Well, epoxy gets a quick finish this am and I am headed back to the thriving metropolis of Kennesaw! One week of packing, throwing and donating and then heading south for good ... Loved meeting all of you that we were able to ... The christening was an event to remember ...

See you all at the SPD celebration!

Lots of fun at Evans Prairie tonight. The highlight was having Bill & Rona and Rich & Ann Marie with us finally. They will wander back to NJ soon, but I can tell they want to return real soon. We'll miss you while you're gone.

Gayle,

I will probably go to the one at Seabreeze, but will definitely take the golf cart. Much easier to get in and out. Woul you like to ride with me a little before 9:00? I don't plan to go to Laurel Manor - only Seabreeze.

Don't know, but I figure both will be super crowded, and I will be worn out just doing one. LOL. BTW, since we have two carts, Carol is also going and we have room for one more, if someone else wants to go.

We will be moving into our house on Thunderbird Way on May 7th. Actually we will arrive in the Villages one week from today on the 17th. We are renting for six weeks then moving in. Can't wait to experience the lifestyle and warmth of the Florida sun and our new neighbors.

Hi to MtnBoy and the wife. We bought in Fernandina #208 on Quail Court, so we are right "next door". We have our Design Mtg on July 3, so our house should be done about a week before yours. We plan to move in shortly afterward. Looks like several lots have sold in Gilchrist so you should have lots of neighbors soon - however, you can come on over to the Bird Neighborhood and join in the fun. Welcome and congratulations! It's very exciting!

Hello Peter and Linda! Welcome to what is turning out to be one of the best areas of TV...the Land Down Under as in south of 466A.

We (my husband Ed and I) are coming for a short weekend visit this weekend...so we'll be out and about Friday and Saturday (March 15 & 16). We are on Amherst...so very close to you!

We will be returning for good in the middle of June but not retiring!

Your pool has to be maintained weekly, Kitty, which is why the lanai remains open! You will get 2 months of pool care as part of your package and may then make your decision as to how you want to handle future maintenance. You can do it yourself(not), hire an outside company or retain the services of T&D. Almost closing time for you:a040:

During our 48-hour touchdown, we checked out your pool! Yes, your lanai is unlocked because of pool maintenance...but it is spectacular! A beautiful design that I know you will enjoy for years to come.

Mike and I had a great time at the party last night. A giant big thanks to Carol and her crew for making it possible. Everything was perfect.

I am requesting a party in our driveway for April 5. We hope that is a good date for the majority. Let me know if not. Do you think that someone could make an invitation like the St Patricks party to go out on email? Please let me know. Thanks Gayle

If you need the link for the FB page its:

Arrived in TV last night. Thanks for the welcome home.

Well, you heard it here first! The Villages missed our closing date. Was to be today but had to be delayed until the 22nd. They have compensated us for the delay so we are go to go. We are still doing the walk through today @ 1300. Staying at Town Plaza Suites in Spanish Springs for now. Looking forward to seeing friends and neighbors during our stay.

Hi Everyone! My wife and I have just purchased a lot in the Village of Gilchrist and have a design meeting on July 9th. We've already got a rental residence lined up and can't wait to become official Villagers. We hope to be there by mid-July if the closing on our home goes as planned. If anyone else is going into Gilchrist please stop by and give us a post...:wave:

We are closing on our house on April 3 on Haislip Ct (off of Resthaven). This is our 4th house in the Villages. Let me know your email and we'll get together. I was planning on getting the email, phone and addresses of our fellow Gilchrist neighbors so we can meet each other and stay in touch

You've got me worried because we close the morning of the 2nd and have contractors lined up to do work that afternoon and for the next 3 days after. If I don't own the house they won't let us in to do the work. Did the Villages miss the closing or did your mortgage company not get stuff to the villages closing department in time to close?

I would not worry. Our first Citizens Loan Officer was promoted. The replacement quit a few weeks later. When the third took over things were a little disconnected and, between Citizens and the closing office, a key deadline was delayed. That caused the two day delay. The closing office allowed us to complete the builder walk through as scheduled, we signed a two day lease agreement and were given the keys and ID cards as scheduled but will not sign the closing documents and write the final check until Friday. We are happy with TV's handling of the whole affair and they did compensate us for the delay. Needless to say things would not have been as positive if we had used an outside mortgage company.

We are worried also because we have many contractors scheduled to show up right after our closing on April 10th, including the entire floor, doggie door, fans, lights, etc...we have been told we qualify by far, but they said they have been busy also...hope we don't have problems also.

We are closing with a small Citizens mortgage on April 10th...like our buddy A-4, we are concerned about problems...we have been told we are qualified easily, but they have put us on the back burner for earlier closings...and they said they are a tad behind...we are afraid they are way too far behind and may not close on time with us also...any advice?

I couldn't close in Dec, Citizens had over 200 closings and had to wait till Jan 2nd, so also missed my homestead exemption for the year.

