for decades, was OK, but not a retired military ID card or any other military ID.

I was insulted. I have thought about it for a few days and I am still insulted by their policy. Am I being too sensitive? Or possibly was their answer of it being company policy wrong and there is some security issue behind it all that I have not heard about?
When you make a deposit NO idea is required. Your not cashing a check or note. Cash out and move your accounts to a bank that knows how to train their staff

Also, if you have a green paper retired military ID that has no expiration date, it is time to replace it with the new "Real ID" that has an expiration date.
I recently replaced my retired military ID with the new version and it still says INDEF for the expiration.

Not true. The bank is required to verify who is making the deposit.

A quick Google check found that a number of banks specifically state that they accept military ID. Some obviously do not. They are not supposed to photocopy a military ID but they can and many do accept them to establish the customer's identification. As for being too sensitive, that is your call. Some things upset certain people more than others and who can say your reaction is not justified except you?

I said all that to say this- you have every right to be irritated. Consider contacting your congressman. You may even consider circulating a petition either on paper or online (they have petition websites).

Our veterans should be recognized; and an ID is a basic form of this recognition.
Don't disagree with anything you say. Some may find it "petty" to bother a congress person with such a "small" matter. On the other hand... Might be wise if the people who put individuals into various to positions to represent them, to actually make their desires and opinions KNOWN to those representatives; rather than elect them and then just forget them and anything they do. Having said all that, the "easy" lane might be to just go to one of the many many banks here; there are many exceptionally customer friendly ones (we FINALLY found one, LOL !)

I don't know, but it sounds like you didn't get the "Real ID" that complies with the latest Federal requirement. Here is a link that shows a sample of the ones with an expiration date.

[QUOTE=sallyg;2190379]No idea why ID is needed when making a deposit. Anyone is welcome to deposit to my account without ID. 👍[/QUOTE

Would seem so, then I thought about that for a few minutes and changed my mind....LOL ! Nothing like some ill begotten funds deposited into your account to get you a life long "relationship" with the FBI...LOL ! Right !

Sorry but with all due respect, of all the issues facing our brave Veterans, this one would not be at the top of my list.

I don't think you are being too sensitive. My husband is a veteran and I would feel like you do if a bank did that to him. But our feelings aren't going to change anything, unfortunately. The policy doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it's an easy ID to fake? I don't know. I'm sorry this happened to you. Thank you for your service.
