That's nothing---wait till he gets his hospital bill. (Not making a joke of his tragedy, just pointing out the high cost of medical care)

What is sad is the impact on the family. He made his choice for himself. But also for his family. Let us hope there is some worthy role model to show the the right way.
Very best post.

Being a Southern California girl and life long Laker fan, I find this a tragedy. Lamar had a huge talent for basketball but had a very tragic life. I find it very sad the direction his life took and blame the Kardashian connection for the quick descent. I also find some of the posts here insensitive at best. I will never understand people who find this amusing when you have never walked in his shoes and no nothing about his life. Shame on you.

I agree with your post, except for the blame on the Kardashian clan. He is an adult and made these desisions himself....actually after leaving the family.

I truly hope that no one here has to go through a similar situation in their family. If they did, they would realize how insensitive their comments are.

I try to make people laugh with bad puns, playing with words, exaggerated life experiences or over the top dumbness, like Gracie Allen use to do. As a boy I always felt bad whenever Moe slapped Curly or Abbot picked on Costello. I didn't get it. I still don't. So I will continue to do what I do but I can't purposely make a wise crack at anyone's else's expense. That's not me.
I use to know a Greek Tragedy joke but I can't find it online. It has something to do with an Italian who walks into Homer's Taylor shop and Homer says to the customer "Hey, You Rippa Dees?"

Good night Gracie! And you do it well.

I agree with nitakk's comment about insensitive posts. Odom may be the author of his own misfortune, however now he is in ICU in critical condition. I feel that he and his family deserve our compassion.

I don't know why that we can't say how we feel. I think he brought this on himself. What more is there to it? He could have done a lot of things, a lot of things that wouldn't have led him to this. We do have choices every day. Except for accidents, we all have a lot to say about our destiny.

His family is not reading this. We aren't writing a letter to his family. This is something that some of us have an opinion on and it reflects our values and our history and our life experience. We all could have chosen things that would cause harm to us and bring shame to our families.

Most of us would not wish harm on anyone, but we can sure see what paths lead many to destruction and most of us have chosen not to go down them. We can't help cancer and accidents, and trees falling on us, but we can choose who we hang out with and how we spend our money and most of us have enough sense to come in out of the rain and not to start with dope.

It is WHAT makes our hearts bleed that tells a good bit about us. It is as if he raised a gun and shot himself in the head. He HAD the world by a string and chose to gamble with it..

AND another thing I have learned in the last ten years. Men are far more fragile and sensitive than most women. That is why they often joke about things of enormous seriousness. That is why it is called gallows humor.

Some things are untouchable, but a guy who ends up drugged up in a brothel is fodder for that kind of comic relief. It is such a detour from good sense...

They weren't joking nor would they about the infant and his father killed in the car crash in Orlando this afternoon. The mother doesn't look like she will live. Now that is unspeakable heartbreak.

There is a balance between good taste and bad taste that applies across the board.

Of course you can say how you feel. And so can I.
You feel he brought this on himself, which is true. I feel he has a serious drug addiction. I think that is also true.
We could debate whether an addictive personality can be cured. But let's not.
