Hey Buddy! I just thought I'd let you know that Janice was in WV when you posted the news about getting your lot in Gillyland. She said that she was sitting on her sisters porch that night and suddenly heard a heavenly host singing the "Hallelujah Chorus" and knew that something significant had happened but didn't know what. When I told her about you getting the lot it all made sense.
:clap2::MOJE_whot::a040::coolsmiley::pepper2:
Boy . . . . if you guys only knew what you're getting into with me . . . . . Are you sure Janice wasn't hearing ROCKY TOP ? I've never gotten a Hallelujah before

Well, I have a recommendation to make about lot selections! I would be totally remiss in not giving a hearty shout out to Gillyland...does that surprise anyone??? I absolutely love it here and it's only going to get better..:0000000000luvmyhors
Hey . . . . I already know those Michiganders and they are some FINE PEOPLE. They'd make some GREAT Gilly's

Yikes! It's hard to keep up when you've been a bit of an absentee member of late. So much news, so little time!
Twin, your place is really coming along now and looking fantastic after a bit of a slow start! Good to see so much progress!
Rusty-love the Prarie style Frank Lloyd Wright inspired glass! What an awesome thing to do! Can't wait to see that in person.
Trish, hope you find the perfect lot in Gilly! I bought May 9th and my meeting was on Sept 6th. So 4 months out. They were running behind at that time, so not sure about the current situation!
Two days ro close! Can't hardly believe it's almost here... See you soon!:2excited:

After taking pictures of all the other homes and the gorgeous, grass filled lot of A-4 I finally realized that I haven't been keeping you up to date on what's going on with our home.
A few weeks ago, we found two old, stained glass windows at the antique mall on Rt 44 near Wildwood. We bargained the price down and took them home. Then we had to figure out how to hang then with a back light. We finally decided to build a frame and put a small piano type light behind the glass. I finished up the windows this morning and got them hung. The pics aren't great because of the lighting but they look really nice and give the lanai a homey touch.
Enjoy
Hi both, the stained galss looked good when we saw them the other day, but the picture really shows them off and what a great idea!
Met Bob and Cathy at Paddock Square tree lighting last night, another great couple, lively and sharp.
Almost missed each other because we don't have a US phone yet and Bob was trying to ring us, but couldn't get through and we couldn't understand why he hadn't rung and finally rang him.
The number on the spreadsheet is our UK one, so if you don't have international call package you can't ring us, but you can text us on that number.
Thats two couples we have met, Rusty and Janice and Bob and Cathy, both great.
Bumped into a new lady called Kitty taking pictures around the neighbourhood, who is buying a lot on Amherst and told her about the site and the 'do' on the 5th, hopefully she will come.
Whilst we were waiting for Bob and Cathy to arrive last night, we saw Kitty again!
Called to see the new Recreation Centre at the bottom of the road and there bumped into another prospective neighbour called Suzy and told her about this site, hope to see her on soon.
Then two nights ago we were in Crackerbarrel and sat at the bar at the side of a Bob & Diane who have a house at the bottom of Amherst, they didn't know about this site so they gave us an email address, but when we tried to use it, we got a bounceback - must have wrote it down wrong!
What a small world.
Can't wait to meet everyone else.

Does anyone know...if we come down next week and pick out a lot, how long will we have to wait for our design meeting? I know I can ask our agent but I just like talkin to you guys.
Trish,
I just bought and took a cancelled appt someone gave up on dec 26, otherwise I'd have been booked in mid January.

Welcome, Kitty! My husband and I are at 2999 Amherst. We are at the not-friendly tee to hole 3 so you must be just up the road from us! We settle on 12-20-12.
You've come to the right place for all things Gilly! If you have any questions about your design meeting, just ask away!
Have fun being a GilBilly!
HI! Nice to hear from you. I'll be at the gathering the 5th if you are there, will be good to meet.

Rusty, your windows look beautiful, would love to see them in person sometime.
Hotrod, can't believe your closing is finally here tomorrow, wishing you much happiness and many healthy years in your new place.
Twin, now if they are painting, it should move fast. Beautiful.
Junction29, sounds like you are getting acclimated. Enjoy.
Unfortunately, we will also miss the Dec. 5, drinks and dinner, but I have a feeling that is just the start of many future gathering. Enjoy!