They dropped the ball on some of my paperwork, had to wait till the next day.

Missed better deals on the movers and had to pay extra time on moving truck.

So far they have not compensated us the extra extra expenses, they told me about the guy quitting also and and the new guy not in place.

No big deal just a few bucks.

Spicy,
We ran into the same thing with Citizens, but difference was we were closing by mail and did not have contractors lined up. I called my sales rep who followed up with the bank and closing department to assure me that all would be okay. Our closing was scheduled for 2/11 (Monday) and we did not receive our UPS package from the closing department until Friday. It was nerve-wracking to say the least, and we weren't even in the same position as you! Only advice I can give is - patience, and a glass of wine (or beverage of choice) might help, too!

Hey, Spicy: Who's doing your doggie door?

Hello! Who's doing your doggie door? We've decided we must do one for our big boy, Cooper (St. Bernard) so I can imagine the size of our door will be slightly more than yours (hahahaha) but I want to hire someone to install it...just wondering who you got.

Thanks.

Lisa

Hi !!! We are installing a Plexidor doggie door, and Mr. Handyman in Leesburg is installing it. We bought it from Gundogsupply.com and they get it sent fast from the manufacturer in Florida. We love the Plexidor as we have one in our current house, and we are using the same one in the Villages. Don't use the regional distributor to buy or install the door because they were rude and expensive and didn't even show up for an estimate. MrHandyman.com is where you contact the installer, and they are also an authorized installer of Plexidor which is how I found out about them. My husband use to have a Saint Bernard, and she was so cute. I checked and Plexidor does make an extra large door, either to install in the wall, or a door or even glass (different models) and they say it is suitable for a St. Bernard. Good luck !!! I'll be closing April 1. Walk thru is 2 pm, so Jimbo, king of solar and so on, if you want to inspect, you are welcome. My brother (mike-who-knows-everything) is coming too so that all bases should be covered. I can't plan a party at the moment due to being a deer in the headlights, but the opportunities are endless. I am open to suggestions from his Honor the Mayor and the Most High Administrators and my first friends Andy and Wendy.
My move date is the 3rd and appliance installation the 4th.

Mr Mayor.... Next time I am taking scathing pictures of your buns:boxing2: I do see, however, there is room for improvement in my form. Not just the golfing part:sad: all in good fun and I had a blast at my first golf outing EVER! We had a good time laughing, enjoying the scenery and trying to hit the ball in a straight line. In actuality, for a beginner, it was a bit of alright:a040: Next round tomorrow, so beware. The very best part was the 19th hole! And yes, Wendy did shoot a par on one hole:bigbow:

Big Aloha and thanks to all who welcomed Cion and I at the EP Gillybration last night. We had a great time and enjoyed meeting new neighbors and chatting with everyone. Spent most of today shopping for furniture but did take an hour or so to sit on our new lanai and watch the storm clouds and rain. We are going to love that lanai. We have a few more apointments before we depart TV tomorrow afternoon and then back to Hawaii to sell the house and retire. We are looking forward to returning to TV and starting our retired life with all our new friends and neighbors.

It was great meeting you Saturday night. Glad you are here if even for a short time. Best of wishes to you in Hawaii on selling house. You will be back in no time. Safe travels.:doggie:

Ain't we a pair? On Tuesday I'm going back to the ortho dr in ocala that did my knee surgery in July. I'll get you his name & number if you want. Hi Guys,
Lets look on the bright side, one has a bad left knee and the other a bad right knee, if you tie your damaged knees together, you can both walk using your good knees.

It will mean you both being tied together for a few weeks, but that is not so bad is it? :grumpy::grumpy:

Jimbo,

So sorry to hear about your knee. Now that we are all in the "over 55" category, don't you think it's time to quit the super-hero gig and let the younger bucks do the digging, planting, remodeling, etc? Take it easy. Sit back, relax, hire people to do some of the work. You and His Honor are hereby excused from the heavy lifting for a couple of weeks.

Let us know if we can help.

I think we should do what Junction recommended and tie their bad legs together. Then we could enter them in The Villages Seniors Sack Race up at the polo grounds. Our luck it's the same bad leg on both of them and they'll just go in circles.

I wasn't doing that much heavy work, I was out there mostly delegating directions to 2-3 men all week.

I think what got me was kneeling in the ditches re routing 5 of the main pvc irrigation runs around the location of the new spa/pool.

Walking on very uneven terrain perhaps.

Anyway the ice packs really did help feels 90% better this morning, didn't need pain killers, still want a Doc to look at it. :shrug:

Need to be ready to complete the work, pool delivery next week.

Dear Hotrodgirl and all my new Gilly friends and neighbors -
It's been an amazing day today. Walkthrough with the builder went off without a hitch at 9:00. The house is OUTSTANDING. Left for Brownwood and closing at 10:30 which took about 30 minutes. With new keys in hand it was back to check the new mailbox and when we arrived back at the house it was surrounded in CRIME SCENE tape, markers for all of the spent bullet casings, and chalk markings outlining where the bodies were. THANK YOU SO MUCH to my new neighbors and friends for arriving to console me and my family. YOU'RE THE BEST.

We were glad that the Community Watch dude didn't have our contractor who was waiting for us to arrive from closing in handcuffs and chains. That would have taken some fast talking. Scotland Yard, or some guy with a STRONG British accent, was there taking photo's of the crime scene. He had the chief of police from some beach community in New Jersey there assisting. Things really came apart when the West Virginia State Police showed up on crutches, looking for the culprits who hurt him in the melee. OFFICER DOWN. What a day :confused:

Congratulations A4 and Cathy,
I thought the bodies were buried on our lot after that unique christening a few weeks ago. Glad to know they were really around the bend on Regency Ave. Enjoy the new house.

For many on this thread, "New Villagers in Gilchrist", you may have been frustrated that the messages are displayed "Oldest First". That means you have to go to the last page of messages to find the most current message. That's "Bass Ackwards" !" I've found the cure.

First log in to TOVO with your password and click on "Quick Links" at the top of the page.

Scroll down to "Edit Options" and click.

Next, scroll down the page until you see, in orange, the words" Thread Display Options". You're almost done.

Scroll a little further in that block until you see the words, "Thread Display Mode" and click on it.

Dear Gillylanders,

As you will have seen from A4's post earlier, a drama hit the neighbourhood today.

After shots were heard around 11:30 in the vicinity of A4's new home, His Worship the Mayor dispached his Head of Administration and his Administration Assistant to determine whether there was a neighbourhood crisis or if it was just some drunken fool letting off steam.

On arrival at A4's home, two bodies were discovered laid on the drive;
which were duly marked, using real proper crime scene chalk supplied by the our own local Chief of Police (Ret).
11922

A number of empty shell cases were discovered, 22's and 38's, suggesting that there were two PERPS (which caused a panic with the His Worship the Mayors PERCS team, who thought they were under suspicion until the difference was explained to them).

The shells were duly identified and and marked at the scene;
11923

and the crime scene, taped off;
11924

Just before the police were called, one of the 'bodies' gave a groan and rolled over, followed by the other one, both of which turned out to be drunken oafs (as suspected by His Worship the Mayor), who then proceeded to rise and stagger down the street, shouting about how excited they were that A4 was finally coming to the neighbourhood.

Just before the 'Crime Scene' was cleared, A4, his lovely wife and Mum arrived back from the 'Closing' to a chaotic scene, where workmen were milling about, refusing to cross the crime scene line, the Neighbourhood Watch was ringing the Police and the Head of Administration (HoA) and his Administration Assistant were trying their best not to keel over laughing.

Calm was finally restored and the HoA proceeded to ask the usual questions from His Worship the Mayor for anyone entering our neighbourhood, which were;

1. Do you Mrs A4, promise to keep A4 under control and not let him be drunk and disorderly around the neighbourhood more than 2 or 3 times a week? - to which she answered - "I DO"

2. Do you A4, promise not to land any A4-Skyhawks in the street -To which he answered - "ONLY ON BRINKELY"

With the final question to MUM, which was;

3. Do you MUM, promise to keep these to Party Animals in check, so they don't become a nuisance - to which she answered - "I DO"

These being the correct answers they were offically welcomed to the neighbourhood - phew!

Hey Everyone! Just got back from the ortho doc a few hours ago and I'm scheduled for an MRI on Friday to confirm a probably diagnosis of another torn medial meniscus. :swear:

If the results of the exam confirm the diagnosis then arthroscopic surgery will be scheduled. On the bright side, the total recovery time is only about 2 months. But, that will mean that golf and pickleball are on hold for the foreseeable future...:cryin2:

Unfortunately, it will also mean that Chief Rose will lose his official chauffeur to community events. He's taken this news in stride and has even offered the use of his sunny lanai during the morning hours with promises to make me nice, strong drinks as the need arises. What a pal!!! :eclipsee_gold_cup:

Thanks for all of the good wishes and prayers....keep 'em coming!!!

You guys are the best of the best.

The job is a lot to learn--maybe I'm just getting too old :confused: but the people are all very nice and the drive through Inverness is beautiful in the morning--it kind of reminds me of where I grew up. I'm still stressed as the house is full of boxes--Jim's gone and I've still got a million things to take care of. He told me to just take it one day at a time--I only work 4 days/week so I'll just plan everything for my days off so I can have fun on the weekend!! :wine: So very sorry about your knee---they may just have a extra bed at one of my facilities that I can put you right into if you don't behave yourself :shrug:

Sorry about the knee, Rusty. My knees were scoped three times before both were replaced with metal and plastic. I found that a good therapy program augmented by excellent single malt beverages made for speedy recovery.
