So many new soon-to-be-friends now on this thread!
To any of my Gilchrist neighbors...anyone use a cleaning service? Looking for someone to do a one-time cleaning on my house before my other sister comes for a visit in a couple of weeks (youngest sister just left with her family and I'm not there to clean it...want my other sister and her family to have a clean home to use).

Gayle & Mike . . . .
Wonderful evening at your place last night. Thank you for having us. It was good to meet so many new neighbors and putting faces with the names.
I do have one complaint :swear: . . . . it was having to wait in line for 10 minutes to give Bosoxfan a "Welcome To The Neighborhood Hug". I'll never shun a Newbie again. While waiting in the receiving line to hug Bosoxfan, Cathy and I met Twinspin and reniecurry3 so the wait was worth it.
Thanks again.

Presenting Emma! After three abandonments, she found me. This picture is of her receiving Certifications as a Therapy Dog and Canine Good Citizen.
The instructor unofficially gave her Best in Class.

Beau and I are going to class to get Beau certified in Therapy Dog. I am so excited about this. We will be able to go to nursing homes, assisted living and maybe even the hospital.
Emma is beautiful. I love all the bully breeds. They just have great faces and silly, fun personalities. And congrats to her for the Blue Ribbon! :clap2:

Hello everyone,

Last week we got gutters by Hill's Irrigation and epoxy garage floor by Tim The Tool Man. Great job by both. Today things really took off. Busby Closet Systems installed all five closets, Mike Scott Plumbing did the whole house water filter & master shower head, The Solar Guys installed solar tubes in the kitchen and 3rd bathroom, Wall Beds Plus installed a panel bed in BR #3 and built-ins in the study, and Amy started the process for coating the lanai and patio. WHAT A DAY !! And a great job by each.
Tomorrow Amy finishes the lanai & patio and Bright House does their thing. Furniture arrives from Tennessee Saturday. WHAT A GREAT PLACE THIS IS !!

I am not sure how to post something without "replying" but I want to say we had our design meeting last week &, though tiring, our designer was wonderful, patient, & we made some decisions to make our Iris special. So if you're prepared & come in with your lists of requests, they don't automatically say no. We are in Sanibel renting right now & our move in date is 7/8 so let us know when the next Gillybration is

Congratulations that you made it through the design meeting with no problems. We just closed last week and are crazily going through arranging for after closing things in the house, but we will be there just for the day Friday and then coming back Tuesday. If there is a gillybration or happy hour get together sometime on those days it would be great.

Jim and I are closing on May 6th - We need to have a Gilly Celebration sometime that week. We are excited about meeting everyone. Mr Mayor and Gillyland adminstrative officers- we need to make sure we get together with the Gilly crowd to receive official residency status, learn the secret handshakes and other special protocols, and just have some fun! We will need a break from all the projects that we will be involved in right after closing. Hope to see everyone soon!

Hi Twiceis
His Worship the Mayor has decreed that any Gillylander or prospective Gillylander can call a neighbourhood Gillybration at Evans Praire, so looking at your post and the few after it, why don't one of you call one, on a convienient evening for you all and I am sure it will be well supported by those already in the Neighbourhood to give you a Gillyland welcome.:crap2::jester:

Okay guys, I need your opinions. Janice and I went to qualify today for our concealed weapons permit. I'm posting a pic of my target and am thinking of putting it on the door going into the laundry room from the garage. Lest you think I can't do my thing...the head shots were kind of quick fire. The center mass was not slow fire but not fast and the lower abdomen shots were quick fire aimed at the "5". Not bad for an old duffer!!!

Hi Mayor, I think Toni may be my neighbor over on the other side of you guys in 214...she is a real hoot and lots of fun...she has the cutest German Shepard/black Lab mix named Xena (like the Warrior Princess) who was so good and gentle with our two pugs...

:police:
Great job, Mayor and Mrs! I've had my permit for several years and need some practice (snicker...some folks come to mind, like the clowns who moved me). Be careful where you carry. I went in the bank carrying the other day, a bank with a metal detector, which did not go off, thank goodness. It's easy to forget where you can't carry!

Since we have a couple leaving next week for a short time, another going on a cruise and several new neighbors, how does everyone feel about a GillyBration on Wednesday night around happy hour at Evans Prairie??? Lemme know. :beer3:
I was at the mail boxes this evening and met a new GillyLander whose name is Toni! So, i invited her to the next get together and gave her the web address for this thread. I hope she reads the thread and shows up whenever we decide to have the next GillyBration!!!
Welcome, Toni!!! :a040:

I think you're probably right. She's a little on the short side, wears tinted glasses, has reddish hair and drives a black BMW. If she is your neighbor please make her come on over! She seems like a hoot!!! :coolsmiley:

I'm working with 209 and 210, someone else may want to do 211 and 212 given their geographical proximity, or maybe just one of them. Gilchrist is getting so big with so many people moving in it's really too cumbersome to keep all units together.