There, there Skyhawk. Don't be troubled. All of this is just a dream. There is no real place called The Villages; no Gilchrist; no new home celebrations, idyllic sunrises or romantic walks around peaceful sparkling lakes.
Now, isn't that better?

But it was a great crowd and great night.

Hi Everyone!!! What a night it has been. The 1st Gilly Gathering has come and gone and I do believe that everyone had a fantastic time. I know that Janice and I most certainly did. Thanks to Terry Bishop for being our official social coordinator and obtaining some very nice accommodations at Evans Prairie Country Club. We met at 5:00 for drinks and introductions followed by a really nice dinner on the lanai at the CC. We even managed to add to the group when Gayle and Mike showed up. These two were recruited by Andy & Wendy who ran into them and found out that they are also going to build in Gilchrist.
Condolences to those of you who weren't or couldn't make it. This might have been the first but I can assure you that IT WILL NOT BE THE LAST!!! :pepper2::pepper2::pepper2:
Terry really surprised Janice, Hotrod and I with our official Gillbilly drinking glass. I've got a pic of Hotrod getting hers and a pic of her holding same. It won't be long until all of us are together celebrating closing, birthdays and just anything that deserves celebrating!!!
Thank you all for being our friends!!!
PS - Freddie, now would be a good time for you and Shawn to jump in and get your feet wet...lol

Kitty you are the lucky winner of one of the prettiest views in the whole place. I was trying to hold out for #113 from June 6 when we bought a lot in 205 until our design meeting Oct 1 and they didn't release 210 until a month after our design was done. We did switch to a lot just across Destin hole #1 from you in 208 and I'm very happy with the view we have. I've added a few pictures from our "back yard" back when we had the design meeting. Our closing is the 21st of this month and we can't wait to see the finished house and what the view looks like from the lanai and thru the pocket sliders from the living room.
I'd still love to see your view when your house is built. Have you decided on the model?

We fell in love with a home already built on a much larger lot like 118 x 100, room for a future pool if wish, (have to keep up with Hotrod)
It facing exactly the way I wanted to solar orientation, we close Jan 2nd.

Congrats, Jimbo. Please forgive me for asking something personal, but did that entail your forfeiting your deposit? The reason I'm asking is because we recently discovered that the lot we've reserved is inches short of adding the stretch we want. We've gone back to the drawing board and searched for lots that might be close to meeting our needs, and even letting go of some of our other wants with respect to orientation, etc. (Figuring out lot dimensions is no easy task)! After much work, we've discovered that there are fewer lots available that meet our dimensional needs, except those that have a very high lot premium on the golf course. When we compare the costs of those to re-sales, the re-sales seem better priced, with mature landscaping and all the other amenities that people have added over the years. Since we put a full year's deposit down, we are really in a quandry. I thought building our own would enable us to get what we want; instead we are feeling really stuck. Still, glad it worked out for you, but was wondering how, if you don't mind my asking.

Our rep told us that the deposit can go for another lot or any spec, but not for a resale even if TV is listing it ... Sorry to give you that news .... We are going down tomorrow for design on Mon. But have all day Sun. with our rep looking at specs.and lots. I was hoping lots on Bluebeard Ct would open up .....not yet!
Good luck with your pursuit!

We agree our research in the build idea was not wasted time, that learning curve will be applied here now. It just harder to do things with the walls already up.
We moved the sold sign this morning, having just finished moving about 10 days ago into storage in NY means it all needs to get packed again in 3 weeks....oh fun.
yes the landscaping will take some thought. Several months ago I hooked up with a licensed landscape architect to do all the planning etc,
he'll have a lot more to work with here he has really nice portfolio.

Yes, after living in TN you should know that it's stills that blow up. The worst thing that can happen here is to have a lot of blow off from the fermentation or a bottle blow up due to over priming with sugar. Geez, I hope that doesn't happen. If it does then the Gilly Grogg will be banned to some undisclosed location outside of the house...lol.
On the other hand, I was afraid that I had killed the yeast by putting it in the wort while the wort was too hot but it's bubbling away and that means it fermenting. Heaven only know what Andy's gonna have to try in a few weeks.

