What a nice night we just had! Janice and I were on the lanai after a trip to the store where we ran into the Cruisers! As I was taking Gracie out for a walk who would pull up on Kilgore other than Shawn & Freddie. We finally got the skinny on the house but I'm not going to spill the beans and make them finally quit being stalkers. They can explain for themselves...:1rotfl:
We had a nice chat and then they joined us for dinner and some more good conversation! :MOJE_whot:
They were able to buoy my sagging spirits after a miserable game of golf today at Redfish Run with Pat, Dennis & Carol. I'm ashamed to tell my score but suffice it to say that at the end of the day I had three good shots out of the whole round. Just depressing. I have the feeling that lessons may be in my future... I don't like RFR anymore and it certainly doesn't like me..:duck:
Tomorrow I finally get to play something more my style (Turtle Mound) with Mike, Gayle & Carol. Maybe I can put together something that resembles a decent game. :1rotfl:
Carol leaves next week :sing: but the Flintstones should be coming back fairly soon and we had some good news from MamaDerby and the Old Bishop so spirits are bound to rise.
Things still just aren't the same without the Junction29's so we all wish they would hurry up and come back home!!!

We have purged 38 years of "stuff" with five days of garage sales. Salvation Army gets the rest. Dave is working on his six-car garage. We sold our corvette yesterday. We are feeling confident that we will be done by closing. What a lot of work! When all is said and done, I think it will be a good feeling to know we have only what we need in TV. Can't wait to head back and play some golf or I should say, rake some sand! I rake sand traps more than TV workers! We sure miss our Gilly friends!

:ho: to the mayor for starting this amazing thread!
Hi to everyone in Gillyville! I've been here 6 weeks and as someone put it, "still have my head in a box." Soon, I'm having a small practice party with a few old and newly met singles, and after that, I'll host a bration at my house!
Kitty
Ditto on the Mayor for this thread also--have been busy w/that thing called work that don't get a chance to read much of these threads as much as I'd like to. I've been here since the end of March and still have some boxes to unpack so congrats to you for being so organized. Our newest project is the extended bird cage in the back--more dust--fun.:a040: :a040: but added so much more room and now I get to shop for furniture.:MOJE_whot:

Need to stop by and see you guys--work has been keeping me hopping and trying to get organized so I can go up North for a few days this upcoming weekend--but I will return back quickly:MOJE_whot: Jim's actually helping MamaDerby and Old Bishop pack up the truck for the move--he should just pack himself up with all their stuff and get his butt down here :a040: Stop over to see our extended birdcage--everyone will have to bring their own chairs to sit as don't have any furniture to fill it up with as of yet :ohdear:

Speaking of people leaving for a while, we need to say so long to Carol and any others going back north. I dont know about you, but I know Carol has been a rock here in our neighborhood. She is always helping with something. And she is such fun!
How about we call a meeting at Evans Prairie for Wednesday at 7:00p. Be there are be square.

Oh no:ohdear: such sad days ahead:cry: it's nearly time to hit the proverbial road, but the sooner home, the sooner the return trip! Not to mention that so many will have also returned and new neighbors moved in:) See you all on Wednesday evening for lots of hugs and to meet the new contingent! Perhaps a fly-in will be in order mid way through...
The old neighborhood just isn't the same without those Brits however! When I walk Rosie and Sweetie that way for our afternoon stroll, they still try to get up to the front door for their daily "tea" with Miss Millie! Not to mention Mommy's wine! :wine:

Well, another day in Gillyland has come and gone. I had the pleasure of golfing today with Mike "The Tin Can Man" and Gayle Roberts and HotRodGirl. We played a course more in line with my skills which was Turtle Mound. We had a few pars and everyone hit a good shot or two. After golf we retired to Bonifay CC for some much needed victuals and drink which was followed (at least by me) by a nice nap. This truly is a wonderful place!!!
Can't wait to attend the GillyBration on Wednesday!!!
Hope to see all of you there!!!

It's nice to know that you and Dave will be back soon to supplement the losses we've suffered with other neighbors returning home to tend to various affairs. It'll be nice to have both of you back. Can't wait to play golf with both of you. Pickleball is still a little questionable for me...:clap2:

Handyman needed. I need two TV's put up on the wall. Does anyone know a good handyman who is reasonable and could do such a job, thanks!

Not off the top of my head I don't. I'd do a search on TOTV for a general handyman. I'm sure that there's a thread on here somewhere for such an animal!

What progress has been made on this house which is just across the street from our patio on Kilgore. A lot of digging and rebar went on today and I would guess that concrete for the footers is not far away. Great progress for Mike Yost and his bride!!!

Thanks to the Mayor of Gilchrist, we joined the TOTV. Just returned home to Pittsburgh after 2 wonderful weeks in TV designing our new home on Kilgore Way across from Rusty & his wonderful family. (Hi to Janice, Sally & Gracie). We thoroughly enjoyed the Gillybration at EP on 5/10 and especially the opportunity to meet so many new neighbors. Construction of our home was to start today. Wondering if you are still willing to post pics??? And how do I find them??? We're new to this format so any help would be appreciated. We are trying to finish up the 36 year cleanout we've been working on the past year & still waiting for a buyer:pray: for our home here so we can move into Gilchrist later this summer. :2excited:

Really missing all you guys and TV. :mademyday:
We have been out buying bits and bobs of two sets of golf kit, shoes, gloves, tees, balls and another set of Golf Clubs each - its an expensive hobby this golf lark is, especially when you need two sets of everything!
At least over here in the UK, we dont have Gators swallowing our balls and can fish them out of the water with impunity! :1rotfl:

Hectic 10-12 Weeks!
We finished the design meetings (4 full days) at the end of January, and we figured we would put our Atlanta home up for sale during late spring and be frogs by late summer. However, an email changed the plan. A couple was looking to buy in our neighborhood, and everything snowballed from there. We didn’t use a realtor and closed on the Atlanta house on March 29. We closed on our Gilchrist house (210.117) on April 11 and lived out of suitcases at Susie’s sister’s mountain home. Susie has been here since 4/18 and I came down 2 weeks ago after the semester ended. It has been very hectic, but the end result is what kept us going! Thanks to A4 Skyhawk for the mover recommendation…we shared the same 18 wheeler from Knoxville to TV.
We are looking forward to meeting our Gilly/TV neighbors and enjoying everything TV has to offer!

For those of you following the saga of our pool/spa install here are the pavers in the lanai that will continue around the pool shortly..
The nice thing is they cost only $1 a sq ft.
A whole lanai can be done for about $400, a driveway under $1,000.
They will deliver the stone, simple to put in yourself.

Have a safe trip, Carol. Sweetie and Rosie, take care of mommy! Wear your insulated undies, it is freezing cold here in Flintstone Land today. We are starting out in the 40's. A high today of only 57. That's cold enough to freeze your golf balls. :icon_wink:
We are still packing and purging. Corvette sold yesterday. The house is starting to look empty. Today we bring donations to various places. All in all, we are getting through the process one step at a time. We should have started this process years ago.
Beau came north to help us out and get his Chevelle. He said, " I know this is morbid to say but, most kids clear stuff out after their parents die. I must say, it's a lot more fun doing it while you are alive!" :ohdear: He always tells it like it is! It has been fun going through boxes of memories. :a040:

We are still packing and purging. Corvette sold yesterday. The house is starting to look empty. Today we bring donations to various places. All in all, we are getting through the process one step at a time. We should have started this process years ago.
Beau came north to help us out and get his Chevelle. He said, " I know this is morbid to say but, most kids clear stuff out after their parents die. I must say, it's a lot more fun doing it while you are alive!" :ohdear: He always tells it like it is! It has been fun going through boxes of memories. :a040:
Soon, we will be ready to hit the reset button in The Villages!:a040:
Don't need your insulated undies down here today. Must have been over 90 this afternoon. But we managed to stay cool in the pool.
Glad you are making good progress going through your stuff. It's an interesting process and just think of how much easier it is on your kids now. Tell them with so little left to do when you die they can have that much more time to party.
:a040:Ready to welcome you back, as well as all the other summer Gillys. The old "hood" is too quiet.

Just checking in to say I have arrived safely with Rosie and Sweetie in tow to the Atlanta area. Easy peasy drive today, just 6 hrs with stops, and I am enjoying a nice glass of Malbec with a little Brie cheese! On to Louisville tomorrow, then Chgo on Sunday. Miss everyone already and can't wait to finish up all my tasks in the frozen tundra and head back down to Gillyland!!
Hope you are all having fun playing golf and pickleball and staying cool in the pools!!!

Well its official - Ann Marie and I sold the house today. We now live at the Jersey Shore and hopefully get to spend more time in TV when it is cold up north. Maybe you caught the "Today Show" on NBC this morning which was broadcast from Seaside where we now live. It was a regular media event with the cast of the Today Show and the NJ Governor. Unfortunately, it was a cold and rainy day to kick off the Memorial Day Weekend.
Have a safe and happy holiday weekend. Looking forward to seeing the gang when I fly down next week to accept delivery of all the boxes we had shipped south.

You guys did pretty well today. Concrete block delivered late yesterday along with sand and mortar. Work commenced today in the mid-morning and by the end of the day you had the stem walls in place and ready for rough-in plumbing!
Coming along nicely!!!
:crap2:
Can't tell you how much we look forward to "watching" our house come to life! :bigbow: And in addition to meeting so many of you at EP when we had our design appointment 2 weeks ago, we are really excited we can continue to learn about you all through TOTV. Returned home to Pittsburgh to continue the cleanout of 36 years and 5 kids worth of stuff. We also are very happy to be doing it ourselves and reliving the memories of a lifetime while we still can! Can't wait to get there, but still waiting for our house to sell. Think I'd rather be enjoying your 90 degree temp instead of our 45 degrees right now with freeze warnings tonite. It's hard to believe.

I had the opportunity to run by Shawn & Freddies Cat House today and found that the rough-in plumbing had been completed and plastic vapor barrier installed in the slab area. The inspection post says that the rough-in was approved today but the final plumbing inspection hasn't been done.
Looking good!

Floor poured today and blocks delivered. Walls will probably go up Monday if they are working. Shawn and Feddie, join us tomorrow at Gilchrist Pool at 5:00pm. Meeting the neighbors on Dafoe.

Jeesh!! What a time to have to travel back to the Chicago area... So much going on in Gillyland! I am definitely missing out on all the fun, and will also miss quite a few reunions of those returning. That being said, the sooner I take care of business, the sooner I can return to the bubble!
Today went well! Left Atlanta 8:30, sunshine and lovely weather all day. Arrived Louisville about 4 PM, both dogs behaved and are curled up with me aa we speak. A-4, stopped in TN at Nickajack Lake and the Tennessee River. Walked around for a half hour of so and it was lush and green and beautiful! Nashville was hopping with some music festival, and I breezed thru the mountains on 24. Such a pretty state! Six hours to Chi-town and a barbecue with friends tomorrow, then the work begins! :ohdear:
Miss you all and hope to be back soon!!:clap2:

This thread certainly has done a magnificent job of keeping all the Gillyland 'wannabees' and 'absent friends' briefed about the neighbourhood and helping with all that feeling of missing and loss of seperation down to a minimum. :bigbow:
Glad Hotrods homewood journey is going well and glad that new and old neighbours are coming back (or in) to offset the leavers to keep the fulltimers company. :doggie::doggie:
Thank goodness we have had a few good weather days here in the UK (well two), after the first week of rain and overcast days - or the 'Gillyland loss' withdrawl symtoms we are suffering from would be much worse.
To keep our spirits high we have been shopping for golf 'kit' and now we have the lot, including a set of golf clubs for us both made by Ben Sayer, a UK firm, who are the oldest golf club maker in the world! - do they sell them in the US? :coolsmiley:
Today (Monday 27th) will be our first day out with them, so we will keep our fingers crossed and follow the GillyCruisers advice :- "Left arm straight, head down and follow through", we will see if it still works!
Had a great boost to our flagging spirits yesterday as we Skyped His Worship the Mayor and the Lady Mayoress and actually seeing our friends in the flesh is a great moral booster. :a040:
Those still there, please give our regards to all the newcomers and returnees when you meet them and Mr Mayor and A4, please give the 'Mums' a big hug from us to keep them going until we get back to do it ourselves:clap2:
Bye to all for now :ho::ho::ho:

Glad you two had that lovely pool to keep cool in.
We have just had two scorching hot days, the second day it even reached 74! - the sun was shinning, the sky was blue, wild flowers are all in bloom and the birds were singing, makes you glad to be alive.
We didn't dive in the pool though, for 1. we would have banged our head on the bottom (1ft deep) and 2. we would probably have gotten frostbite when we got out. :a040::a040:

Hi Jimbo,
We have not managed to find anyone to teach us Colonial English yet, but we don't give up easily and we will keep looking.
Had our first Golf Game since getting back to the UK today, but please don't ask how we did, one of us sucked, but it wasn't Her Ladyship, she did quite well.
It was a very hilly course at a place called Tapton, which is the former stately home of George Stephenson, who built the worlds first public railway around 1830 and invented the worlds 'Standard Gauge' railway.
We were shattered when we finished pulling the cart up hill and down dale.
See the pictures below;
Picture 1 shows the view down to the 1st tee and you play back up the hill.
The Church in the background, is known as 'The Crooked Spire' and dates back to Saxon times (~1000yrs).
14654
Picture 2 shows Her Ladyship pitching onto the 7th tee, which again shows how high we are.
14655
Hope to see you soon

Hi Guys,
We miss you both too and we have been following your advice today on our first golf outing with our new UK clubs, which only allowed one of us to play well unfortunately  - at least i am claiming the clubs were the problem to save my pride, Her Ladyship played well, so her clubs worked ok! :MOJE_whot:

What a day! Last week I had the bright idea to play the "Big Boys" course and Meredith thought it was a great thing to do (remind me not to listen to her encouragement again)..:faint:
We lined up Dave & Mike Roberts to accompany us and got to play the back nine of Bonifay (Destin I think) for half price at 4:20pm. I now know that I need lessons desperately. For anyone who has played with me, you will know when I say that this game was the worst of anything I've done and that's saying a lot! :1rotfl:
Suffice it to say that when I hit the ball or even hit it straight, it normally went into a sand trap. On one hole I even went from sand trap into another sand trap. I told Mike that I've never paid good money to be this miserable..:ohdear: Oh yea...I think I killed someones lanai on the 18th tee.
More often than not I'd walk off the green with my head down whilest dragging my poor putter behind me.

Awwww. I still think it was a great idea to play a "Big Boy's" course. I had fun. Never could find my errant ball on the first hole, but after that....it was fun.
On the subject of lessons....Check out the Game Enhancement Clinics at Sarasota (driving range across from Colony) Dave has done two of them and I've done one. We have one scheduled for this coming Monday on "Bunkers". That one might be especially helpful for those who find themselves on the "beach" frequently. Seriously, they have one hour classes for $15 each. Anywhere from 3 - 10 people in the class.
Anyone else who wants to take on a Championship course, let us know. We love the ability to play just nine holes for half price, and of course next week it will be $6 to play as many holes as you can get on if you start between 5 and 6 p.m. Call me cheap, but that's a SUPER deal:pepper2:

Google Maps now has Gilchrist done. We can see our street and house on the satellite view. Check it out.
Thanks for the heads up, Lee. Cool to see it, but hard to believe how much has changed even since the satellite mapped it. There are now about 500 houses across Buena Vista from Evans Prairie. Not to mention all the holes that have been filled in in Gilchrist. I think it must have been taken in early April, judging by the progress (or lack thereof) on our pool at that point.
Wow! This place is amazing

Just a quick tutorial on sprinklers.
The way the system was programmed by the builder is very basic this system is capable of a lot.
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTyvMuY-3utOr23IsS0s6UJLMVd0p8z3WN38LCGkE57NVbo3hH7ug
There R 3 different systems within it to set 1 or more zones to totally different schedules.
Say you want the front to get 40 minutes
Set program A (front lawn) to 40 starting at 5 AM
U can set it to any days of the week U wish say Tuesday & Friday, or set it to Interval.
Interval is using any number of days in between the days to water rather than set days of the week.
So an interval of 2 is every two days 3 every third day.
There R also upto 4 start times, here's how that works, you want to water a zone 40 minutes, but U see some water not getting absorbed and starting to pool on the surface.
Simple set that zone to 20 minutes rater than 40 but start it at 5AM as above, then give it 2 hour to soak in and start it again 7:30, now U R still giving it 40 minutes of water but more time to get to the roots.
Program B can run the back lawn or side etc, depends on perhaps sun or U don't want your back yard wet in the morning when you want to relax with your coffee, so set that zone to start at 4AM
Program C can run all your plants on a separate schedule.
By the way most experts agree the watering should be done early in the morning, watering at night may result in fungus in your lawns and leaves it dry all day the blistering heat.
Start about 4-6 AM in this time of the year and about 7-8 in the winter.
One more setting (and don't run the system on bypass really looks silly to see it raining with the sprinklers on) there is a % setting which varies thru the year it is the percent of time the sprinklers actually run if set to 75% for example (the builders setting you think U R watering for 40 minutes? no only 30, in the summer this should be set to 95-100%.
There R Utube video's on these settings to.
Hunter X-Core Programming 1 of 2: Overview and Setting Up Program A - YouTube
Hunter PRO-C sprinkler controller - YouTube
Webbtraining1 - Hunter Pro C Irrigation Control Timer - YouTube
How To Program Your Irrigation Controller - YouTube
I'm sure others can add what I missed here,
PS: most lawn maintenance guys don't know or care to take the time to do this stuff don't depend on them.
Now if U R still confused for a few Corona's I may be able to help!!!!!

My set up
Program A is my palm & plant drip system, these dispense water at 1 gallon an hour to the roots, this is set to interval every 3 days, with 4 start times, 8, 10:30, 1 & 3.
Program B is my turf, Sunday, Tuesday & Thur (then 2 days dry) 12 minutes on sprays and 20 on MP rotators, starting 4:40 and again at 6:45 so twice a day on those 3 days.
Program C is all the plant beds, Monday, Wed & Sat, 5AM & 7AM for 12 min each time.
I intend to leave those settings all summer into fall before cutting back.

Where's Our HotRod
Hey HotRod, you home yet?????
To answer your question, yes, I am now in the north burbs of Chicago! Got in about 7:30 last night. But am I home??? Hell no! Home is now in Gillyland with y'all! Can't wait to finish up business here in the cold, cold northland and head back down to the warmth of friends in TV! then for sure I will be home again! Miss everyone and look forward to my return ASAP:spoken:
Carol, very glad to hear you are safely back in CHI burbs. We will be making that drive soon enough. It seems somewhat quiet without you and the girls. No little doggie girls to pass by and say hi. Miss golfing with you also.
So hurry up and get all your work done and come back home. Hi to Jill.
I cant believe that I was 10 pages behind in readking TOTV. Could we get a petition to have the Villages build some houses next to us! We are by ourselves practically.
Jimbo thanks for all the info on sprinkling. Our garden is looking so nice I would hate to have it shrivel and die.
Glad to hear you are golfing Wendy and Andy. You will be so good when you return home. I better get more lessons. I have been so bad at hitting the weensy little ball. I am going to get some lessons that giichrestcruizers mentioned. Any one want to join me?
Mike and I have been playing Mexican train dominoes. If anyone wants to play, give us a call. It is fun and easy.
Welcome new gillys. We look forward to meeting all of you. If you like to golf, Mike and I have anyone looking to golf over to our house. He has set up a spreadsheet for golfing foursomes. We will be meeting at 7:00 on Thursday at Mike and Gayle's house.

Thanks so much for this information--I just got a message from our lawn guy that we need to water more and of course with Jim still up North I really didn't pay too much attention to the sprinklers or setting them when the house was being built. I'm going to have him read this and then attempt to rest the zones--yikes! :cus:

Well, our daughter and grandkids arrived this afternoon. Here through the weekend, then in and out for the month of June. Glad to have them, but it will certainly impede our ability to play golf and Mexican train (we also enjoyed playing that back home).
Re-landscaping project is nearly complete - just one more minor adjustment to the irrigation. Nothing fancy, just new sod and plants around our much enlarged lanai. Glad to see more green and less brown sand and muck. We will be watering every day for the next month or so and are so glad to be able to finally relax and enjoy the pool and lovely summer.
Glad to have Bob and Betty next door this week. Can't wait until they move here permanently. If you haven't met them, you should.
Welcome back Rich! Hope to see you sometime while you're here.

Sorry your experience was not what you expected. No matter what, it will all work out...if you purchased in Gilchrist the people you'll be surrounded by will more than make up for any shortcomings you are currently perceiving about your house. Maybe if you give us some details someone on this thread can help you craft a solution post-closing.

It was exactly one year ago today that our good Mayor, WVMtnBoy, first started this thread...a thread that has brought so many people together and helped turn our great Village of Gilchrist into such an awesome neighborhood. This thread has been a lifeline to so many whether they were looking for advice about contractors or logging on every 30 minutes to see if any pictures of their build had been posted or inquiring as to when the next Gillybration would be held. Rusty, your simple post started something really great...and I'm sure many will join me in shouting out a big Gilly THANK YOU!

This thread has been amazing. What's even more amazing is the number of "silent participants" that have tuned in everyday to see what's going on and to pick up on ideas for their lot selection and design. I've not been very silent, but I sure did learn a lot from the thread that got us to Gilchrist, helped design and build a wonderful house, and got us some incredible new friends. THIS IS BETTER THAN I EVER IMAGINED.
Thanks Mayor. I think I'll hug you :22yikes:

I think it was about this time last year that I first read His Honor's first post about moving to Gilchrist; since then Jim and I have bought our lot and have a 20 page guidebook printed all from the ideas on this thread for our design meetings. Reading all the posts from the characters in Gilchrist convinced me that this is the neighborhood for me. We'll be back down the week of July 7 for our design meetings and hoping to renew our old acquaintances and meet some of the newer characters that have moved to Gilchrist since our last visit in February. Today, June 2nd, marks the one year anniversary of our move to TV. Hard to believe all that has happened in the past 52 weeks, both in our lives, and in The Villages. WOW! We are forever grateful that we became FROGS and still keep pinching ourselves every day when we wake up in an awesome new house, in a fabulous new neighborhood, with an abundance of great neighbors. Thank you, thank you, thank you all for enriching our lives.
Wow and congratulations, :BigApplause:
Doesn't time fly and how fantastic our wonderful neighbourhood and new friends are. :plane:
You two have contributed a lot to the ambiance that permeates the 'village' and long may you continue to do so. :BigApplause:

It was exactly one year ago today that our good Mayor, WVMtnBoy, first started this thread...a thread that has brought so many people together and helped turn our great Village of Gilchrist into such an awesome neighborhood. This thread has been a lifeline to so many whether they were looking for advice about contractors or logging on every 30 minutes to see if any pictures of their build had been posted or inquiring as to when the next Gillybration would be held. Rusty, your simple post started something really great...and I'm sure many will join me in shouting out a big Gilly THANK YOU!
Absolutely true, thats why we keep buying him and his good lady a drink. :BigApplause:
Like many we are sure, every morning that we are away from the bubble, we log on to see what has been happening in the neighbourhood. :posting:
Your Lordship The Mayor and Lady Mayoress, as Calcteacher says, Gillyland does indeed owe you a big vote of thanks, if for nothing else, than a place where all the characters that make our neighbourhood the BEST, can expose their super sense of fun and where new friendships can and are forged that will last a lifetime. :bigbow:

I think Skyhawk has met his match. Yesterday evening, community watch stopped us while we were walking our dog. He told us that there was a gator near Brinkley and for us to be careful because our poodle would make a tasty appetizer!
Later we drove down Brinkley and CW told us where the gator was and for us to not go near it.
We wanted to notify Skyhawk and have him walk down and for comparison sake, lay next to it. CW would not go for it but he showed us a picture. Sorry Skyhawk, gator was about 7 feet and a little heavier than you! Don't worry the gator found its way back to the water.
Maybe the gator will come back today and we can get pictures of him and Skyhawk?

Just about to put a deposit down on lot 109 in section 211.
1606 Gullberry Place. Lanai will face Pinellas and the 8th green is directly behind us. Very excited. But confused about the timeframe for building.
Is this right?
-$7500 deposit to hold lot, sign contract to purchase lot
-6 mo to choose house and have design meeting and give the remainder of 20% of total home
-closing date set at design meeting, according to builders schedule. (60-75 days out)
Is this correct? Our sales person is on vacation so I'm not sure of the timeframe.
She said something about coming back after the $7500/contract for lot. To make preliminary choices. It sounded like she wanted the 20% then. But I thought we had 6 mo from contract date.
Can anyone clarify? Thanks!! We live in Utah and airfare ain't cheap this time of year. Hoping we just have to return for design appt.

Hi Dottie! I'm not sure of the current criteria for homes. The $7500 deposit sounds correct but I believe that I've been told that build time from deposit to build may be 3 mos for those on a golf course. I'm assuming you'll get a design date once you put down the deposit. After design (2-3 days in length) you'll be given a build date. Building does start on time. Near the end of the build you'll be given a closing date when you'll bring the remainder of the money. At least that's how I remember it happening. I'm sure that some of the newer members on the site will be able to give you the most current scoop.
Good Luck!

Our lot is not golf front, it is across Pinellas from the course. So that was a decent savings.
Seems I saw a previous poster who built as Aspen, probably next door to us.
We are also building an Aspen.
I am sure they will have us make significant changes so that the houses don't look too similar. Definitely don't want a cookie cutter look.
We were just concerned about making any extra trips out there that won't really achieve anything that we could otherwise have achieved by fax or email.
We are very excited and wish we could become full time residents sooner, but we are looking at a 2 1/2 yr time frame. We were blown away by what you all enjoy there and can't wait to come and pay ourselves. But first the buying process.......

Latest Pics ..Can't wait!!
We just put a deposit down and signed our lot purchase contract for the lot next to you! The bad news is we are Also building an Aspen. I know they will make sure that our houses do not look too much alike. But it is such a fantastic floorplan. What good taste you have!
Your house looks fantastic!!!! The view is even better than we thought it would be. We have not really even been to the lot. We were looking at CYV's when were were there 2 weeks ago. The last day we saw the Aspen and both knew it was the home for us.
I started looking at lots online and found our lot. The other one we were considering backed up to a CYV wall so that it had privacy, but when I saw the price on this lot across from the golf course, We were sold!!! Ours is the 4th lot I think. 211 #109 I think the address is 1612 Gullberry. Our docs don't give the street address. Just the parcel number. Our sales rep sent us a couple of photos and that is what we have made our purchase based upon. Your photos helped us to see what a great choice is was!
Best wishes in your new home from your soon to be neighbors!

You are right, after deposit you have six months to schedule the design meeting. 20% of house is due at end of design meeting when they will assign you a closing date. Our agent told us that build out was taking about 80 days. We bought in Gilchrist also, Section 214 on Vicksburg. We are going down 7 July for our design meetings and to put our deposit down. Your timeframe is correct, welcome to the Village it's going to be a wonderful place for all of us to retire. Be well and enjoy the process. Since I'm just a few steps ahead of you feel free to ask me questions, I'll be happy to help. Have a good weekend. . .

Back into retirement mode now and planning the next trip out to the Golf Course.
We stayed up the other night and raised a glass to all our friends meeting at the Gillybration at Evans Prairie, when we say friends we mean all our old ones and all the new ones we have yet to meet - can't wait to get back to TV and get back into the new expanded Golf Team.

This is the thread (New Villagers in Gilchrist) that announces get togethers at EP and other special events. If you look back a couple of pages you'll see the posting by The Mayor for last nights Gillybration. Sorry you missed the last few events. We have had to 'work' down in London for the last couple of days, what a shock to the system, well when we say 'work', all we had to do was meet and great a few guests to our companies Trade Show, but being on our feet all day and we were whacked out! :024:
Back into retirement mode now and planning the next trip out to the Golf Course.
We stayed up the other night and raised a glass to all our friends meeting at the Gillybration at Evans Prairie, when we say friends we mean all our old ones and all the new ones we have yet to meet - can't wait to get back to TV and get back into the new expanded Golf Team.
See you all again soon
Contrary to the deliberately erroneous posts by our distinguished A-4, the lawns of Junction29 and HotRodGirl are not dying due to divots taken by the mayor but rather by the salty tears of the mayor that are shed whilst lying prostate on the lawns grieving over the absence of the aforesaid occupants.
:cryin2:
Surely there must be some remedy for this terribly ailment??? Ah yes...golf and beer. We shall see what effect that has!!!

Seriously folks.....
Do you realize how much fun it would be to pull something like this off. There surely are enough empty beer bottles in this neighborhood to supply a full band for many years to come. I can't believe they did it with straight faces!

Chief Rose, Mike R. and I played 6 dollar golf tonight at Evans Prairie. First we had to chase a gator off the course in front of us and then when we got to the 18th green we found Mikes ball on the back of a big turtle. Then Mike took a picture of the turtle and ball when it fell off.
It was a GREAT PUTT MIKE

Her ladyship thought you had put "It was a GREAT BUTT MIKE", until I pointed out that she had misread it, but even then she thought that was what you should have said!! :a040:
We just hope that this Turtle doesn't suffer the same fate that the last one you saw on the course suffered - a gator snack! :beer3:
On another totally different topic;
We are a little worried that now Jimbo has launched the Solar Powered Golf Carts that the neighbourhood will not be safe, with all those silent carts running around and mowing strollers down. :gc::gc::gc::gc::gc:
Did we ought to ask him to fit pedestrian sensors and automatic horns on? although, on second thoughts NO, imagine the heart attacks that might cause, perhaps speed bumps might do the trick. :pepper2::pepper2:

Well, my visa for visiting TV expired and I am now sitting in the United Club at the airport waiting for my flight back to NJ. Bob was kind enough to give me a ride to LSL to catch the shuttle and Mike stopped by the house with Bo to say goodbye. I was only able to stay for 2 weeks to accept delivery of the boxes we had shipped from up north. Still, it was good to see everyone and get in a few rounds of golf. Unfortunately, Andy, Wendy, Carol, Dave & Sue were all away so I didn't get to see them this trip.
While it has been great here, and I hate to leave, it will be good to see my better half back home. She has been taking care of things since we moved from central Jersey to our place at the shore. She has also had her hands full with housebreaking and training the new puppy.
Hope to see everyone when I stop down for a short visit at the end of July. I've been told in no uncertain terms that I am not allowed back unless Ann Marie comes with me.

The Mayor (Rusty) on the other hand, may get nailed for holding the chemicals and not being on the Beer label unless he has changed his name to "BONNY SIR JOHNNY". He talks "West Virginian" and not funny enough to get away with the brewery problems that exist in Gilchrist.

Never fear! The Mayor has authorized the Village Treasurer (A-4) to make available all of the funds in the Village Treasury to assist Sir John, Lady Wendy and Princess Mills in their quest to return to GillyLand.
