I don't think very many of us can say we never did anything stupid or dangerous in our lives. If it resulted in death or permanent injury, not too many of us would still be around, so don't be so quick to say Lamar "deserved" it. Remember, it only takes a second to exercise bad judgment, but it can take a lifetime to pay for it.

When he can his only path to rite the ship is to humble himself and say to someone that he wants help. I, you, his mother in law, wife, everybody and anybody can want him to get into recovery but it must be him that says enough is enough. Something like this as bad as it seems doesn't even add up to a pimple on the butt of a addict. You can't scare a addict....the addiction is way stronger. I think it's one out of every 35 people who try & recover that actually does. Very sad. God help him & those close to him.

Hopefully with all his money and connections he'll have a better chance than most

Some of this is happy horse manure. We didn't tell our children that we would understand if they ended up nearly dead in a whore house because after all some of us are born with addictive personalities. We tried to teach them what we were taught; to stay away from trouble and if you lay down with dogs you are gonna get up with fleas. We were told if we got arrested we weren't going to get bailed out and that if we burnt our butt we would sit on the blister.

I was pretty hard on my kids and my folks were hard on me. There was a lot of addiction going on in my family. Alcohol was badly overused by several, but that didn't keep anyone from pointing out that it wasn't anything to be proud of and that it could ruin your life.

I don't think I lack compassion but I save it for the things that can't be avoided. We weren't religiously against alcohol. I am the granddaughter of European immigrants and wine was served every evening. My father and grandfather were brewmasters. But a lot was expected from us. And we expected a lot from our kids.

Lamar Odom has the funds, the means, and the positive support, yet still fights a losing battle with it. How difficult it must be for so many others. I've seen it in many Soldiers, as well as others. Instead of damning them to hell, please offer prayers and/or encouragement that they may find a way to want to help themselves. Most humans don't want to be miserable or judged as worthless. Just my thoughts.
Very difficult for someone like him with all his money and celebrity to reach the bottom necessary to surrender. In best of cases, only about 30% of those attending AA ever stay sober. Also very difficult for the average person to understand the power of this physical, mental and spiritual disease. Unless you get real help,p and deal with all the aspects, not the phoney expensive celeb rehabs, it will be impossible to arrest the disease that is never cured. Look at what recently happened to Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manzel who still does not realize that it is the first drink that gets you drunk.

What I typed above was in frustration and anger. I think I understand addiction pretty well. But I grow tired of folks labeling some things when I know darn well that folks don't have to end up like this.

I hate, hate, hate what has happened to this country and the world because of drugs. I wish we could send all of our worlds combined military strength into the source of all this and eradicate it. That of course would put innocent people out of work who tend the poppies. People who have babies and homes.

I wish that they would make laws to stop drugs. But they have laws and drugs are illegal. I remember when no one I knew or anyone they knew ever heard of drugs. We just had drunks. The doctor came to the house and gave you little envelopes with pills when you were sick. Good kind saving drugs, antibiotics were just beginning. People didn't have enough of anything to overcome the pain when they were dying of cancer.

I don't like to turn on the television every night and see the people who have been killed probably because of their drug debts. I don't like to see the people who grow up in areas where big success is being a drug dealer.

I want to yell at someone to fix all of this, but as I grow older I have far fewer answers and far more questions.

I guess that I am just lucky it didn't happen to me or mine because addiction is genetic and it sure runs in my family. People with addictive personalities almost always are sensitive and fragile. And I just remembered someone that I do know that grew up in a strict family that died as a result of addiction.

I am sorry I said what I said. I wish I could fix this horrible thing called drugs. I do need to remember to not be so damn stubborn and judgmental. But I am sure I will do it again. We sometimes can't help being who we are. And we can't change it drastically. We are stuck being us.

Business as usual...those who feel he was a waste of good oxygen and those who feel sadness when a leaf falls from a tree....

Death...happens 1000x every day...can't be helped...you can spend your life feeling sad for those who pass and those left behind or you can keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart...I prefer the later....I do not find it humorous when folks die, but if they bring it upon themselves I think they're stupid and deserve what happens...as to those they left behind-shed a tear then move on and hope no one else is that stupid....

Actually about 154,600 people die each day----Maybe that's the ultimate joke about life on Earth. Ever think, why 80 or so years? Why can a tree live thousands and a may fly 1 day? There is obviously something coded into every things DNA that determines this, environmental factors aside.

Golfing Eagles. This is not meant to criticize you but his money and fame will be the most serious obstacles in a path to recovery. There is an interesting article about the Kardisjans reaction and possible role in this mans decline. It really makes you want to puke. See the NY Post. This family represents best the decline in America and yet still has many viewers. It is in unfathomable to me. Yes, I know this is a free Country.

It may very well a big obstacle. But at least it gives him access to first class addiction treatment. Many other addicts aren't in a position to get that care. What he does from there is up to him

Gracie, no apology is necessary. You seem to understand this serious problem better than most. It is interesting to see how the Ksrdashians are trying very successfully so to control the story and their possible role in pushing this man over the edge. We are all a product of our environment and he was part of that low life family for a while, as I understand it. I wonder just what drives good folks to watch such trash.