Well, it has to ferment which takes about 6 days to complete, then resting in the bottle for about a week and then aging which takes about 2 weeks so figure about a month until we'll know if I've produced anything that's drinkable. The quality that this has over the 'shine is the aging process!!! rofl This is tough for an impatient person like me!!!!

Gosh--you guys have been way too busy in GillyLand while we're braving the cold and rain up North--we need some sun! :cold: Hotrod I hope you're not too exhausted by all the unpacking and entertaining and will have time for a cocktail or two come January. We've been busy trying to tie up all the loose ends of the insurance/furniture/possibly moving some items down, etc. A lot to take care of. Rusty--how's our house? Is it finished and ready for us? We'll be thinking of you all on Wednesday--it's Jim X-mas party so we'll toast as we're missing another fun evening in GillyLand :grumpy: Have fun and enjoy.

Hope to see many of you on Friday at my place. No need to bring a thing. Trish, hope you are still in town and can make it over! The house definitely won't be together, but either will I! Okay...How about this. Janice and I will be at Evans Prairie CC at 8:00pm on Wednesday, December 12 for anyone who wants to do a meet & greet over cocktails. We'll be in the outside lounge area and I'll have a GilBilly sign on the table. That way there will be no confusion...I hope!
See you there!
I sure wish Terry were here to coordinate all of this! I'll be keeping an eye on your lot for signs of construction! Hurry Back!!!
Any chance of also doing this on Wednesday, December 19th at 8:00??? That is when Ann Marie and I will be down. I also know from the spreadsheet that there are two other couples that will be in TV that week.

Or, maybe that week, instead of the "usual" Wednesday night happy hour we could do Thursday night or Friday night.

Just saw Kitty's post about New Years. We will be arriving in TV on Monday the 31st around 1:00 pm. :2excited: We would love to host but I am still recovering from my ankle surgery therefore, don't feel we could commit this year. That would mean Rich would have to be both the set up and clean up comittee:22yikes: Last year we went with several others to the Colony Rec Center, where they provided a band, noise makers and champagne at midnight. it was BYOB and appetizers. :smiley:Was wondering if someone there now could find out if perhaps Captiva might be doing something similar? :bigbow:If not, perhaps we could all meet up at the Evan's Prairie watering hole? Just some ideas for those that will be there for New Years. We would also like to meet with those which are going to be there and we will only be down for a week this time. :beer3:Linda and Rich

We are closing on 12/28/12 and moving to our new home on Hollyhock Way on 01/14/13. We originally were building an Iris on Ridgewood Path but traded and purchased a finished Lantana that matched our likes and needs therefore skipping design, building, waiting, etc. Look forward to meeting neighbors in Fernandina and Gilchrist in a few weeks. To anyone here New Years Eve,
I just called Evans Prairie, they do have the band, Three for the Road, from 7-11 pm, when they close. It is their regular menu and they may have a couple dinner specials, but that is it. Who closes at 11:00PM on New Years?
Who is going to be in TV for New Years, and is anyone interested in getting together or have plans already been made? Thanks.:MOJE_whot:

Thank you and yes the wine rack was one of the changes we made--moved the pantry from the kitchen to the laundry--put in the wine rack and moved the stationary tub from the laundry to the garage. Loved the wine rack from another model--asked about it and Lisa our designer was able to do it. So if anyone hasn't designed as yet--anything is possible to move around--just ask.

Hi Everyone! Well, we had another successful gathering last night at Evans Prairie. Several new people showed up and a lot of them were permanent residents who hadn't met all of their neighbors. I believe that a good time was had by all who attended!
We are planning another get together for Wednesday, December 19th at the request of ChiefRose for anyone who is going to be in our little slice of heaven on that day. Hope to see you there!!!

Hi everyone,
We checked with the manager of Evan's Praire last night and he confirmed that if the crowds are still there, then they will stay open to midnight and beyond and the music will be on until then also.
However, if there are more than 17 of us, we will need to book within the next couple of days. :crap2:
There was also some talk last night about maybe having a house party instead (or as well as ), depending upon numbers.
So either way, we could do with some idea of how many of us are likely to be welcoming in the New Year together.
We have volunteered to help the Mayors Office determine numbers, so could you please post whether you will be joining us on New Year, so we can go ahead and get some plans in place?

I'll get you back for being the second to last home to be built. more importantly, just get your little selves back down here! I think you should fly in for the New Year!

After living in Gilchrist since August 23rd (209-24), we are amazed at how much has happened in just a few short months.
Welcome to all our new neighbors. We have been out of the country for a few weeks, and no visits are immediately forthcoming with kids and grand kids, so we look forward to greeting all the newcomers. It sounds like you all have been very busy in our absence.

Ho Everyone,
The New Year Eve Party list is now Full :BigApplause:
We will find the email address of everyone from Bob's spreadsheet, but if you are not on that, please PM us your email address.
Then menu's and any other details can be circulated through that, rather than the open forum.
We are having a set menu selection, that can be pre-ordered, to save the kitchen staff having to cope with such a large group all eating together and are looking to meet at 7:45 ish to eat at 8 :mmmm:
kind regards

Just a reminder that if you want to get on the "South of 466a" spreadsheet, I'm the guy who maintains and distributes it. It's been a pretty good tool for making contact with new neighbors and friends, especially for those of us who are going through the design and build process. And it's been good for the Snowbirds and Snowflakes to make email contact with their new neighbors. If you want to get on, send me a PM or email (RJ900@comcast.net) and I'll add you. :posting: All I need to get you started is name(s), unit and lot, and email address.

The Mayor does a fabulous job doesn't he?
Don't worry about a fridge for the Corona, just tell us when you are buying some and we will pop around and help you drink it before it gets warm :police:

My wife and I just got here this afternoon and looked at our new house in person for the first time. It is beautiful. And amazing they can build one so quickly.
When you stretch in every direction, have a full width driveway and add bushes, there isn't much grass to cut...... or distance to your next door neighbor. That was the only real surprise, even seeing some pictures during construction didn't bring it home. Closing is Friday morning.
Look forward to meeting a bunch of you Wed at Evan's Prarie CC.

Janice and I just had a wonderful night with Junction29 who closed today!!!:BigApplause: We knew with the closing and moving that they would be hungry and tired so we had them over for a late dinner, sangria and coffee. This kind of life is exactly what I had in mind when we decided to move to TV. Good food, good company and good drinks.
This is what Gilchrist is all about and I'm so happy with all of our neighbors. This place will only improve when everyone is here!!! By the way, I sure wish the rest of you would hurry up and get down here...
We have the gathering at Evans Prairie on Wednesday where I'm looking forward to meeting even more of our new friends. :crap2: We're also looking forward to having more people over for drinks, dinner, desert and coffee in the very near future.
For those of you that still aren't here...:cold:...we'll keep the light on for ya!

Dear all,
We have closed today and after a very busy day we will be sleeping in our brand new bed tonight in our brand new home.
Thank you to those of you that popped in to say hello and who have posted a 'congratulations' on the thread and a special thanks to The Mayor and Lady Mayoress who very kindly invited us over for an evening meal and a relaxing drink.
A long day but a very satisfying one, the professional way the 'builders walk through' and the subsequent closing meeting went is truly impressive.
Anyone is welcome to call in at any time and cold corona, wine or soft drink or English tea will be ready and waiting (as soon as we work out how to work the new coffee machine then there will be coffee as well).
Look forward to meeting old and new friends on Wednesday
kind regards

Yankee Quilter, if you are like me, you will wonder if the selections you made will look nice. I know when we left, I second guessed myself, but it was wonderful in the end. I am sure your begonia will be lovely. Now a couple months to wait. Congratulations!

Congratulation to all the closers and those new to the thread. Today Ann Marie and I had day one of design. It went really well and all that needs to be done tomorrow is picking out the granite slab and writing that big check.
It sounds like there is going to be a good size gathering tomorrow night and it will be really good to finally meet everyone.
A-4 where did all those buildings come from in 210? On the website it didn't look like there should be any houses.