Hi Everyone! My wife and I have just purchased a lot in the Village of Gilchrist and have a design meeting on July 9th. We've already got a rental residence lined up and can't wait to become official Villagers. We hope to be there by mid-July if the closing on our home goes as planned. If anyone else is going into Gilchrist please stop by and give us a post...
My husband and I just moved into the Village of Gilchrist 4 weeks ago today. The people we have meet could not be any nicer. Friendly, warm. I know you are going to love living here. We are just starting to get into activities. What street are you moving to. Might be a neighbor of ours.

We had a Gillybration at EP last night and talked about you being interested in doing the 211/212 list if you were here full time. All I can tell you is I started and maintained the original south of 466A list for MONTHS before we moved here permanently. There were a BUNCH of people at EP last night that would love for you to do the 211/212 list. GilchristCruiser is doing the 209/210 list now. I have gone into List Retirement, drinking beer :beer3: and playing golf :gc:. WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE :pepper2: :pepper2:

We're closing on our house this Thursday and we can't wait to see it in person. Only staying a few days since we have to help our daughter get moved on the 23rd and welcome a new grandchild in mid-June. Talk about life-changing events for our family. It seems like we've missed lots of great parties but soon enough, we'll be FROGS. Hooray!!!

Sorry for the delay- just got access to the internet again. We had a great time at the celebration and meeting everyone. Felt like we knew folks already from all the great posts.
The closing is over- it was fast and although we feel a lot poorer now- we are so excited. Sleeping on air mattress until we find the right furniture is a real adventure.
Hopefully we will get out a walk around soon and say Hi- or just stop by

Dear all,
In accordance with the ordanance issued by His Worship the Mayor that ANY Gillylander could call a Gillybration, we are issuing one for Friday the 10th May, at 8pm at Evans Prairie. :MOJE_whot:
It is actually a GoodbyeBration as we are leaving to go to the UK on the 15the May - not sure for how long yet. :plane:
All our friends both old (who we have known for up to 6 months) and new (including those we haven't met yet) are invited. :welcome:
As so many have left for northern climes or elsewhere, at 8:30 pm (Eastern Summer Time, which will give us time to charge our glasses) what about a toast to "Absent Friends", and all those absent friends who are still following this thread, can join us as well - Where ever they may be? :beer3:
For those of you that have been the butt of our practical jokes over the last 6 months, we humbly apologise and promise not to pull any more stunts before we return (we think).:pepper2::pepper2:

You just never know what's going to happen around here! Yesterday, Mom came flying onto the lanai yelling for Janice and I to come outside. We weren't sure what was going on but found out that we have new neighbors on Kilgore just across the street from us to the west. :MOJE_whot: Mike Yost and his wife started design today. He was a little surprised that I was so glad he was moving in until I explained about the sand drifts that we've been enjoying (some more than others!)
Mike Roberts was just walking by with Beauregard just minding his own business when he was drug into the conversation and found out that Mike Yost was also building a Begonia. Mike was kind enough to take the other Mike home and let the Yosts see his place. What a guy (thanks Mike). :BigApplause:
Super nice people and they will be a great addition to GillyLand! :welcome:

I just had to post this pic of a mad Englishman attempting to fight a gator for a golf ball. Sir John hit a line drive off the tee on the Redfish Run exec course today and it headed directly for the water. Fortunately, it was hit with such force that it skimmed across the water and popped out of the water on the opposite side. Unfortunately, the ball hit a gator in the head on the last skip which upset said gator to a certain degree. Sir John, being the man that he is, decided to retrieve his favorite yellow golf ball from the edge of the pond with the gator in close proximity and looking for revenge. :boxing2: Lady Wendy was looking on hoping that the insurance was paid up and would pay off when Sir John was repaid by the gator for the konk on the noggin! :mmmm: I thought it would make a wonderful action shot and caught Sir John in the act of battling the gator for his errant ball. You just had to be there to really appreciate the whole adventure!

Don't forget at the Gillibration at Evans Prairie, Friday 8:00pm, that at 8:30pm we are doing a toast to 'Absent Frieds' for all the Gillylanders who have gone home or have not got here yet. :BigApplause:
If you are intouch with any fellow Gillylanders, remind them that they can join in the toast, whereever they are in the world and what ever time zone they are in. :BigApplause:
8:30 Eastern Summer time, or whatever you call it here :BigApplause: is the time of the toast
It would also be great if our fellow Gillylanders who did join us in the toast, who are away from their Gillyland home could post on this thread that they did so, which will remind us of just how many friends old and new we are missing. :posting:

Hope you can fit all that into your new home. One thing we seem to be continually short on is storage space.
We sure hope so...we do have a lot of crystal and nic naks that when wrapped and packed so thickly they take up TONS of room in many boxes. If it doesn't fit we will have to have one of those "after moving" garage sales I guess

Hi Everyone! There has been a lot going on in GillyLand the last few days. Lots of new neighbors moving in and a few neighbors traveling north and far, far east. The neighborhood continues to grow and it's still the best one around.
On Thursday, Janice and I hosted an 82nd birthday for the youngest Mum in Gilchrist, Sally. She turned 82 years old on May 9th and we actually surprised her with a party. I've attached some pictures to celebrate the event.

Well that's it,
The Goodbybration is over and what a great night it turned out to be. :MOJE_whot:
It is really great (nearly said 'Fabulous' then) that some of you 'Absent Friends' joined us in the toast and posted it on the thread. :a040:
That just shows everyone what a great, friendly and fun group we all are, with the sense of comaraderie, whereever we might be residing at the time. :a040:
As well as saying goodbye and the hugs and kisses, we had two presentations, one to our neighbourhood cleanup champion, Mike, who was awarded the 'Order of the Can' for his selfless devotion to the cleanliness of the neighbourhood when he is walking Beau.
Lady Wendy was supposed to read out the citation to Mike, but didn't bring her reading glasses and could'nt see a thing and when asked why she hadn't brought them replied "I can see the Wine Glass well enough to see when it needs refilling"
The Lady Mayoress stepped in and read the citation wonderfully.
The second one was to Hotrodgirl, who was awarded a security certificate to present to her new friend Mick, who saw first hand the craziness of this new neighbourhood.
We are trully in awe of this wonderful place, you will all be missed and we will be back as soon as we can :bigbow:

Welcome to Sean & Freddie! Most of you will remember them from my story several months ago about being in the garage piddling around when I heard a woman calling from the street saying she was looking for the mayor. Sean & Freddie were up from Tampa checking the place out and ended up on our lanai for about 90 minutes and also meeting Terry & Teryl.
The fun for them has begun. The preliminary stakes are in the ground. It'll be fun to see what happens next!

We need to find a lawn company pretty quickly. Many people, including our wonderful neighbors Mary and Jim, use Stellar. When I spoke to the company today, they wanted to sell me a big package of services. Besides mowing, weeding, edging, and pest control, what other things do you consider must-haves? Is their big package that gives us 14 months for the price of 12 a good idea? Thanks for any suggestions.

I love the big package. They will swarm all over your place and give you their cell number for emergencies. I am happy with them. But I'm new using them so check if anybody is not, but I think they really have stormed the market. trim bushes, inside/outside pest control. Jesse, a supv. has studied plants and loves to talk about ph, what will grow well, pests, etc. they also landscape if you want a project done.

I just signed with Stellar after firing Sterling. I got the mowing package for $650/13 months which is what I was paying with Sterling. I called the co for an estimate and the rep was out the next day which was a Thursday. He said he would try to get the team to the house on Friday and if not possible would be here Monday. They showed up Monday morning and the yard looks pretty good. They cut it a little short for my taste but I wasn't here to tell them how I wanted it cut so I'm not unhappy. The rep also told me that I can add any of the services whenever I want but for now I'm going to do the fertilization, etc on my own.
Hope this helps!

Hi Guys,
Still suffering from leaving stress and jet lag.
We are all :doggie: missing you guys probably more than you are missing us :ohdear:
Mr Mayor and A4 please give the Mums a very big hug from us and tell them we will be back talking to them in that funny accent they can't understand but like the sound of anyway as soon as we can.
We are up for the idea of a big 'gillybration' when we get back, but insist that you get in lots of practise before we return.
On an upbeat note, when our son arrived to pick up Millie from UK immigration (she traveled the day before us), they had already let her out of her travel box and given her the run of the reception office, where she was busy greating the visitors to the office, no doubt wondering where the hell we were and when we were coming to pick her up!
We landed in the UK to a bright sunny spring day, but within 4 hours, the rain started and it hasn't stopped for two days - oh to be home in the sunshine :ohdear:
Thank goodness we have a lovely home and our family and friends in the UK to come back too or we really would be depressed.
Right that's enough depression for one day - off to the nearest golf course today to buy some golf clubs to keep up the practice and looking forward to seeing you guys again real soon - Andy:a040: Wendy:a040: Millie:a040:
